2. COMING TO SENSES: Hope Exists Is about the REALIZATION that we must come to, to see that bullying and consequential issuesare happening daily to the ones we know and love. They may be too afraid to ask for help. We must be there for one another and understand we may not feel how another feels, but they need our support.
3. VISION To help students realize they are not alone, that they need to reach out for help To show students the causes of bullying, the repercussions of bullying, that they need to take the time to understand others To bring attention to the fact that Anti-Bullying and pop culture CAN fit together
4. MISSION To put together a benefit concert, profits going towards Seneca’s Anti-Bullying Club To gain recognition of the club To show the importance of the operation of the club
5. STATISTICS U.S. Suicide Statistics (2001) Attempted Suicides There are approximately 750,000 suicide attempts each year. An estimated 5 million living Americans have attempted suicide. More females attempt suicide than males.(3 female attempts for each male attempt.) Survivors of Suicide Each suicide intimately affects at least 6 other people. (estimate) Based on the 742,000+ suicides from 1977 through 2001, it is estimated that the number of survivors of suicides is 4.45 million (1 out of every 64 Americans). Since, on average, a suicide occurs every 17 minutes, then there are about 6 new suicide survivors every 17 minutes as well. http://www.suicide.org/suicide-statistics.html
6. PLAN OF ACTION To collect funding, we are willing to ask local businesses for their support in return for their advertisement on a shirt for the benefit, or an advertisement space at the benefit We have a lengthy list of local bands and their contact information to directly ask them if they would be interested in playing at the concert
7. PLAN OF ACTION, continued The concert will (tentatively) be in the Wattsburg Middle School Gymnasium with Chinese Auctions taking place in the cafeteria, as well as informational booths about depression, suicide and bullying Friday, May 20th, or Friday, May 27th would be the optimal days for the concert, at 7PM
8. ALL WE ASK… Is for your approval of this event. We feel that we are fit and ready to plan for this event because we recently graduated and we know what high school students struggle with, and how they choose to deal with it. We support Seneca’s Anti-Bullying club 100% and want to show them that they have our encouragement in what they are doing. We have been inspired by the way the students are pulling together on their own. Please consider the concert as a serious request, as we know it is a heavy task to take on, but we are beyond ready and willing to help.
