7. Training methods
• On the job training
Method by which employees are given hands on experience
with instructions from their supervisor or other trainer.
Employees are trained at the actual job location.
• Job rotation
Job rotation is a strategy where employees rotate between
jobs at the same business. Employees take on new tasks at a
different job for a period of time before rotating back to their
original position.

Apprenticeship is a combination of on-the-job training (OJT) and
related classroom instruction under the supervision of a journey-level
craft person or trade professional in which workers learn the practical
and theoretical aspects of a highly skilled occupation.
• Mentoring
A mentor is a guide who can help the mentee to find the right direction
and who can help them to develop solutions to career issues. A mentor
should help the mentee to believe in herself and boost his/her
confidence.
• Internship Programs
An internship is a period of work experience offered by an employer to
give students and graduates exposure to the working environment,
often within a specific industry, which relates to their field of study.

Large number of trainees can be taught at once.
It is a cost efficient method of training. It is more effective if
training need is the same across participants.
• Audiovisual material
It is good for capturing student interest. After the initial
investment, cost is minimal.
• Conference
Method in which a trainee and a trainer hold one-to-one
discussions on the subject matter to be imparted or taught.
