MEANINGS OF MULTIPLICATION
Objective – Mission: I will recognize
mutliplication as repeated addition of equal
groups
HOW MANY DUCKS?

 How many ducks are there in 4 rows of
  three?
 First multiply the number of equal groups by
  the number in each group

          Array

     (objects
Arranged in equal
4 ROWS EACH HAS 3 RUBBER DUCKS

 Addition 3+3+3+3=12
 Multiplication 4x3=12

 The product is the answer to a multiplication
  problem.
 Factors are the numbers multiplied together
  to find the product
PLEASE COMPLETE INDEPENDENT PRACTICE
 QUESTIONS 6-11
 When you finish, you and your elbow partner
need a die (one dice) and connector cubes
 One partner rolls the die twice to get 2
  numbers
 The other partner creates groups from the
  number. Example I rolled a 2 then a 5. My
partner would make 2 equal groups of 5
 The other partner

Writes one addition problem and one
Multiplication problem
