The Judicial and Bar Council shortlisted 37 nominees for six vacant positions as associate justices in the Sandiganbayan, including a person with a disability. Among those nominated is wheelchair-bound lawyer Rodolfo Noel Quimbo, currently director general of the Senate's Blue Ribbon Oversight Office Management. Also nominated were several Assistant Solicitors-General and an undersecretary from the Office of the Executive Secretary. The shortlist will be submitted to President Benigno Aquino III for the appointment of six new Sandiganbayan associate justices.

MANILA - A person with disability (PWD) was among the 37 shortlisted by the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) for six
Sandiganbayan posts, according to the Public Information Office (PIO) of the Supreme Court on Monday.
The passage of Republic Act 10660, otherwise known as "Act Strengthening the Functional and Structural
Organization of the Sandiganbayan" added two to the existing five divisions in the Sandiganbayan.
Six new associate justices are expected to join the anti-graft court.
Among the nominees to be next Sandiganbayan justice is wheelchair-bound lawyer Rodolfo Noel Quimbo, who is
gleefully referred to by his colleague's as the "Senate's Mabini." He is currently the director general of the Senate's
Blue Ribbon Oversight Office Management.
Also nominated to the anti-graft court are Assistant Solicitors-General Karl Miranda, Marissa Macaraig-Guillen,
Renan Ramos and Ma. Antonia Edita Claridades-Dizon. If appointed, they will join their former colleague Sarah
Jane Fernandez, who was named Sandiganbayan associate justice in May.
Fernandez replaced Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Gregory Ong, who was dismissed last year over his
supposed links to alleged pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim Napoles.
Michael Frederick Musngi, an undersecretary at the Office of the Executive Secretary, was also nominated to the
anti-graft court.
Completing the list of shortlisted nominees to the anti-graft court are: Philip Aguinaldo, Reynaldo Alhambra, Danilo
Cruz, Benjamin Pozon, Danilo Sandoval, Salvador Timbang Jr., Mary Ann Corpus-Mañalac, Maria Theresa
Mendoza-Arcega, Andres Bartolome, Celso Baguio, Ma. Teresa De Guzman-Alvarez, Bernelito Fernandez, Elvira de
Castro Panganiban, Fernando Sagun Jr., Zaldy Trespeses, Frances Guanzon, Reynaldo Cruz, Vilma Pauig, Ruben
Reynaldo Roxas, Perpetua Atal-Pano, Thelma Bunyi-Medina, Luisito Cortez, Geraldine Fiel-Macaraig, Angelene
Mary Quimpo-Sale, Bayani Jacinto, Wilhelmina Jorge-Wagan, Geraldin Faith Econg,Rosanna Fe Romero-Maglaya,
Merianthe Pacita Zuraek, Elmo Alameda and Victoria Fernandez-Bernardo.
The shortlist will be submitted to President Benigno S. Aquino III who will appoint six Sandiganbayan associate
justices from the submitted list.
The JBC is constitutionally mandated to screen applications for vacant posts in the Judiciary and the Office of the
Ombudsman. It is chaired by Chief Justice Maria Lourdes P.A. Sereno.
