2. Micah Kogo KEN/1986 27:01 Road
Micah was the Olympic Games 10,000m bronze medallist in 2008 and is also a former world record
holder for 10k on the road (27:01). This time is still the second time ever on the all-time ranking. In
2013 Micah made his debut for the marathon with a second place in the Boston Marathon, later that
year he finished fourth in Chicago Marathon running his personal best 2:06:56. His best time in half
marathon is 59:49 which he ran in RAK in 2014. Micah’s personal best over 10.000m (26:35.63)
makes him the 6th
fastest man ever over 10.000m.

Although Kinde’s athletics career started only three years ago, Kinde made a huge progression,

third in Bangalore.

Feyisa Lelisa is a strong marathon athlete and won his debut marathon in Dubai in 2009. One year
later he recorded a sub 2:06 time which made him the youngest athlete ever to break the 2:06
barrier. Feyisa is not only a fast marathon athlete, he also showed his potential as a championships
runner with a bronze medal at the 2011 World Championships.

David Bett is a Kenyan track athlete who specializes in the 5000m and 3000m. He won a silver medal
at the 2009 World Youth Championships and a golden medal at the 2010 World Junior
Championships. Since then he ran impressive personal bests of 13:06 and 7:37 (respectively 5000m
and 3000m). The TCS World 10k in Bangalore will only be his second 10k on the roads.

will travel to India for the second time this year as he was one of the pacemakers in this year’s
Mumbai marathon. A few weeks later, Edwin ran an impressive personal best for half marathon in
The Hague. He became third in the CPC race in 59:35.

Solomon Mutai is one of the leading marathon athletes in Uganda at the moment. Last summer he
was fourth at the Commonwealth Games marathon in Glasgow. Solomon ran track races till the

Born in Kenya's Nandi District, Chumba worked as a gardener until he decided to focus on running
professionally. He began working with Claudio Berardelli in Kapsabet in 2008. His first marathon
outings came in 2010 and he was runner-up at both the Madrid Marathon and the Carpi Marathon.
His first win came in March 2011 when he ran a personal best of 2:08:45 hours to claim the Rome
City Marathon title. At the start of 2012 he had his third career runner-up finish at the Xiamen
Marathon. Victory came at the Eindhoven Marathon as he surged away in the second half of the
race. He set a new course record (and personal best) of 2:05:46. He won the 2014 Tokyo Marathon in
2:05:42, improving the course record by more than a minute and in the same year he placed 3rd in
Chicago marathon improving his personal best to 2.04.32. At the start of 2015 he returned to Tokyo
where he achieved the 3rd place in 2.06.34.

Double World Cross Country Champion Emily Chebet returns to Bangalore. Emily is one of the fastest
ladies in the world with a personal best of 30:58. After winning her second World title in 2013 she
traveled to the World Championships in Moscow where she represented Kenya in the 10.000m. she
came close to a medal running a personal best of 30:47.02 and taking the fourth place.

Mamitu Daska showed her good shape in RAK this year as she set a new Ethiopian record in the half
marathon (66:28) and an eight place at the World Cross Country Championships (and a golden team
medal). Over the past few years Mamitu won the Dubai and Frankfurt marathon, Houston and
Boston half marathon and set a new course record at the BAA Boston 10k (2014 – 31:04).

7. Aselefech Mergia ETH/1985 32:00 Road
Aselefech Mergia is one of the top marathon athletes in Ethiopia at the moment. She was one of the
leading Ethiopians between 2007 and 2012 with a silver medal at the World Half Marathon
Championships, bronze at the World Marathon Championships, victories in Delhi (twice) and Dubai
marathon (twice). She also took podium places in Paris and London Marathon. In 2013 and 2014
Aselefech had a maternity break but she came back strong in 2015. She won the Dubai marathon for
the third time in her career and finished fourth in last month’s prestigious London marathon.
It will be her fourth appearance in Bangalore, after winning in 2009, runner-up in 2010 and a seventh
place in 2011.
