JOB DESCRIPTION:
- specializes in assessing, intervening and stabilizing a variety of trauma and illnesses with
decisive action. Due to the range of medical conditions that may require urgent treatment and
care,
- Knowledgeable about general as well as specific health issues.
-understands triage, which is a method of prioritizing injuries based on medical need.
- have the ability to make quick and accurate assessments about incoming patients, including
both physical and mental health conditions.
-Provides initial emergency care, determines the most suitable medical facility for the patient
and transports the individual.
-Perform patient assessment, determining the nature and extent of injury or illness. Check for
medical alert bracelets or necklaces, and any medication the person is carrying.
Provide basic life support, which may include airway management, providing proper and
adequate ventilation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and use of an automatic defibrillator and
ECG monitor.
-Control bleeding, treat shock, dressing and bandaging wounds and immobilize close and open
fractured bones. Administer oxygen, initiate IVF, and administer medications according to
patient condition as per protocol and as order by medical director.
-Read and Interpret ECG rhythm. Work base in scope of practice and follow ethics and moral
standard of care.
-Keeps the dispatcher informed and, if necessary, requests additional assistance or special
rescue, such as a flight ambulance, ALS team and non-medical resources.
