1. A beautiful day
to be homeless.
However you perceive them, they
are no different to us.
By James Deere
2. Bournemouth's problem.
The Daily Echo sees
homeless as a problem that
needs to be eradicated, not
tendered too.
(above)
“Beggar”
Notice the generalisation of
this homeless person.
Alienated and stereotyped -
made to be the problem.

3. Bigger Issue.
The magazine provides not only a legitimate
source of income for many, but also
opportunities to converse.
4. The ‘Red Army’.
On the prowl, the ‘town rangers’ serve locals
and tourists alike, yet they persist to move on
those with nowhere to go.
5. Busk till’ dusk.
Street performing is favoured for some homeless. In
Derek's case, music provides happiness.
Thats life.
Francis sings in town so he
can afford to care for his sick
mother. Whatever it takes I
guess.
6. Hey big spender!
Whilst Bournemouth begins
to strive in development
thanks to the council and
property developers, the only
homeless shelter in town was
removed.
It seems that removing the
options for homeless will
remove them…
Will it really?
7. Redemption.
Paul (above) from the
salvation army does a
tremendous amount for the
community. Part of that
community being the
homeless. They provides
showers in Winton every day
for free and run soup kitchens
every Monday and Friday
outside St.Pauls church
(right).
8. We’re on a road to nowhere.
Paul, once professional chef turned lost soul.
A rather delirious character, he lives through
past misfortune and current torment. His
ability to re-enter the work environment is
hindered by violence towards Paul, resulting
in his broken arm and fingers.
9. Where you off too boy?
Deserted bags arise many questions.
Has he been told to move? Maybe he found refuge?
Perhaps he just got his next score of heroin?
10. Not many of those who are homeless have family or
friends. A lot are homeless because of family/friend
conflicts.

11. ‘Life’s life, deal with it’
Stewart has been on and
off the streets for 20 years.
Being an alternative artist,
he makes dolls out of scrap
materials. It’s not getting
easier for him, and help is if
anything declining, yet he
cherishes every day.
End.
