2. What is actually HCI?
• A HCI can be defined as a discipline concerned
with the design, evaluation and implementation of
interactive computing systems which often
regarded as the intersection of computer science,
design, media studies behavioral sciences and
several fields of study developed for human use.
• Also known as :
Computer-human
interaction (CHI)
or Man-machine
interaction (MMI)

4. Difference between human computer
interaction and user interface.
HCI UI
Within the HCI community
(mostly ACM SigCHI), a
“User Interface Designer”
was the practitioner who
designed the interface
rather than studied the
behaviour.
”User interface” became
more graphical, some UI
designers were better at
the graphic design and
some better at just the
interaction (flow,
information presented,
controls).

“ Knowing the need of society.
Different people have difference
interest, thus the needs of
self-actualization, esteem,
love/belonging, safety and
physiological should be
emphasized.” –ceghah

“HCI helps a lot in realization of people’s need in more
efficient ways. Plus, HCI can do something beyond the
capabilities of human but somehow this evolution makes
people become lazier.” -merah

“Different people have their own
conceptual and ideas. With HCI,
people can interpret their own ideas in
helping and improving the needs of
the society. In studying or designing
HCI where user interface technology
changes rapidly, they offering new
interaction possibilities to which
previous research findings may not
apply. ” –zara

“HCI shows the ‘impossible’ syndrome
in people’s thought can be change into
‘possible’. Without HCI, we can’t
reach the hi-tech world as today.”
