Title:
“Dental Health Gymnastic (D’Gym)” As Media For Enhancement Of
Public Dental Health
 Target Audience:
The audience of this program were mothers in Surabaya, because mother has an
important role in a family, especially in family’s habit that could affect health.
 Abstract:
Objective: This program was aimed to increase awareness about public dental health and
education through an effective learning method.
Method: D’Gym uses learning format that will improve 3 aspects of learning which is of
cognitive, psychomotor and affective aspects. To increase the cognitive is by giving
knowledge about oral health and brushing teeth method properly, and in psychomotor by
giving an exercise movement for dental health in D’Gym kit that should be conducted
routinely for learning media in maintaining dental health to be retrieved in value through
screening of the dental debris accumulation. For the assessment of affective, the formation
of the role model to be an example for the community in dental public health.
Result: The test showed that there is an increase in cognitive from 43,33% to 73,67%. Much
more better of the dental debris accumulation in psychomotor from 3,52 in to 1,96, and in
the affective, the participants attended this program properly.
Conclusion: D’Gym is an effective media for enhancement of public dental health.

 Introduction and Rationale
Surgeon General's Report states that 23% of older adults aged 65-74 have severe
periodontal disease. According to Warren (2012), tooth loss and periodontal disease
commonly occurs in association with aging and sex, resulting in compromised mastication
of food by older people and female. Thus, impaired chewing may negatively influence
nutritional status and undermine general well-being including physical activity.
D’Gym is dental health gymnastics program, a physical activity method to prevent
dental disease which contents movements for mastication system and dental education
health, such how to prevent dental diseases and brush teeth properly. It can increasing the
progressive and regressive system of the bone and joint, repairing mastication function, and
decreasing high cases of dental diseases.
 Aim and Specific Objective(s) of the Project
1. Increase awareness about public dental health and education.
2. Create dental health leader to be the role model in leading community dental health.
3. Increasing public health education about brushing teeth method and preventive
dental health.
 Outline of Project Conduct
 Estimated Cost of the Project (tangible and intangible costs)
This program costs about Rp 5,800,000,00 for all components which is funded by
Directorate of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture of Republic of
Indonesia.
 How Project has been evaluated.
Based on difference analysis aspects of participant’s pre and post test score, there was a
