Desiree Hechler

Hello Everyone! My name is Desiree Hechler and this afternoon I will be sharing my favorite
hobbies with you. Growing up I enjoyed dancing, singing and all the things young girls do, but as a
woman my interests have changed. I spend a large portion of my life serving up refreshing drinks and
delicious food at the Heritage (restaurant… something is missing?) and when I’m off you can more than
likely find me here, at school, with my face shoved in a book and a pencil in my hand. I enjoy taking full
advantage of the precious free time I have, partaking in my most enjoyable hobbies: Cooking, Cleaning,
and Running Dogs(rework this sentence and the hobbies are lower case).

The site, the smells, the touch, the sound, everyone one of my senses are awakened when I am
in the Kitchen. I love every aspect of cooking, from preparing the meat to taste testing the casserole. I
love all the colors, textures, and tastes that can be experimented with, and turned into a masterpiece. I
love to bake cakes and pies, to season steaks and fry squash, to batter fish and chop peppers. If it
involves the exciting world of cooking, count me in! I love to cook!

When I’m not in the kitchen rattling the pots, I enjoy a nice relaxing cleaning session. Did I just
say cleaning and relaxing in the same sentence? Yes, I did! I enjoy cleaning. For me it’s almost like it’s
therapeutic. From mopping the floors to dusting the ceiling fan, every motion is just as soothing while I
clean. My favorite time is deep cleaning, sponge in one hand and some Mr. Clean Multi- Surface in the
other. For me nothing is more calming and relaxing than a nice clean house, and I greatly enjoy keeping
mine that way. I am the only one who can clean it the way I like it too, My fiancé, Travis tries but I’d
rather just relieve some stress and do it myself (in this paragraph, you are saying “for me” several
times, go back and change one of them )

When I have fulfilled both of those cravings (discuss baking and cleaning in this topic
sentence/rework it), Travis and I will load up in his pickup and head out to run dogs, this is a true
southern sport that he introduced me to, and haven’t been to get full from it since. We load up the
dogs, head into the woods and turn them loose, Martina, Flex, and Coojo’, they all take off, on right
after the other, each in full stride, noses down, tails up. These talented hunters are on a fast track to
running every deer in the block as hard as they can go. Trav takes one side of the cut down and I, the
other. We stand, and listen, and wait, with the shotgun in hand here comes that buck, the one everyone
at the club’s (explain, club?)been talking about. Out jumps the Deer and tight into my shoulder goes the
gun. Fire away! The biggest adrenaline rush you’ll ever get. Each time running, watching those amazing
dogs head into the woods, stir up that big daddy buck, and heading em’ out, right to you is more exciting
than the last!

I can tell when I’ve had too much work and school, and not enough “me” time to do these things
that I love. My whole world gets rocky, and things just seem upside down. That is when I take a day from
work; I allow myself plenty of hours to enjoy all three of my favorite things. I’ll start with cooking a nice
breakfast, close out that cooking session with dusting my entire house and febreezing all the furniture.
When I’m finished with that I am nice and calm and ready for my adrenaline fix. Travis and I head out,
for an afternoon outdoors, waiting for that big buck to cross!
