•The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs
(CCEA) chaired by the Hon'ble Prime Minister
Shri Narendra Modi has approved the increase
in the Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for all
mandated Kharif crops for marketing season
2020-21.

6. •The highest increase in MSP is proposed
for
•nigerseed (Rs 755 per quintal)
•sesamum (Rs 370 per quintal)
•urad (Rs 300 per quintal)
•cotton (long staple) (Rs 275 per quintal)
7. •The expected returns to farmers over their cost
of production are estimated to be highest in
case of
•Bajra (83%)
•urad (64%)
•tur (58%)
•maize (53%).
•For rest of the crops, return to farmers over
their cost of production is estimated to be at
least 50%.
8. • the Umbrella Scheme "Pradhan Mantri
AnnadataAaySanraksHanAbhiyan” (PM-AASHA)
announced by the government in 2018 will aid in
providing remunerative return to farmers for their
produce.
•The Umbrella Scheme consists of three sub-
schemes
•Price Support Scheme (PSS)
•Price Deficiency Payment Scheme (PDPS)
•Private Procurement & Stockist Scheme (PPSS)
9. •Meghalaya plans to provide tap connection to all rural
households by December, 2022
•it has become very important to provide livelihood to the
migrant workers who have returned to their native
villages in Meghalaya. These personnel could be utilized
in water supply related works especially plumbing,
fitting, water conservation works, etc.
•Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) launched by Central
Government last year aims to provide “Functional
Household Tap Connection” (FHTC) to every rural
household by 2024.
10. •In order to provide food security during
the prevailing situation due to COVID-19
pandemic, the Government has decided
to distribute pulses to the eligible
households under Pradhan
MantriGaribKalyanYojana (PM-GKY).
•1,07,077.85 MT pulses
11. •Cabinet approves extension of repayment date for
short term loans for agriculture and allied activities
by banks which have become due or shall become
due between 1st March, 2020 and 31st August,
2020
•Govt. is providing concessional Standard Short-
Term Agri-loans to farmers through banks with 2%
p.a, interest subvention to banks and 3% additional
benefit on timely repayment to farmers thus
providing loans upto Rs,3 lakh at 4% p.a. interest on
timely repayment.
