2. Antes de comenzar…
Before we begin…
You have been separated into groups of 4. These groups will be
the same for the duration of this topic. Each group has a name –
it is a region of Spain. In a minute you will need to write this
down so you do not forget! It is very important for group work!
Throughout this topic, teams and individuals will be able to earn
estrella puntos. There will be prizes for the team with the
most estrella puntos at the end of the topic!
Each lesson I will have a secret student. I I will be watching them
especially carefully to see how they work! t could be you! You
can win estrella puntos and nice phone calls home for working
well, or detentions and serious phone calls home for a lack of
effort or for not producing your best work.

of their capital cities

Using the atlases describe the location of Spain
in as much detail as possible.
Think: Countries, continent, seas etc.

Swap with the person sitting next to you You
have 2 minutes to complete or improve their
description. Some people will be reading their
work out, and estrella puntos will be available!

5. Mr Radford’s map challenge!
Decide who in your teams are number 1, 2, 3 and 4.
Each team has to create a map of Europe show the
location of European countries and label their capital
cities.
At the front of the class I have the necessary information!
Number 1s are drawers, they will not be called up to look
at the information.
Number 2,3, and 4s will be called up one by one. They
cannot draw or write, they have to describe the
information to the drawers.

Swap your map with another group.
In a few minutes, individuals will be presenting this map to the rest
of the class. You brief presentation needs to include:
• 1 piece of information that you didn’t have on your own map
• 2 things which you would change about this map
• 2 things which are positive about this map
Mark these clearly on the map!

7. Individual task!
Now you have seen how it is done, label your own map of Europe.
Make sure they include the following:
• The locations of countries
• The names and locations of their capital cities
The best maps will receive an estrella punto for their group
Next we will be testing your knowledge of the location of European
countries to its limits!
