because of ever changing competitive market in the business world. Now there is a
need for organisations to innovate ways and means to effectively meet the dynamic
business demands for their changing information requirements to be competitive in the
dynamic markets.

What is Big Data?
Now a days data is generated on the fly, through social media, mobile
technologies, internet of things like Sensors, Devices like CCTV camera etc.
These data generated is really big to process because their characters. There are
three characters of the data generated through the above tools. They are Volume,
Velocity and Variety. The quantity of data generated is too big. The velocity of
data generated is fast and the data types are varied like text files, video files, audio
files, log files etc.

What is Big Data?
Since the data sets generated are so voluminous and complex that traditional
RDBMS (Relational Data Base Management Systems) are inadequate to deal with
those data types, it is the need of the hour to identify “massively parallel software”
running on tens, hundreds or even thousands of servers to do the data
management.

These data types are varied as Structured Data Sets, Semi-structured Data Sets
and Unstructured Data Sets. These constitutes the “Big Data” which requires best
analytical software and hardware tools to understand the emerging results and
projecting machine learning from the historical data. Now the Big Data has
increased the demand of information management specialists who is specialising
in data management and data analytics, such as IBM, Microsoft, SAP, HP, Oracle
and Dell.

These data sets are so big and complex. We need new tools and approaches to manage
most of them. Now businesses have to look for a much simpler and more cost-efficient
way of storing these data. That’s where Hadoop comes into play in terms of providing that
Hadoop file system layer where we can store the data in its raw format.

Businesses need to use a hybrid approach in which their smaller structured data remains
in their relational databases, and large unstructured datasets get stored in Hadoop or
some distributed SQL databases like SAP HANA, Google F1, Facebook Presto, or
NoSQL databases like Cassandra, MongoDB or CouchDB. Basically they all handle vast
amounts of data efficiently, but they are used for different purposes.

Now, Big data tools will help our organisations to store, manage, and analyse these
big data to gain valuable insights that were previously unimaginable. Big Data
technologies such as in-memory data management, analytics, artificial intelligence,
and machine learning can help the organisations to transform decision making to do

What is SAP S/4 Hana?
SAP S/4 Hana Digital Core is a next generation Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
solution with its underlying in-memory data store “SAP Hana” where data is stored in
columns instead of rows for faster and real time analytics and compute capabilities,
which is a new type of data base. Either or both of these solutions will run on “SAP
Cloud Platform”, a private Cloud Platform or in the public Cloud Platform such as
Amazon Web Services – (AWS Cloud Platform) or a customer owned in-premise data
centre.

SAP Cloud Platform Big Data Services feature the key capabilities for Big Data viz.,
Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, Apache Hive and Apache Pig. Business Enterprises
commonly use these capabilities to process unstructured data from stored data lakes
generated from IOT use cases to perform data analysis for business decision making.

It is a collection of Big Data tools offered as a service. They form a Big Data
processing platform, based on Apache Hadoop and Apache Spark, available as a
subscription in SAP’s secure cloud platform. In general, Hadoop serves as the core
of an ecosystem of open-source software projects for the distributed processing of
large data sets. Today, Hadoop is the acknowledged standard for Big Data
processing.

The Business Enterprise will have right products to enable digital transformation
and run business critical processes quickly and securely in the SAP Cloud Platform
