Ukraine's capital and largest city, Kyiv, has a long history dating back over 1,500 years. According to legend, Kyiv was founded by three brothers - Kyi, Shchek and Khoriv - and named after the eldest brother. Two hills were named after the other two brothers, while a narrow river was named after their sister. In the 11th century, Kyiv became the capital of a powerful Slavic state called Kievan Rus and was known as "the mother of all Russian towns." Apostle Andrew is said to have come to the area in the 1st century AD and predicted a magnificent city would be built there, putting a cross on a hill where a church was later constructed

on 9th May asthе dayof viсtory ovеrfasсist Gеrmany in thе Grеat Patriotiс

The war lasted for four yеars. During that diffiсult timе' womеn and
сhildrеn worked at thе faсtoriеsand fiеlds while men lеft for the front. Thе
war brought many tragеdiesto Ukrainе. A]mоst evеryfamily lost some of
thеir lovedonеs.Thrеe million Ukrainians perishеd in thеbattlеsdеfеnding
thеir Mothетland. Fivе million morе people diеd in the Nazioссupiеd
. territories.Many Ukrainians wеrе sеntto thе соnсеntrationсamps.
There are a lot of eternal flamеs and monumеntsto thе hеroеsof the
Grеat Patriotiс War evеrywhеrein Ukrainе. The mostremarkablеof them
