Researchers at University of Michigan's SexLab looked at young adults experiences with sexting, and found no correlation with depression, anxiety or self-esteem. Findings are discussed with a particular emphasis on sexual health.

Sexting & Health
• Sexting is linked to sexual
activity, yet not associated
with sexual risk outcomes.
• Limited support for a
relationship between
sexting and psychological
well-being
29. Implications
• Why the concern over “sexting”?
– Concerns of unknown risks with new
technologies?
– Shifts in Sexual Cultures across
Generations?
– Moral hang-ups?
• Need to have frank, open
conversations about sexual
expression.
• Develop strategies to ensure that
these conversations remain safe
and (when desired) private.
