2. Jaisalmer, The Mini Dubai of India
Jaisalmer is the Golden City of India. It has been existing for a long
time and has seen the expanses and history of India changing at
intervals. It has changed with time too. Jaisalmer has many stories to
tell if one looks at the forts, gardens, and abandoned buildings. It
tells stories about the kings, the conquerors, and the richest obtained
by them.
The mystery of the city is further exemplified by its presence in the
middle of the Thar desert. The desert is vast and seems unending to
the eyes of a tourist. The presence of the desert assigned the name,
“Mini-Dubai” to Jaisalmer. There are a few spots to visit in Jaisalmer.
They are:
3. Jaisalmer Fort
Jaisalmer Fort is also called the Brilliant Stronghold of Rajasthan. The
fort is the epitome of Rajasthani architecture. The large fort is made up
of golden sandstone and the appearance of the fort is shiny and like that
of a mirage. The turrets rise high up to the sky. The fort has secrets
hidden in every corner of its buildings. It is beautiful and mysterious at
the same time. Jaisalmer Fort is a fun place for film geeks. This was the
place where Satyajit Ray shot his film “Sonar Kella” which itself means
The Golden Fort.
4. BadaBagh
The Bada Bagh was built in the 16th century. The kings and nobles
built this huge and beautiful garden to cremate the bodies of the
royal families. The term Bada Bagh means “large garden”. The place
when visited at sunrise or sunset is wonderful to look at. The garden
is the spot of several historically significant incidents. When one
stands here, the ancient history of the place will force you to click
photographs.
5. Sand Dunes
What is the reason to make a trip to Jaisalmer if you don’t visit the
desert? Feel the desert by undertaking any of the desert safaris. The
safari cars or the camel rides will take you around the desert to observe
the serene, yet dangerous beauty of nature. You can observe the sand
dunes and the wide range of cacti in the That Desert. The safaris help to
visit the folk dances and cultural events. Paragliding events are also
available in the desert sands.
6. The Thar HeritageMuseum
The Thar Heritage Museum is located near the Thar desert showing
the old heritage materials of Rajasthan. There are old coins, weapons,
and ornaments of Rajasthani Kings and queens. The place is
historically significant in the presence of several ancient materials
present.
7. Gadisar Lake
Gadisar Lake is located near the fort. It is the source of water in the
vast desert. The fort was built by the king for his subjects due to the
scarcity of water in the desert region. The lake carries a perfume of
benevolence. The magnanimous king had built a huge lake just so that
his subjects wouldn’t have to go too far off places to fetch water. This
place is attractive to children as well due to the boating facilities
present on the lake nowadays.
8. Nathmal-ki-Haveli
Nathmal Ki Haveli has a wonderful feature. It has similar designs on the
left and right sides but the designs are not identical. The intricate
carving was done under the supervision of two Muslim Jewellers. The
interior was complete with intricate carving. The Haveli is an
extraordinary example of the merging of two Islamic and Rajputana
styles of building. It is one of the most beautiful buildings in Jaisalmer.
9. Jain Temples
The Jain Temples are built in Jaisalmer as a tribute to the Tirthankaras of
Buddhism. The Jain temple has a similarity with the Dilwara Temple of
Mount Abu. The temples are intricately carved and the corridors are
