Sample Critical Thinking Questions
1) Yes, I do feel that a few of the questions that I am focused on are deep questions in my life. Before I started this class, I thought that I was pretty
good at analyzing problems. Now, I realize that there are more steps in the way I should think through issues. 2) I do spend a great deal of time
questioning the purpose and goals to my questions. A few issues that I am trying to work through are not problems that can be worked through in a
matter of days or even weeks. I will give you an example. I have been raised Baptist all my life. My grandfather (who raised me), was a preacher. Here
lately, I have become disenchanted with the church and have considered switching to a nondenominational church. 3) Many of our arguments or

For example, when I am upset. Many times when I am upset, it is very hard for me to see things from another point of view. Only after I have
calmed down, am I able to see the situation from another viewpoint. 7) Yes, I often question the consistency of my thoughts and behaviors. I have
to be careful not to make decisions if I am upset or feeling emotional. I do not like to admit it, but I am an emotional person, so any choices I make
can take time to consider. 8) In order to be reasonable or correct, an argument must be formed from facts to be logical as a critical thinker (Clint,
2017). I do try to question the logic of my thinking, but many times I do admit that I fall short. I distort my feelings or my point of views to be
facts. 9) My answers show that I have a lot of work to do to become a good critical thinker. Our critical thinking is decreased dramatically when we
are emotional according to research (Matsumoto, 2017). Many of my decisions are made from an emotional point of view, and I need to fix that.

Critical Thinking Examples
From our modest beginnings using crude tools as cave dwellers to our most sophisticated technological advances of the 21st century, we continually
show our ability to think critically. Critical thinking is a skill that must be nurtured and honed; it is easy to skip steps in the process thereby leading to
inefficiencies in design or product. In this discussion, I will focus on two examples, one that shows a quality example of critical thought, and another
that shows a failure in critical thinking.
First, Benjamin Franklin is known to be one the most influential inventors of the 18th century. He is credited with the invention of the bifocal, the
lightning rod, swim fins and many more. His Pennsylvania Fireplace, later called the Franklin...show more content...
The tower, with its 211 columns and arches, and circular design like many of the grand towers and buildings constructed during its time, are a
testament to the beauty and ingenuity of architects of the time. They built monumental structures with intricate detail and masterful columns with
limited means to construct compared to the standards of today. That being said, the Leaning Tower Pisa is clearly an engineering failure. According
to Wikispaces (2014), construction of the tower began in 1172 and took nearly 200 years to complete due to halts in construction. Those halts are
said to be caused by a lack of money, war, and most importantly the lean that was noticeable by the time three stories were completed in 1178
(Wikispaces, 2014). While it is unknown who the actual architect was, it is thought they were unaware of the soft clay they were building upon.
Numerous sources report that the lean is due not only to the soft ground the building lies on but also the design of the tower itself. Its tall, slender
design caused the ground to sustain increased pressure over a smaller area than many regular buildings like the cathedral which stands next to the tower.
Madrid Engineering Group (2011) reported that this pressure, coupled with the fact that the three meter foundation was inadequate, caused the soft silt
/clay ground to settle at an alarming rate

Critical Thinking
Critical thinking is defined as "the systematic evaluation or formulation of beliefs or statements, by rational standards" (Vaughn 4). Many people
exercise critical thinking in everyday situations. The act of thinking critically involves many steps starting from valuable reasoning and logic along
with evidence and investigation. An abundance of people apply critical thinking in their field or profession every single day. Thinking critically is one
of the most important conditions in a workplace. The skills and practices using critical thinking can be beneficial: analyzing situations, having superb
reasoning, evaluating problems, and satisfying problem solving and decision making. The profession that I want to potentially pursue is PA. A...show

Fallacies are divided into two main categories: irrelevant premises and unacceptable premises. A fallacy that falls under the irrelevant premises is
appeal to the person. Appeal to the person is rejecting the claim not because of the claim itself, but because of the person who makes the claim. In
the workplace, someone could suggest a pleasing idea, but because of the individual it came from, an idea that could have been exertive is now
useless. Another fallacy is appeal to popularity, arguing that a claim must be true solely because a significant number of people believe it.
Because the majority says something, does not mean that it is always right. What an individual believe is extraneous. Something could happen at
work where there is a counterfactual mistake, but because merely everyone believes it, it can produce many mistakes. Appeal to tradition is
another fallacy that an individual can examine while in a work setting. Many people believe only what is connected to their traditions and beliefs.
This is fallacious because everyone has a different belief and while in a work setting, you are going to work with people who have very different
belief systems. While applying a person's guilt, anger, resentment, pity, etc. to get what you want, you are appealing to emotion. A person is
persuading someone by provoking his or her feelings rather than giving reason. In the workplace, a person who is in need of a job most likely will
perform this fallacy because they are in

Reflective Essay On Critical Thinking
Questioning and challenging my assumptions and attitudes about critical thinking is a new process for me, but I do appreciate that to develop and
enhance my assumptions and other mindsets it is an important undertaking. Looking at what we hold to be true is an endeavor well trenched into us
as we evolved. "The real value of critical thinking is that it's been at the root of all human progress" (Rabinowitz, 2015).
Being challenged on my thinking is difficult, but once I got through the difficulty I realized it was for my betterment as a student and as a teacher. My
prior experience as an undergraduate in early childhood education with Bloom's focused mainly on the cognitive domain and thus I cannot recall the
affective or psychomotor domains being addressed. However, as I began to understand that "the committee identified three domains of educational
activities or learning" (Bloom, 1956 as cited by Clark, 2015), I realized that I did have assumptions and that they were being challenged. First of all, I
did assume that Bloom's focus on cognitive development devalues the importance of other domains and secondly that Bloom's Taxonomy is only used
by educators in K–12 and college. Interestingly, both have since been challenged and changed through my readings as "it is important to note that the
most common usage of Bloom's Taxonomy focuses on cognitive learning skills rather than psychomotor or affective skills, two domains that are
crucial to the success of health

Critical thinking begins at the earliest stages of life. As you mature the process becomes more involved and by studying and practicing critical
thinking methods you can improve and become more efficient in the process. You eventually learn to apply past experience, emotions and concepts
that you have learned. Although there many critical thinking examples in personal lives such as decisions on health, money and family, for this

Many problems were quickly identified such as, there were many points where personnel had to lift product from floor level to a delivery wagon,
product rotation in regard to expiration date, identification labels, access to materials/products, customer ordering times and customer ordering
quantities. The team brainstormed ideas for each of the problems, evaluated which ideas were suited best for each problem and then physically
began to implement the ideas. The first problem dealing with personnel lifting too many products from floor level was solved by replacing the
wagons with delivery carts with no side rails and placing the products on stands that kept the products close to waist level. This way the product was
loaded on to the cart there was very little lifting, mainly just sliding the product onto the cart which was purchased to coincide with the storage level
of the product. Product rotation where you want to give the customer the oldest product to keep product from expiring was the cause of a lot of
double movement when bringing in new products. This was solved by storing all the products in the middle of the storage rooms instead of up against
a wall, this way personnel could walk completely around the product not having to rotate older material to the front each time new material arrived.
Labels came next and instead of small identification labels on the wall about

General James Longstreet received him back at camp, and the spy let him know of the information, which he had obtained. Longstreet found it useful
information to pass on to Lee. Both Lee and Longstreet were skeptical of this information, but if the spy was right they would be in extreme danger.

Critical thinking is a significant and essential topic in recent education. The strategy of critical thinking skills helps identify areas in one's courses as
the suitable place to highlight, expand and use some problems in exams that test students' critical thinking skills.
Critical thinking means accurate thinking in the search of appropriate and dependable knowledge about the world. Another way to describe it is
sensible, insightful, responsible, and skillful thinking that is focused on deciding what to believe or do. Critical thinking is not being able to process
information well enough to know to stop for red lights or whether you established the right change at the supermarket.

Developing Critical Thinking Essay
A person is not born as a good critical thinker. The first thing that is needed is a level of maturity having the ability to conceptualize and understand the
world (Boss, 2010). The skills that are associated with a person that has good critical thinking are: Analytical Skills: recognize and evaluate arguments
to filter through to the truth. Effective Communication: ability to listen, speak, and write effectively. Research Skills: ability to gather, evaluate, and
create supporting evidence. (Boss, 2010) In teaching critical thinking, Dr. Chan and Dr. Lau (n.d.) explain good critical thinking, "as the foundation of

A person will be prejudiced to certain opinions without exploring all sides of an issue. People create barriers that stop the gathering of information and
analyzing that are key to being a critical thinker. A few of the resistances that foster narrow–mindedness are denial, the refusal to believe something
despite overwhelming evidence, avoidance, not seeking out opposing views but staying with only those that agree with your position on an issue,
and ignorance, not seeking out information that is available(Boss, 2010). The two resistances that I have used are avoidance and conformity. These
two go hand in hand with me that I will often seek out those that agree with my thoughts and avoid those that do not see things the way I do. At
times, I will be with those that I do not agree with and those times instead of having a conversation, I will go with conformity to fit in at those times.
Adjusting my thinking to overcome these will first require me to seek out and listen to both sides of the issues. Having the knowledge that is not
based on biased opinions will help make a foundation that will increase my confidence in what I think and allow me to speak intelligently on the issue.
The concept of a person that can understand and control their emotions is said to be emotional intelligent. From Boss (2010) emotional intelligence is

The concepts of critical thinking and creative thinking are both gaining increasing importance in the world today. Critical thinking allows people to
understand difficult concepts in a manner that is clearer and more defined. They can more readily understand those concepts if they employ critical
thinking. In all portions of everyday life, a person is expected to make independent judgments. Those judgments are based on experience and
knowledge. Without the ability to think critically, every situation that a person comes across would have to be considered in isolation from all other
situations. When a person encounters a problem that is a new one, he or she may be able to use critical thinking to solve those problems. One...show

Critical thinking also helps in decision–making. Both problem solving and decision–making abilities are vital to a prosperous business. Persons who
are critical thinkers can make a difference in the companies in which they are employed. Today?s corporations must first recognize that there is a real
need for critical thinkers. It is important for both the top management down the line. Critical thinking must be taught and built in to the way the
company or organization performs its business. In fact, companies and organizations must embrace the concept of critical thinking. Critical thinking
can lead to success story after success story. This type of impact gives any company or organization credibility. According to Supon, one of the
fundamental purposes of teaching critical thinking is to enhance the abilities of students to become critical thinkers. Corporate leaders, educational
researchers, employers, and parents have continually pushed teachers to assist their students in the development of critical thinking ability. Critical
thinking is a skill that ?involved not only knowledge of content by also concept formation and analysis, reasoning and drawing conclusions, recognizing
and avoiding contradiction, and other essential cognitive activities? (Supon, 1998). There are proposed reasons for the emphasis that is currently on
critical thinking. Many factors can be related to this emphasis. They include the societal factors of economic shifts

Teaching higher order thinking skills is not a recent need. It is apparent that students, at all levels of education, are lagging in problem–solving and
thinking skills. Fragmentation of thinking skills, however, may be the result of critical thinking courses and texts. Every course, especially in content
subjects, students should be taught to think logically, analyze and compare, question and evaluate.
Implications for Teaching Thinking must be practiced in each content field at each educational level. For the teacher, this means hard work. To teach
students to memorize facts and then assess them with multiple–choice tests is a much easier choice to make. In a course that emphasizes thinking,

1.Distinguish between fact and opinion.
2.Examine the assumptions, including ones own.
3.Be flexible and when looking for explanations, causes, and solutions to problems.
4.Be aware of erroneous arguments, vagueness, and controlling reasoning.
5.Stay focused on the whole picture, while examining the specifics.
6.Look for reputable sources.
The instructional design parameters for self–paced instruction included these factors:
1.Instructional objectives stated initially to the learner.
2.The learner selects his or her own path of inquiry.
3.Small steps, with the necessary tools introduced only as they are needed.
4.Frequent student interaction, requiring high level cognitive involvement.
5.Alternative paths available for variable levels of involvement or usefulness.
In research, there is no right or wrong process; although there are many heuristics that can be passed on. Appropriate use of information requires that

For me critical thinking is a very important topic, it is actually being covered in my English course also. Without critical thinking we would limit
ourselves. In our text book it states that "Critical thinking, or the ability to think clearly, rationally, and independently, is one of the foundations of
scientific reasoning." Without this a lot of what we know in the world would not be possible because nobody would be thinking outside the box.
Critical thinking is the reason a lot of our technology exists, there were people willing to take chances and think indecently to solve issues, or find

What are the most reasonable conclusions?
Many of us are actually able to do this without putting too much thought into it; we may not even realize it. I'm sure we are doing it right now as we
read and write this discussion board so our points are clear and not too confusing. Now there are also times where I do not put too much thought into
what I do, and it usually results in negative consequences. It's because I did not think of the consequences and what other events could occur from it I

Now if you are unable to think critically, there might be other issues to fix. From a personal experience, people that I've know who made bad
decisions are usually just stubborn no matter the consequences. It is important not to let your emotions affect your judgment when thinking critically,
that can always lead to bad decisions and one should always be aware. I'll admit I've made bad decisions when I am upset at times.

able to apply reasoning to many of the issues you face. It won't always be easy but eventually you can find solutions to most of your problems with

Racism And Critical Thinking Essay
Racism cannot be rationally justified. Firstly, the pseudoscience facts about racial differentiation by scientists have no scientific basis behind the
ideology of racism. Secondly, racism harms the physical and emotional well being of individuals, leading to the violation of their human rights,
preserving inequality. Lastly, the ideology ofracism demonstrates a poor evaluation of an individual, ergo it proves a lack of critical thinking.
The violent ideology known as racism is defined by many as "the result of perceiving one group as superior over another" (Quoted in Keister and

Critical thinking is based on how you evaluate a certain situation. To be a critical thinker, you would have to apply no bias to a situation and evaluate
the motives of a person or group. Critical thinking is important because it helps question and evaluate arguments in order to properly justify a position
(Vaughn and MacDonald, 20). A critical thinker looks for all evidence, which is a prime example in justifying how those who believed in scientific
racism lacked in critical thinking. The scientists created a bias towards the different skulls based on which race the skull came from. This was then
carried on in slavery as the whites dehumanize the other races, creating inequality based on a lack of critical thinking. This character defect among "the
invisibility of most mechanisms to reproduce racial inequality" (Bonilla–Silva, 26) throughout history was unjustified as they did not comprehend the
explanation of the Human Genome Project, continuing the unequal racial hierarchy. In today's time, critical thinkers have viewed this violent ideology
and have tried to educated those in society. Yet, there are still groups like the "KKK" that have not looked past the pseudoscience, and have not grasped

characteristics of Critical Thinking is asking questions, considerations, and are open minded with their decisions. It is very crucial to use Critical
Thinking in my everyday activities because it's key to not jump straight to the answer, but to question myself if I'm making a wise decision. I tend to
use Critical Thinking before purchasing any basketball shoes because I want a shoe that will be durable and I'm very meticulous about the material.
By doing so, I have a basketball shoe that will last at least a year compared to buying a new shoe after wearing the other shoe ten times due to sole
separation. It is appropriate to use Critical Thinking when I'm around my classmates because I wouldn't want anyone to think that I'm a racist or a
mean person due to my poor word choices. Critical Thinking has helped me gain a greater self–awareness with my word choice by not rubbing them
the wrong way due to my poor execution with words and has helped me better communicate to those that are a stranger to my life and during the
process making them a

Sample Critical Thinking Questions

  • 1. Sample Critical Thinking Questions 1) Yes, I do feel that a few of the questions that I am focused on are deep questions in my life. Before I started this class, I thought that I was pretty good at analyzing problems. Now, I realize that there are more steps in the way I should think through issues. 2) I do spend a great deal of time questioning the purpose and goals to my questions. A few issues that I am trying to work through are not problems that can be worked through in a matter of days or even weeks. I will give you an example. I have been raised Baptist all my life. My grandfather (who raised me), was a preacher. Here lately, I have become disenchanted with the church and have considered switching to a nondenominational church. 3) Many of our arguments or important...show more content... For example, when I am upset. Many times when I am upset, it is very hard for me to see things from another point of view. Only after I have calmed down, am I able to see the situation from another viewpoint. 7) Yes, I often question the consistency of my thoughts and behaviors. I have to be careful not to make decisions if I am upset or feeling emotional. I do not like to admit it, but I am an emotional person, so any choices I make can take time to consider. 8) In order to be reasonable or correct, an argument must be formed from facts to be logical as a critical thinker (Clint, 2017). I do try to question the logic of my thinking, but many times I do admit that I fall short. I distort my feelings or my point of views to be facts. 9) My answers show that I have a lot of work to do to become a good critical thinker. Our critical thinking is decreased dramatically when we are emotional according to research (Matsumoto, 2017). Many of my decisions are made from an emotional point of view, and I need to fix that. • 2. Critical Thinking Examples From our modest beginnings using crude tools as cave dwellers to our most sophisticated technological advances of the 21st century, we continually show our ability to think critically. Critical thinking is a skill that must be nurtured and honed; it is easy to skip steps in the process thereby leading to inefficiencies in design or product. In this discussion, I will focus on two examples, one that shows a quality example of critical thought, and another that shows a failure in critical thinking. First, Benjamin Franklin is known to be one the most influential inventors of the 18th century. He is credited with the invention of the bifocal, the lightning rod, swim fins and many more. His Pennsylvania Fireplace, later called the Franklin...show more content... The tower, with its 211 columns and arches, and circular design like many of the grand towers and buildings constructed during its time, are a testament to the beauty and ingenuity of architects of the time. They built monumental structures with intricate detail and masterful columns with limited means to construct compared to the standards of today. That being said, the Leaning Tower Pisa is clearly an engineering failure. According to Wikispaces (2014), construction of the tower began in 1172 and took nearly 200 years to complete due to halts in construction. Those halts are said to be caused by a lack of money, war, and most importantly the lean that was noticeable by the time three stories were completed in 1178 (Wikispaces, 2014). While it is unknown who the actual architect was, it is thought they were unaware of the soft clay they were building upon. Numerous sources report that the lean is due not only to the soft ground the building lies on but also the design of the tower itself. Its tall, slender design caused the ground to sustain increased pressure over a smaller area than many regular buildings like the cathedral which stands next to the tower. Madrid Engineering Group (2011) reported that this pressure, coupled with the fact that the three meter foundation was inadequate, caused the soft silt /clay ground to settle at an alarming rate Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Critical Thinking Critical thinking is defined as "the systematic evaluation or formulation of beliefs or statements, by rational standards" (Vaughn 4). Many people exercise critical thinking in everyday situations. The act of thinking critically involves many steps starting from valuable reasoning and logic along with evidence and investigation. An abundance of people apply critical thinking in their field or profession every single day. Thinking critically is one of the most important conditions in a workplace. The skills and practices using critical thinking can be beneficial: analyzing situations, having superb reasoning, evaluating problems, and satisfying problem solving and decision making. The profession that I want to potentially pursue is PA. A...show more content... Fallacies are divided into two main categories: irrelevant premises and unacceptable premises. A fallacy that falls under the irrelevant premises is appeal to the person. Appeal to the person is rejecting the claim not because of the claim itself, but because of the person who makes the claim. In the workplace, someone could suggest a pleasing idea, but because of the individual it came from, an idea that could have been exertive is now useless. Another fallacy is appeal to popularity, arguing that a claim must be true solely because a significant number of people believe it. Because the majority says something, does not mean that it is always right. What an individual believe is extraneous. Something could happen at work where there is a counterfactual mistake, but because merely everyone believes it, it can produce many mistakes. Appeal to tradition is another fallacy that an individual can examine while in a work setting. Many people believe only what is connected to their traditions and beliefs. This is fallacious because everyone has a different belief and while in a work setting, you are going to work with people who have very different belief systems. While applying a person's guilt, anger, resentment, pity, etc. to get what you want, you are appealing to emotion. A person is persuading someone by provoking his or her feelings rather than giving reason. In the workplace, a person who is in need of a job most likely will perform this fallacy because they are in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Reflective Essay On Critical Thinking Questioning and challenging my assumptions and attitudes about critical thinking is a new process for me, but I do appreciate that to develop and enhance my assumptions and other mindsets it is an important undertaking. Looking at what we hold to be true is an endeavor well trenched into us as we evolved. "The real value of critical thinking is that it's been at the root of all human progress" (Rabinowitz, 2015). Being challenged on my thinking is difficult, but once I got through the difficulty I realized it was for my betterment as a student and as a teacher. My prior experience as an undergraduate in early childhood education with Bloom's focused mainly on the cognitive domain and thus I cannot recall the affective or psychomotor domains being addressed. However, as I began to understand that "the committee identified three domains of educational activities or learning" (Bloom, 1956 as cited by Clark, 2015), I realized that I did have assumptions and that they were being challenged. First of all, I did assume that Bloom's focus on cognitive development devalues the importance of other domains and secondly that Bloom's Taxonomy is only used by educators in K–12 and college. Interestingly, both have since been challenged and changed through my readings as "it is important to note that the most common usage of Bloom's Taxonomy focuses on cognitive learning skills rather than psychomotor or affective skills, two domains that are crucial to the success of health Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Example Of Critical Thinking Analysis Critical Thinking ! everyone uses critical thinking without even knowing, children probably more than adults; they question and challenge parent's decision from young age. My professional carrer as Analyst, all my decision are based on gather information, documentation and analyzing it and after make the correct determinazion, what final determination I am going to make. Since, I have been doing it for 18 years, it comes natural and I enjoy it. Making other decisions in my personal life it is not easy at all, when you analyze the situation and see how it might impact your life and others it is very hard. For example, deciding to return to school, looking into diefent schools, degrees, cost and location was extremely difficult. I am not trying Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Critical Thinking Example Essay Critical thinking begins at the earliest stages of life. As you mature the process becomes more involved and by studying and practicing critical thinking methods you can improve and become more efficient in the process. You eventually learn to apply past experience, emotions and concepts that you have learned. Although there many critical thinking examples in personal lives such as decisions on health, money and family, for this paper we will discuss a critical decision process at work which resulted in a significant cost savings for a customer. At work we use a variety of methods to solve problems and which almost always also results in some sort of cost savings. We have access to twenty three decision making tools that can be...show more content... Many problems were quickly identified such as, there were many points where personnel had to lift product from floor level to a delivery wagon, product rotation in regard to expiration date, identification labels, access to materials/products, customer ordering times and customer ordering quantities. The team brainstormed ideas for each of the problems, evaluated which ideas were suited best for each problem and then physically began to implement the ideas. The first problem dealing with personnel lifting too many products from floor level was solved by replacing the wagons with delivery carts with no side rails and placing the products on stands that kept the products close to waist level. This way the product was loaded on to the cart there was very little lifting, mainly just sliding the product onto the cart which was purchased to coincide with the storage level of the product. Product rotation where you want to give the customer the oldest product to keep product from expiring was the cause of a lot of double movement when bringing in new products. This was solved by storing all the products in the middle of the storage rooms instead of up against a wall, this way personnel could walk completely around the product not having to rotate older material to the front each time new material arrived. Labels came next and instead of small identification labels on the wall about Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. The Killer Angels Essay examples The Killer Angels Mine eyes have seen the glory . . . The spy was the first to see the Union army march through the valley. He noted that the army was moving fast and marching in extreme heat. His intentions now were to return and report this information to the General Robert E. Lee. Lieutenant General James Longstreet received him back at camp, and the spy let him know of the information, which he had obtained. Longstreet found it useful information to pass on to Lee. Both Lee and Longstreet were skeptical of this information, but if the spy was right they would be in extreme danger. After viewing the map, Lee decided to go ahead and move his army towards Gettysburg, which would be the direction in which the Union army would ...show more content... All he needed to do was hold the hill till morning when reinforcements would arrive. Wednesday, July 1st, 1863 . . . of the coming of the Lord On this morning Lee spoke with Longstreet, about how he would like for him to stay behind in the battle so that he would not lose him. Longstreet agreed but also brought notice to Lee about the Union cavalry was already in Gettysburg. Lee was caught by surprise; being told earlier that only militia was seen there. Lee reported that it was John Buford, and that infantry was soon to come if the cavalry was already there. Longstreet thought of taking the defensive end and waiting for Buford to attack. Lee on the other hand disagreed with the defensive tactic and wanted to attack Buford. Of course Lee was above Longstreet and would get his way. Buford woke in the morning only to smile and smirk as he heard General Heth's men trying to put up a fight and take his hill. He was not worried of Heth, but worried of what was to arrive behind Heth. Buford knew that if Lee were to arrive and attack, then he would lose the battle and also the hill on which he stood. Major General Reynolds arrived shortly after the battles that were going on that morning. Buford was very glad to see him and his infantry. Later that day in another short battle, Buford caught a glimpse of Reynolds as he rode into battle, only to later turn and see Reynolds dead on the ground. The battle still Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Critical Thinking 1 CRITICAL THINKING AND DECISION MAKING Critical Thinking and Decision–Making Paper Critical Thinking 2 Abstract Critical thinking and decision–making are related in more ways than people think. This paper will define critical thinking and decision–making according to the book Whatever It Takes. It will also present a personal definition of critical thinking and decision–making from the author of this paper. Now there are also times where I do not put too much thought into what I do, and it usually results in negative consequences. From a personal experience, people that I've know who made bad decisions are usually just stubborn no matter the consequences. It is important not to let your emotions affect your judgment when thinking critically, that can always lead to bad decisions and one should always be aware. I'll admit I've made bad decisions when I am upset at times. Clearly critical thinking is a very important skill for someone to have, especially in college. Secondly, racism harms the physical and emotional well being of individuals, leading to the violation of their human rights, preserving inequality. Critical thinking is based on how you evaluate a certain situation. To be a critical thinker, you would have to apply no bias to a situation and evaluate the motives of a person or group. Critical thinking is important because it helps question and evaluate arguments in order to properly justify a position (Vaughn and MacDonald, 20). A critical thinker looks for all evidence, which is a prime example in justifying how those who believed in scientific racism lacked in critical thinking. The scientists created a bias towards the different skulls based on which race the skull came from. This was then carried on in slavery as the whites dehumanize the other races, creating inequality based on a lack of critical thinking. This character defect among "the invisibility of most mechanisms to reproduce racial inequality" (Bonilla–Silva, 26) throughout history was unjustified as they did not comprehend the explanation of the Human Genome Project, continuing the unequal racial hierarchy.
