Creationism Essay
In a typical American high school, Mr. Doe, the science teacher begins his discussion on the theory of evolution. John, a student opposes the idea the
humans came from apes and evolved. John believes that men came from God and that man was created in 6 days. Jane hears this and argues against
John, "How could anything possibly be created in 6 days? This sort of project would take millions of years!" By using up all 45 minutes of class time
discussing creationism and evolution, this is a metaphor to the eternal debate as to the origin of the human species. The question of how man came into
existence is one of the great debates of this century. There is not enough evidence to support creationism, yet there is even less to support...show more

Maybe it was that the egg was conceived and gradually came about through carbon molecules millions of years ago. Perhaps, the egg just suddenly
appeared! This metaphor of the egg and the chicken does not have an answer just as the question of how humans originated. Only "destiny waits our
answer. The choice is ours" (Graham 2).
The theory of evolution is still a theory, yet some believe it to be fact. First introduced in 1858, Charles Darwin, the "father of evolution" introduced
the idea that a species changes through inherited characteristics over a period of time (Evolution 1128). During the early 19th century is when this
"threat to religion began to circulate" (Marlantes 1). Gradual change is what evolution is about, no sudden event could occur. Some may wonder, "if
the Creator uses physics and chemistry to run the universe of life, why wouldn't He have used physics and chemistry to produce it, too" (Marlantes
2). Though evolution is one of gradual change, it is sporadic in those changes, whereas creationism is based on a design rather than chance (Seely 6).
Evidence proves that man has the power to redefine the boundaries while on the contrary, other species are trapped by their biological nature in their
way of life (Sabath 1). Darwin and his theory are the
beginnings of the pre–evolutionary trend toward natural philosophy. There is hard evidence, fossils that prove that we came from something. Some
people look towards "science

Creationism vs. Evolution Essay
Creationism is the theory that man, the earth, and the rest of the universe was originally created rather than randomly exploding from nothingness into
chance existence. We reside on the surface of a small superbly crafted, autonomous self regulating space vehicle. Together with survival, conquest and
death we bear witness to beauty, fragrances, love and music. Think about this. Mathematics, philosophy, springtime, depravity, farming, courtship,
quasars, and iphones; all came from nothingness?, formed by chance......?

Creationism vs. Evolution Essay
Where we come from is a question as old as mankind itself. There are countless numbers of religions, each with their own twist on the origins of earth
and mankind, but one of the most highly visible debates would be creationism vs. evolution. Depending on where your beliefs lie, the Earth has been
around somewhere in the neighborhood of 6,000 years to 4.5 billion years. One would tend to believe that this vast difference in time would make it
impossible to have 2 "theories" that are so widely accepted. However this debate gives you just that. Each argument has its variations, however it
comes down to either God created the Earth and all things in it as they are now or that life today has evolved from a...show more content...
Under the same idea, the "Old Earth" train of thought is that the "days" mentioned in Genesis were actually up to many millions of years each. This
is one of many "theories" that justifies the actual age of the Earth being around 4.5 billion years old. The third view states that the story of creation
contained in Genesis is not a literal or even a chronological account of happenings. It is instead a guide promoting a six–day workweek with the
seventh day a day of worship to God. The last view is much like the second, in that it considers the "days" to be God's workdays, which may or may not
be equal to an Earth calendar day. Each day represents a period of time that God performed a major task. Each view has the same underlying concept
that God created everything, and the way it is today, it the way it was when it was created.
Webster's Dictionary defines evolution as a theory that the various types of animals and plants have their origin in other preexisting types and that the
distinguishable differences are due to modification in successive generations. Like creation, evolution is not immune from differing of opinions.
Evolution is split between two frames of though, naturalistic and theistic.
Naturalistic evolution is pretty much cut and dry. It simply states that life started as a single one–celled organism. The universe was created 14 billion
years ago, and the Earth was

Since the Age of the Enlightenment, the institution of religion has had to contend with the opposition of science regarding the issues of the origins of
the world and of the human species. Up until around the end of the 17th century, the church was the authority on how the world and everything in it
had come to be. However, with the great intellectual revolution came thinkers such as Galileo, Copernicus, Bacon, Descartes, and many others who
challenged the biblical assumptions with empirically deduced scientific theories. The Catholic Church had a nasty habit of persecuting such ideological
dissent toward creationism, calling it heresy and thereby somewhat suppressing a complete upheaval of the Scriptures. For many centuries to come,

The representatives of the ACLU were willing to defend any person willing to face trial for teaching the subject in schools in order to contest the law
and bring its nature into the national limelight. The town leaders of Dayton obliged, being glad for the opportunity of some publicity. William Jennings
Bryan represented the State of Tennessee and staked his claim saying that the State of Tennessee "has already held that this act is constitutional, it being
the law of the land, there is but one issue before this court and jury, and that is, did the defendant violate the statute" (Bryan). Bryan felt that the
defense had no case because the trial was not to debate the constitutionality of a law, but to prove that said law was broken. The prosecution discovered
that they needed to argue the irrationality of teaching evolution and claimed that it was only a mysterious theory and could not possibly have expert
testimonies. The prosecution also argued that because science was the enabler of modern warfare, it was also a source of evil; evil should not be
taught in schools. Bryan said that no teacher had the right either, to cause ideological conflict within the home by influencing a child with theories
contrary to their parentally instilled religious background

Evolution vs. Creationism
Abstract
In the history of science vs. religion there have been no issues more intensely debated than evolution vs. creationism. The issue is passionately debated
since the majority of evidence is in favor of evolution, but the creation point of view can never be proved wrong because of religious belief. Human
creation breaks down into three simple beliefs; creation theory, naturalistic evolution theory, and theistic evolution theory. The complexities of all three
sides create a dilemma for what theory to support among all people, religious and non–religious.
Evolution vs. Creationism
The theories of human evolution may always cause a heated dispute. Each theory presents its own evidence proving...show more content...
Until science proves its naturalistic theory correct, the world will have to choose between the three theories based on personal beliefs, religious values,
and scientific information.
The creation theory includes over 500 different creation stories based on numerous religions (Religious Tolerance, 2004). The vast number of stories
creates strains on which evolution story is accurate. Christians that are creationists take the bible literally and believe the earth is around 10,000
years old. The creation theory will always exist with religion, so the creation theory can never be proved wrong since it is simply a religious belief.
Religion is still very important in the United States, and the acceptance of the naturalization theory would completely change Christianity all together.
Religious Tolerance, a website that outlays the conflict of evolution vs. creationism, explains how naturalism would shake Christianity. Religious
tolerance states that the acceptance of evolution would make people interpret Genesis symbolically and classify evolution stories as myths. Since the
creation stories are closely tied to the fall of man and to original sin, the entire role of Jesus would change. Without original sin, there would be no
need for a savior, and Christianity would change drastically. This further proves that the creation theory will live as long as religion. The Gallup
Organization studies what percentages of Americans believe in each of

Bobby Rappach 11–1–12 Mr. Boyle Creationism The concept of Creationism has been around since a monotheistic Abrahamic God. It is nothing
more than a literal interpretation of the creation story of Genesis as a basis for the creation of everything in the universe. Until the early 1500's it was
the common belief that the world was flat and this is one the only exceptions that creationist sects have excepted when it comes to modern day science
along with the earth not being the center of the universe. Today's definition can be understood as Christianity and Catholicism until the years
surrounding 1500AD. Even after such discoveries it had a large amount of belief compared to new scientific discoveries. As scientific advances over

In geology, instead of the Earth's rock layers forming over millions of years they believe that Noah's Great Flood brought upon the shape of
mountains and diverse amounts of hills, valleys, plateaus etc. One of the greatest controversies when it comes to creationists is the idea of
dinosaurs and humans. Today the average person could tell you that dinosaurs were around before humans, but not creationists. They believe that
along with other animals, dinosaurs were brought on Noah's Ark and died out due to rapid climate change. Since dinosaurs were not mentioned in
the bible, they were referred to as dragons, behemoths, and leviathans brings upon the idea in their mind that they lived along side the ancient
people mentioned in the bible. In this they denounce the geology of dating rocks and fossils by criticizing the formula used to date them back
millions of years. In chemistry they have said that the carbon dating of radioactive isotopes is incorrect because of the lack of 100% accuracy
while being relatively close, they have created there own formula which no matter how they date it, it will always come to a conclusion of less
than 10,000 years ago. Away from the science controversy in their belief, on a theological level they believe most of the same views as Catholics.
There are three persons in one God as well as Jesus being born of the Virgin Mary. Also, they believe in the resurrection as well as Satan being an

Creationism Vs Creationism
The bible says that such people have no excuse for adopting a view that excludes god. Romans 1:18 says that they are suppressing the truth in their
unrighteousness because god's existence is evident from what he has created. People do not believe there is a god because he is not present. Even
though some people think that modern life evolved over millions of years, creationism is the most believable theory compared to evolution. Within the
secular worldview, intelligent people are feverishly trying to work out clever–sounding ways to try to explain how the universe made itself, life made
itself, and the diversity of life–forms on earth also made themselves. These evolutionists and scientists are operating on the law of cause and effect;
that things do not happen without something sufficient to cause them to happen. But that 'minor point' is overlooked. People can not rely on all of
these points they are making because they have no proof whatsoever, they did not live in the past to witness these things. Creationism, the belief that
the universe and the various forms of life were created by god out of nothing. It is a response to modern evolutionary theory, which explains the
emergence and diversity of life without recourse to the doctrine of god or any other divine power. Mainstream scientists generally reject creationism.
Biblical creationists believe that the story told in the Genesis of God's six–day creation of all things is literally correct. Others, such as old–Earth

Essay on Evolution VS. Creationism
Since the beginning of the human race there has been a lingering question as to the origins of man and how all living things acquired their
characteristics. The two main theories that arose over time were Creationism and Evolution, both of which provided very distinct answers to this
question. Creationism based its answer on the idea of a supernatural power or being that created the entire universe, man and the numerous other
organisms that live within it. While, Evolution theorizes that all living things have the potential to change and grow over time into something new and
different. So in other words, one theory suggests that humans and all the organisms on Earth are the result of divine design, while the other indicates
that they...show more content...
Every one of these flaws points out that the Creationists theory that the Earth, all of the organisms on it, and everything that surrounds it has not
changed or been altered since the flood is inaccurate. Biogeography for example shows that "closely allied" species have a tendency to live on the "same
continent... or within the same group of oceanic islands... despite their species–by–species preferences for different habitats, food source, [and] of
conditions of climate" (Quammen 4). The explanation for this is that "they descended from common ancestors" and this can be verified with the
paleontology flaw because that flaw deals with the fossils of plants and animals "that had [either] become extinct or that still existed but in different
forms" which indicates not only that organisms have changed over time, but also provides evidence that "closely allied" organism have lived in the
same areas of centuries (Quammen 4; Parks 24). Then in the taxonomic classification flaw these "closely allied" spices can be "systematically
classified, according to their shared similarities" which, suggests that "closely allied" organisms descended from common ancestor because of the traits
and similar organs that allows this type of classification (Quammen 5). The presence of these similar traits and organs introduces the flaw of vestigial
characteristics because although some of these do not have any current

As we have learned in class and as we still see now in the modern world, the topic of evolution vs creationism has been one of much dispute. To
many, there is only one side; you either believe in God or in Science, you either believe that Adam and Eve are our ancestors or you believe that
through the years and the changes in the world we have evolved from apes. Whichever side you find yourself on there will always be someone that
disagrees with you and is willing to tell you why you are wrong.
Similarly, to the Scopes Trials in 1925; Edward Humes, an award–winning journalist wrote Monkey Girl: Evolution, Education,Religion, and the Battle
for America's Soul; on the 2005 Scopes Monkey trials in Dover, Pennsylvania. These trials focused on the school board's requirement of including
Intelligent design as a counter to evolution in biology courses and eleven parents arguing that the change was like forcing creationist ideas on their
children. The trials lasted 3 months and caused many to form their opinions and chose a side. In...show more content...
He shows us both side of the coin and basically shows us through writing the spectacle that people made of the trial. Those who sided with the school
rejected evolution but didn't have an actual explanation as to why it was wrong other than that it was just not the truth. For example,Bill Buckingham,
school board member who as Humes writes, "was set up as the villain in the drama (Humes, p.310);" only believed in that America was founded on
religion and he completely rejected evolution without even knowing enough on either of them (Humes, p.310–311). Although in the end Buckingham
and his supporters did lose the trial, it did not hide the fact that there will always be a disagreement when it comes to whether teaching evolution and
not religion in schools is

Reflection On Creationism
For decades, evolution and creationism have been a topic of a broader debate between science and religion. As a product of twelve years of Catholic
school education, my knowledge of evolution is biased. One teacher, specifically, refused to teach the concept of evolution because it conflicted with
her personal beliefs as a practicing nun. My biology teacher, however, taught evolution through multiple perspectives. I am a faith–filled individual
with a scientific mind. There is too much scientific evidence backing evolution to disregard the concept altogether, yet I believe in the role of a higher
being on creation. In regards to human evolution, I believe that our physical makeup has evolved from earlier life form, while our souls were...show

According to their beliefs, there was no need to form scientific theories because everything we need to know is written in scripture. She made the
analogy that scripture is to human knowledge as a manual is to a toaster, signifying that there can be no explanation without a guide. Another
organization that slightly resembled the beliefs of Hare Krishna and forced me to analyze new outlooks was that of the Turkish government, explained
by Paige. They have strict policies that prohibit teachings of evolution prior to a college education because it rivals the country's religion of Islam. The
president of Turkey believes that evolution should only be taught when there is a strong foundation of religion present. This approach made me think;
what if I, as a current college student, had been deprived of universal knowledge until now because the government wanted me to believe in one thing
over another. In response to Hare Krishna and the government of Turkey, many organizations and people stood up for the scientific background
regarding evolution. The National Center for Science Education, portrayed by Eryn, believed that evolution is a building block for most sciences:
biology and chemistry, in particular. The organization fought that without evolution, the country of Turkey would be sufficiently behind in scientific
advancement. They also fight for the

Young Earth Creationism
Are we alone in this universe? Scientists and theologians have for centuries toyed with the idea to provide some sort of explanation of whether or not
there is intelligent life in outer space. The exponential growth of scientific discovery in astronomy due to the advancement of technology and the basic
understanding of life on our planet has increased our understanding of outer space. As a result to this increase in knowledge, researchers are better able
to study the possibility of whether or not there are intelligent beings beyond us in the Galaxy. Theological debate about extraterrestrials has lasted for
centuries in many major religions including Judaism, Roman Catholicism, the Eastern Orthodox churches, Hinduism, Buddhism and many others
(Salisbury, 2014). Currently, science and religion does not have any actual evidence to conclude that intelligent extra terrestrial life exists. However, in
order to satisfy human's thirst for curiousity, there are developed theories in...show more content...
Despite the fact that Young Earth Creationism is a small percentage of Christianity, their ideas are still representative of one perspective from the
religion (Gallup, 2015). A common characteristic of strongly anthropocentric religions is a view of god as a paternalistic father–deity who created the
cosmos with humans as the focal point of the universe (McAdamis, 2011). Christians believe that incarnation occurred only once, on Earth, for human
beings. Theologians in the church have frequently speculated about creation in its largest scope, inclusive of ''other worlds'' that may or may not reside
with the stars in the sky. While different sects within Christianity may differ slightly in details and in emphasis, these human centered doctrines are at
the core of the religion. These questions posed are independent of scientific

Evolution vs. Creationism
The Evolution vs. Creationism controversy goes all the way back to the Publishing of Origin of Species in 1859 by Darwin laying the foundation for
the evolution of life to be understood. Scientists are continuously finding more evidence to support Darwin's conclusion; that organisms descended
from a common ancestor modified by the mechanism of natural selection resulting in the evolution of species adapting to their environment. The
following are the main geological topics concerning creationism: radiometric dating, transitional forms and the Cambrian explosion. Creationism is
nothing more than a child's fairytale that lacks any scientific proof.
The aspect of radiometric dating is controversial to most...show more content...
Plus or minus a couple million years has a negligible effect on the results attempting to be obtained. Radiometric dating consistently prove from
analysis of bolide fragments that the earth is about 4.6 billion years old and once again disproving the Bible's 6,000 years. The problem for
creationism is that they can't prove there 'fairytale' correct because it's based on little fact, so they attempt to make the other valid ideas sound
ridiculous. Therefore, creationism attempts to prove radiometric dating incorrect and is nothing more than a feeble attempt to bring credibility to there
own ideas and beliefs.
Secondly, a once thought problem with evolution was the lack of transitional phases in the fossil record. For example it was once thought there were no
transitional phases between birds and reptiles; this has now been proven false by paleontologists. Archaeopteryx has distinctive avian characteristics
including a wishbone, a bony sternum and feathers (Geology). Several of its reptilian characteristics include unfused metacarpal bones, a long bony tail
and three well developed fingers. What is also interesting is that archaeopteryx lived at the same time as the dinosaurs. Again, it seems as if creationists
randomly start making assumptions in an attempt to slander other valid theories rather than proving there's correct (even thought that's impossible). "If
evolution were true, there would be more transitional

Creationism Essay

  • 1. Creationism Essay In a typical American high school, Mr. Doe, the science teacher begins his discussion on the theory of evolution. John, a student opposes the idea the humans came from apes and evolved. John believes that men came from God and that man was created in 6 days. Jane hears this and argues against John, "How could anything possibly be created in 6 days? This sort of project would take millions of years!" By using up all 45 minutes of class time discussing creationism and evolution, this is a metaphor to the eternal debate as to the origin of the human species. The question of how man came into existence is one of the great debates of this century. There is not enough evidence to support creationism, yet there is even less to support...show more content... Maybe it was that the egg was conceived and gradually came about through carbon molecules millions of years ago. Perhaps, the egg just suddenly appeared! This metaphor of the egg and the chicken does not have an answer just as the question of how humans originated. Only "destiny waits our answer. The choice is ours" (Graham 2). The theory of evolution is still a theory, yet some believe it to be fact. First introduced in 1858, Charles Darwin, the "father of evolution" introduced the idea that a species changes through inherited characteristics over a period of time (Evolution 1128). During the early 19th century is when this "threat to religion began to circulate" (Marlantes 1). Gradual change is what evolution is about, no sudden event could occur. Some may wonder, "if the Creator uses physics and chemistry to run the universe of life, why wouldn't He have used physics and chemistry to produce it, too" (Marlantes 2). Though evolution is one of gradual change, it is sporadic in those changes, whereas creationism is based on a design rather than chance (Seely 6). Evidence proves that man has the power to redefine the boundaries while on the contrary, other species are trapped by their biological nature in their way of life (Sabath 1). Darwin and his theory are the beginnings of the pre–evolutionary trend toward natural philosophy. There is hard evidence, fossils that prove that we came from something. Creationism vs. Evolution Essay Creationism is the theory that man, the earth, and the rest of the universe was originally created rather than randomly exploding from nothingness into chance existence. We reside on the surface of a small superbly crafted, autonomous self regulating space vehicle. Together with survival, conquest and death we bear witness to beauty, fragrances, love and music. Think about this. Mathematics, philosophy, springtime, depravity, farming, courtship, quasars, and iphones; all came from nothingness?, formed by chance......? • 3. Creationism vs. Evolution Essay Where we come from is a question as old as mankind itself. There are countless numbers of religions, each with their own twist on the origins of earth and mankind, but one of the most highly visible debates would be creationism vs. evolution. Depending on where your beliefs lie, the Earth has been around somewhere in the neighborhood of 6,000 years to 4.5 billion years. One would tend to believe that this vast difference in time would make it impossible to have 2 "theories" that are so widely accepted. However this debate gives you just that. Each argument has its variations, however it comes down to either God created the Earth and all things in it as they are now or that life today has evolved from a...show more content... Under the same idea, the "Old Earth" train of thought is that the "days" mentioned in Genesis were actually up to many millions of years each. This is one of many "theories" that justifies the actual age of the Earth being around 4.5 billion years old. The third view states that the story of creation contained in Genesis is not a literal or even a chronological account of happenings. It is instead a guide promoting a six–day workweek with the seventh day a day of worship to God. The last view is much like the second, in that it considers the "days" to be God's workdays, which may or may not be equal to an Earth calendar day. Each day represents a period of time that God performed a major task. Each view has the same underlying concept that God created everything, and the way it is today, it the way it was when it was created. Webster's Dictionary defines evolution as a theory that the various types of animals and plants have their origin in other preexisting types and that the distinguishable differences are due to modification in successive generations. Like creation, evolution is not immune from differing of opinions. Evolution is split between two frames of though, naturalistic and theistic. Naturalistic evolution is pretty much cut and dry. It simply states that life started as a single one–celled organism. The universe was created 14 billion years ago, and the Earth was Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Creationism vs. Evolution Essay Since the Age of the Enlightenment, the institution of religion has had to contend with the opposition of science regarding the issues of the origins of the world and of the human species. Up until around the end of the 17th century, the church was the authority on how the world and everything in it had come to be. However, with the great intellectual revolution came thinkers such as Galileo, Copernicus, Bacon, Descartes, and many others who challenged the biblical assumptions with empirically deduced scientific theories. The Catholic Church had a nasty habit of persecuting such ideological dissent toward creationism, calling it heresy and thereby somewhat suppressing a complete upheaval of the Scriptures. For many centuries to come, ...show more content... The representatives of the ACLU were willing to defend any person willing to face trial for teaching the subject in schools in order to contest the law and bring its nature into the national limelight. The town leaders of Dayton obliged, being glad for the opportunity of some publicity. William Jennings Bryan represented the State of Tennessee and staked his claim saying that the State of Tennessee "has already held that this act is constitutional, it being the law of the land, there is but one issue before this court and jury, and that is, did the defendant violate the statute" (Bryan). Bryan felt that the defense had no case because the trial was not to debate the constitutionality of a law, but to prove that said law was broken. The prosecution discovered that they needed to argue the irrationality of teaching evolution and claimed that it was only a mysterious theory and could not possibly have expert testimonies. The prosecution also argued that because science was the enabler of modern warfare, it was also a source of evil; evil should not be taught in schools. Bryan said that no teacher had the right either, to cause ideological conflict within the home by influencing a child with theories contrary to their parentally instilled religious background Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Evolution Vs. Creationism Essay Evolution vs. Creationism Abstract In the history of science vs. religion there have been no issues more intensely debated than evolution vs. creationism. The issue is passionately debated since the majority of evidence is in favor of evolution, but the creation point of view can never be proved wrong because of religious belief. Human creation breaks down into three simple beliefs; creation theory, naturalistic evolution theory, and theistic evolution theory. The complexities of all three sides create a dilemma for what theory to support among all people, religious and non–religious. Evolution vs. Creationism The theories of human evolution may always cause a heated dispute. Each theory presents its own evidence proving...show more content... Until science proves its naturalistic theory correct, the world will have to choose between the three theories based on personal beliefs, religious values, and scientific information. The creation theory includes over 500 different creation stories based on numerous religions (Religious Tolerance, 2004). The vast number of stories creates strains on which evolution story is accurate. Christians that are creationists take the bible literally and believe the earth is around 10,000 years old. Religious tolerance states that the acceptance of evolution would make people interpret Genesis symbolically and classify evolution stories as myths. Since the creation stories are closely tied to the fall of man and to original sin, the entire role of Jesus would change. Without original sin, there would be no need for a savior, and Christianity would change drastically. This further proves that the creation theory will live as long as religion. The Gallup Organization studies what percentages of Americans believe in each of

  • 7. Creationism Bobby Rappach 11–1–12 Mr. Boyle Creationism The concept of Creationism has been around since a monotheistic Abrahamic God. It is nothing more than a literal interpretation of the creation story of Genesis as a basis for the creation of everything in the universe. Until the early 1500's it was the common belief that the world was flat and this is one the only exceptions that creationist sects have excepted when it comes to modern day science along with the earth not being the center of the universe. Today's definition can be understood as Christianity and Catholicism until the years surrounding 1500AD. Even after such discoveries it had a large amount of belief compared to new scientific discoveries. As scientific advances over ...show more content... In geology, instead of the Earth's rock layers forming over millions of years they believe that Noah's Great Flood brought upon the shape of mountains and diverse amounts of hills, valleys, plateaus etc. One of the greatest controversies when it comes to creationists is the idea of dinosaurs and humans. Today the average person could tell you that dinosaurs were around before humans, but not creationists. They believe that along with other animals, dinosaurs were brought on Noah's Ark and died out due to rapid climate change. Since dinosaurs were not mentioned in the bible, they were referred to as dragons, behemoths, and leviathans brings upon the idea in their mind that they lived along side the ancient people mentioned in the bible. In this they denounce the geology of dating rocks and fossils by criticizing the formula used to date them back millions of years. In chemistry they have said that the carbon dating of radioactive isotopes is incorrect because of the lack of 100% accuracy while being relatively close, they have created there own formula which no matter how they date it, it will always come to a conclusion of less than 10,000 years ago. Away from the science controversy in their belief, on a theological level they believe most of the same views as Catholics. There are three persons in one God as well as Jesus being born of the Virgin Mary. Also, they believe in the resurrection as well as Satan being an Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Creationism Vs Creationism The bible says that such people have no excuse for adopting a view that excludes god. Romans 1:18 says that they are suppressing the truth in their unrighteousness because god's existence is evident from what he has created. People do not believe there is a god because he is not present. Even though some people think that modern life evolved over millions of years, creationism is the most believable theory compared to evolution. Within the secular worldview, intelligent people are feverishly trying to work out clever–sounding ways to try to explain how the universe made itself, life made itself, and the diversity of life–forms on earth also made themselves. These evolutionists and scientists are operating on the law of cause and effect; that things do not happen without something sufficient to cause them to happen. But that 'minor point' is overlooked. People can not rely on all of these points they are making because they have no proof whatsoever, they did not live in the past to witness these things. Creationism, the belief that the universe and the various forms of life were created by god out of nothing. It is a response to modern evolutionary theory, which explains the emergence and diversity of life without recourse to the doctrine of god or any other divine power. Mainstream scientists generally reject creationism. Biblical creationists believe that the story told in the Genesis of God's six–day creation of all things is literally correct. Others, such as old–Earth Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Essay on Evolution VS. Creationism Since the beginning of the human race there has been a lingering question as to the origins of man and how all living things acquired their characteristics. The two main theories that arose over time were Creationism and Evolution, both of which provided very distinct answers to this question. Creationism based its answer on the idea of a supernatural power or being that created the entire universe, man and the numerous other organisms that live within it. While, Evolution theorizes that all living things have the potential to change and grow over time into something new and different. So in other words, one theory suggests that humans and all the organisms on Earth are the result of divine design, while the other indicates that they...show more content... Every one of these flaws points out that the Creationists theory that the Earth, all of the organisms on it, and everything that surrounds it has not changed or been altered since the flood is inaccurate. Biogeography for example shows that "closely allied" species have a tendency to live on the "same continent... or within the same group of oceanic islands... despite their species–by–species preferences for different habitats, food source, [and] of conditions of climate" (Quammen 4). The explanation for this is that "they descended from common ancestors" and this can be verified with the paleontology flaw because that flaw deals with the fossils of plants and animals "that had [either] become extinct or that still existed but in different forms" which indicates not only that organisms have changed over time, but also provides evidence that "closely allied" organism have lived in the same areas of centuries (Quammen 4; Parks 24). Then in the taxonomic classification flaw these "closely allied" spices can be "systematically classified, according to their shared similarities" which, suggests that "closely allied" organisms descended from common ancestor because of the traits and similar organs that allows this type of classification (Quammen 5). The presence of these similar traits and organs introduces the flaw of vestigial characteristics because although some of these do not have any current Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. As we have learned in class and as we still see now in the modern world, the topic of evolution vs creationism has been one of much dispute. To many, there is only one side; you either believe in God or in Science, you either believe that Adam and Eve are our ancestors or you believe that through the years and the changes in the world we have evolved from apes. Whichever side you find yourself on there will always be someone that disagrees with you and is willing to tell you why you are wrong. Similarly, to the Scopes Trials in 1925; Edward Humes, an award–winning journalist wrote Monkey Girl: Evolution, Education,Religion, and the Battle for America's Soul; on the 2005 Scopes Monkey trials in Dover, Pennsylvania. These trials focused on the school board's requirement of including Intelligent design as a counter to evolution in biology courses and eleven parents arguing that the change was like forcing creationist ideas on their children. The trials lasted 3 months and caused many to form their opinions and chose a side. In...show more content... He shows us both side of the coin and basically shows us through writing the spectacle that people made of the trial. Those who sided with the school rejected evolution but didn't have an actual explanation as to why it was wrong other than that it was just not the truth. For example,Bill Buckingham, school board member who as Humes writes, "was set up as the villain in the drama (Humes, p.310);" only believed in that America was founded on religion and he completely rejected evolution without even knowing enough on either of them (Humes, p.310–311). Although in the end Buckingham and his supporters did lose the trial, it did not hide the fact that there will always be a disagreement when it comes to whether teaching evolution and not religion in schools is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Reflection On Creationism For decades, evolution and creationism have been a topic of a broader debate between science and religion. As a product of twelve years of Catholic school education, my knowledge of evolution is biased. One teacher, specifically, refused to teach the concept of evolution because it conflicted with her personal beliefs as a practicing nun. My biology teacher, however, taught evolution through multiple perspectives. I am a faith–filled individual with a scientific mind. There is too much scientific evidence backing evolution to disregard the concept altogether, yet I believe in the role of a higher being on creation. In regards to human evolution, I believe that our physical makeup has evolved from earlier life form, while our souls were...show more content... According to their beliefs, there was no need to form scientific theories because everything we need to know is written in scripture. She made the analogy that scripture is to human knowledge as a manual is to a toaster, signifying that there can be no explanation without a guide. Another organization that slightly resembled the beliefs of Hare Krishna and forced me to analyze new outlooks was that of the Turkish government, explained by Paige. They have strict policies that prohibit teachings of evolution prior to a college education because it rivals the country's religion of Islam. The president of Turkey believes that evolution should only be taught when there is a strong foundation of religion present. This approach made me think; what if I, as a current college student, had been deprived of universal knowledge until now because the government wanted me to believe in one thing over another. In response to Hare Krishna and the government of Turkey, many organizations and people stood up for the scientific background regarding evolution. The National Center for Science Education, portrayed by Eryn, believed that evolution is a building block for most sciences: biology and chemistry, in particular. The organization fought that without evolution, the country of Turkey would be sufficiently behind in scientific advancement. They also fight for the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Young Earth Creationism Are we alone in this universe? Scientists and theologians have for centuries toyed with the idea to provide some sort of explanation of whether or not there is intelligent life in outer space. The exponential growth of scientific discovery in astronomy due to the advancement of technology and the basic understanding of life on our planet has increased our understanding of outer space. As a result to this increase in knowledge, researchers are better able to study the possibility of whether or not there are intelligent beings beyond us in the Galaxy. Theological debate about extraterrestrials has lasted for centuries in many major religions including Judaism, Roman Catholicism, the Eastern Orthodox churches, Hinduism, Buddhism and many others (Salisbury, 2014). Currently, science and religion does not have any actual evidence to conclude that intelligent extra terrestrial life exists. However, in order to satisfy human's thirst for curiousity, there are developed theories in...show more content... Despite the fact that Young Earth Creationism is a small percentage of Christianity, their ideas are still representative of one perspective from the religion (Gallup, 2015). A common characteristic of strongly anthropocentric religions is a view of god as a paternalistic father–deity who created the cosmos with humans as the focal point of the universe (McAdamis, 2011). Christians believe that incarnation occurred only once, on Earth, for human beings. Theologians in the church have frequently speculated about creation in its largest scope, inclusive of ''other worlds'' that may or may not reside with the stars in the sky. While different sects within Christianity may differ slightly in details and in emphasis, these human centered doctrines are at the core of the religion. • 13. Evolution vs. Creationism Essay Evolution vs. Creationism The Evolution vs. Creationism controversy goes all the way back to the Publishing of Origin of Species in 1859 by Darwin laying the foundation for the evolution of life to be understood. Scientists are continuously finding more evidence to support Darwin's conclusion; that organisms descended from a common ancestor modified by the mechanism of natural selection resulting in the evolution of species adapting to their environment. The following are the main geological topics concerning creationism: radiometric dating, transitional forms and the Cambrian explosion. Creationism is nothing more than a child's fairytale that lacks any scientific proof. The aspect of radiometric dating is controversial to most...show more content... Plus or minus a couple million years has a negligible effect on the results attempting to be obtained. Radiometric dating consistently prove from analysis of bolide fragments that the earth is about 4.6 billion years old and once again disproving the Bible's 6,000 years. The problem for creationism is that they can't prove there 'fairytale' correct because it's based on little fact, so they attempt to make the other valid ideas sound ridiculous. Therefore, creationism attempts to prove radiometric dating incorrect and is nothing more than a feeble attempt to bring credibility to there own ideas and beliefs. Secondly, a once thought problem with evolution was the lack of transitional phases in the fossil record. For example it was once thought there were no transitional phases between birds and reptiles; this has now been proven false by paleontologists. Archaeopteryx has distinctive avian characteristics including a wishbone, a bony sternum and feathers (Geology). Several of its reptilian characteristics include unfused metacarpal bones, a long bony tail and three well developed fingers. What is also interesting is that archaeopteryx lived at the same time as the dinosaurs. Again, it seems as if creationists randomly start making assumptions in an attempt to slander other valid theories rather than proving there's correct (even thought that's impossible). "If evolution were true, there would be more transitional Get more content on HelpWriting.net
