The Cultural Center of the Philippines
(CCP) is a corporation owned by the
government and is established to
preserve, develop and promote arts
and culture in the Philippines.
2. ROLE OF CULTURAL CENTER OF THE PHILIPPINES
β The CCP provides performance and exhibition venues for various local and
international productions at the Cultural Center of the Philippines
Complex located in Pasay and Manila. Its artistic programs include the
production of performances, festivals, exhibitions, cultural research,
outreach, preservation, and publication of materials on Philippine art and
culture.
3. ROLE OF CULTURAL CENTER OF THE PHILIPPINES
β The CCP encourages the growth of aspiring artists, arts managers and new
audiences through master classes, workshops, and online educational
resources.
β Advances the practice in technical theater and design and takes the lead in
the professionalization of stagecraft and venue management in the country.
β Digitizes the cultural content of the Center and designs interactive websites
to make this available to students, teachers, and enthusiasts via the Internet.

The Order of National Artist of the
Philippines
6. β The order is jointly administered by the National Commission
for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Cultural Center of the
Philippines (CCP) and conferred by the President of the
Philippines upon recommendation by both institutions.
The Order of National Artist of the Philippines
β Established order by Ferdinand Marcosβ Proclamation No. 1001
of April 2, 1972.
8. CRITERIA: National Artist
β Living artists who have been Filipino citizens for the last
ten years prior to nomination as well as those who have died
after the establishment of the award in 1972 but were
Filipino citizens at the time of their death.

9. CRITERIA: National Artist
β Artists who have helped build a Filipino sense of nationhood
through the content and form of their works.
β Artists who have created a significant body of works and/or have
consistently displayed excellence in the practice of their art
form, enriching artistic expression or style.

12. GAMABA AWARD
β The Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan, or
the National Living Treasures Award, is
conferred on Filipinos who are at the
forefront of the practice, preservation,
and promotion of the nationβs
traditional folk arts.

13. CRITERIA
β Possess a mastery of tools and materials needed for the traditional, folk art
and be a maker of works of extraordinary technical quality;
β Have engaged in a traditional and folk art which has been in existence and
documented for at least fifty (50) years;
β Must have transferred and/or willing to transfer to other members of the
community the skills in the traditional and folk arts for which the
community has become nationally known.
14. GAMABA AWARDS AND INCENTIVES
β The awardee receives a specially designed medallion/plaque.
β The awardee is given an initial grant of P100,000 and a P14,000
lifetime stipend per month.
β The awardee is granted a maximum cumulative amount of
P750,000 medical and hospitalization benefits as well as funeral
assistance similar as those received by the National Artists.
