I am a former biological sciences student with industry experience working on the Covance
Harrogate site as part of the ElISA team. I have a proactive approach to work and life and am looking
to join a progressive and exciting department in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry.

Experimental Officer 1
Used software tools including SoftMax Pro, word and excel for sample process and analysis
generating spreadsheets/tables of my results.
Performed batch release and stability testing to GMP and SOP guidelines improving my time
management whilst regularly mentoring less experienced members of staff.
Signed off as a quality control document checker and gained an excellent understanding of
GMP regulations. Developed good problem solving skills addressing comments and
observations raised by Quality Assurance.
Responsible for advising and reporting to management during a client visit. Performed client
work outside normal duties increasing my adaptability and ability to prioritise my workload.
Acted as health and safety representative for my department identifying and escalating any

Duties Included:
Responsible for serving and advising hotel guests, resolving customer issues and catering for
weddings and other events large and small.
Ensuring bar was well maintained with stock levels and till takings correct.

Negotiated professionally with difficult customers developing my explanation and reasoning
skills.
Organised the bar effectively to cater for big parties of people and dealt with large sums of
money strengthening my time management and record keeping.
Communicated effectively with managers reporting feedback on stock levels and customer
satisfaction.

Wash Up
Duties included:
Performed kitchen maintenance including cleaning of walk in fridge and dough machine.
Supplied kitchen and customers with clean plates, eating and cooking utensils.

Communicated with chefs and staff members to prioritise tasks ensuring smooth running of
the restaurant.
Coped well under pressure when short staffed and developed stamina dealing with large
volumes of customers.

Skills Developed:
Excellent research and analysis skills developed during final year dissertation investigating
the WSB1 protein interactome. The collation of project data and submittal to departmental
guidelines greatly improved my attention to detail.
Prioritised dissertation lab work including cell bank production, SDS PAGE and Western blot
techniques and manged these with report writing duties.
Represented numerous group projects and presented final year research data to piers and
senior lecturers promoting great communication and presentation skills.
Efficient approach to work and record keeping skills shown during two semester field trip to
Cuba. We performed a data collection survey with limited support and produced a research
paper of our findings.
Regularly worked in small groups in leading roles planning and conducting laboratory
experiments developing strong teamwork skills and responsibility.

Activities and Achievements
Travelled for several months (Nov 2015 – May 2016) throughout South East Asia and India
developing my flexibility and problem solving skills whilst gaining understanding of different
people and cultures.
Gained event organisation experience whilst volunteering as a sports leader at my high
school. Responsible for running sporting exercises and organising sports days for local
primary schools.
Developed communication and initiative skills competing in charity jailbreak contest for
Kidscan. Travelled from Hull to Dover and back for free and was sponsored for every mile.
