2. WORK EXPERIENCE
2.1 HEYMAN ATTORNEYS JULY 2011 – PRESENT
IT and INPUT MANAGER
I have started working for Heyman Attorneys by request of Mr. Heyman and Ms. Gloria Nell.
Generally I oversee all the networking in and out Heyman Attorneys.
We also work with the new clients from the very start up until we complete lodgement of claims, where
we then turn this files over to the attorneys for Summons.
Client's transportation and appointments also go through this office.
We work a lot with the SAPS, Metro and Hospital / Clinics throughout South Africa for various
documents and statements.
2.2 SATLINK Inc. JANUARY 2008 – JULY 2011
CO-OWNER of Business
SATLINK Inc. was a small business started by Gys Messemaker in the 1990. At this point he was only
installing DStv for Multi Choice. I came in this business to expand it to more opportunities. We started to
various sections in SATLINK:- the Satellite and Sound section managed by Gys, the Networking and
Fibre section and the Electrical section was manage by me. We were responsible for our own
outlay in business from project planning, buying, selling and controlling of business and stock. In 2009
we expanded SATLINK in another section called Air-conditioning, managed by me. In this section we
done installations, repairs and maintenance on mostly the Embassies in Pretoria's air-cons. We also
stocked and sold air-cons over the counter.
We also worked under contract for Marula Sun, Carousel, Square One and FABCOM, supplying labour,
project management and stock for above mentioned companies in TV, sound, fibre and networking,
electrical and air-cons. I have worked all over South Africa, Mozambique and Angola.
Reason for leaving:- Square One came under SARS audit and their doors was closed. They were owning
us over R750 000-00 and could not pay us. The work we have done for the government through SITA did
not pay as agreed, and there is still around +R400 000-00 outstanding with no success of getting this
money in. I closed my doors and started to work for Heyman Attorneys. Gys closed his doors two years
later and is working now from home.
2.3 FABCOM +- 2004 – DECEMBER 2007
IT PROJECT MANAGER
Was a network and fibre installation and maintenance company that contracted for Sun International,
various mine groups, companies and small businesses. Here I have overseen all the IT projects done in
Sun International and also stayed in Sun City and travelled from their to all the other outside jobs.
I was accountable for business development at FABCOM and had to manage the staff for who work
where and when. I was responsible for all the material needed for the various jobs in. I planned and
bought material needed from the suppliers and had it delivered to the various sites as needed. What I did
not had in my different stores on various sites that I controlled, I had to fill on from our suppliers. Projects
differed from size and some of these projects was over 30 Million rand.
I have worked in Swaziland, Mozambique, Zambia and Angola Luanda.
Reason for leaving:- The two owners was fighting one another and in November 2007 I was forced to
make a choice with whom I will work with after this business was split. I resigned and went in business
with a friend to expand his business SATLINK.
2.4 TELKOM DECEMBER 1984 -- +-2004
TECHNICAL OFF FIELD COORDINATOR
I qualified as a Telecom Electrician after three years on 04 December 1987. Was stationed in Tolwe where
I took the management over after three years. Was moved to Marken around 1990 to oversee all new
project and was in control of Tolwe and Marken technical areas for maintenance, stores and new projects.
Studied further with Telkom and filled the post in Ellisras as the new technical coordinator for the
Northern Province (as known in those days).
In 1991 I started a small business registered as MAMSI Inc. I was always looking for doing more than
just the normal 8 – 5 jobs. I started of with a security equipment selling, installing and maintaining and
expanded this business further into electric fencing and gate and garage door motorising. A year later we
started to build houses, expanding and furbished houses.
I left Telkom in around 2001 as a permanent job and only worked for Telkom part time.
In 2003 I expanded again and opened a security company under MAMSI Inc. Went for a course at Ellisras
Technical College for Business Bookkeeping and started to do some small businesses books for auditing.
At this point I had over thirty five permanent workers and four that was in a management position helping
me to build MAMSI Inc. We worked in South Africa as well as in Botswana. I was also a member of the
Lephalale Moral Regeneration movement and sat on the Lephalale Municipal Council.
Reason for giving MAMSI Inc. up:- I went through a painful divorce.
