FMP idea?
I will be creating a digitally drawn 2Danimated
trailer for a self-created hypothetical
Metroidvania-stylegame.
Why have youdecided to makeit? I wanted tocreate an animationwith a different
context andstyle to my FMP last year, anda
videogametrailer worked well to fit thisrole.
What aboutyourproject makesit importantto
you?
The contentsof the videogamewill feature
settings, creatures, buildingsetc. of my own
creation that I began to create prior tothis project
as a hobby, andsoI feel more of a personal
connectiontowards the work.

What effect do youwant to haveon your
audience when they see yourproject?
I want to excite my audience aboutmy
hypotheticalgame anddraw them into the world
thatI show them. Additionally, I want to provide
an authenticexperience thatthe audience can
identify with the Metroidvania gamegenre.
Describe the tone/mood/styleofyourproject
[which productiontechniques/characteristicsare
youemploying?]
I want to create a mix of digitally drawn and
effects animationto properly capture the
ambience of the different areas I show in the
trailer. Furthermore, I want each area to haveits
own uniquetone in order to makeit obviousto
the audience where the player is. Thiswill lead
some areas tohave moodiercolours, such as dark
blues for deep oceans, whilst otherareas have a
mix of brighter colours, suchas in a coral reef or a
flowery field. I plan to makethe scale and
interconnectednessof the world obvioustothe
viewer.
Overall, I wantthe video to havea feel of intense
action in order to excite the viewer whilst drawing
them intothe world that I havecreated. The art-
2. style thatI use will utilise hardblack outlineson
the characters which will be made upof 2-3
coloursin order tokeep their designssimple and
memorable whilst allowing the viewer to
immediately understandif they are a friend or
foe.
Why have youdecided to makeyour project in
this style?
I want the audience to be immediately drawn into
the game andhave a basic understandingofthe
world it is set in. This wouldallow the trailer to
stick in the viewer’s head, and the game be a topic
of discussion. Formyself personally, I want to
explore a new area of animation, andvideogames
is a genre thatI haven’tproperly worked with yet
(with the exception of one of our practice projects
last year). Additionally, I want toexperiment with
SFX animation, a completely new area to me. My
hopeis thatI can go to university with as diverse a
set of skills as possiblewhilst still being realistic in
my ability to finish this FMP with a goodgrade.
