How To Write A Class Observation
My own class observation was for my 1st grade class. The art specialist was Benjamin Bragonier and lasted for one hour and thirty minutes. He was
teaching the art lesson drawing with shapes (circles). The kids were instructed to make circles by just cutting corners only. They were also
instructed to make circles by using black tip marker and going around and around until they got a good circle. The circles were matted onto tag
board and circular designs were place into the bigger circles made by the students. The way that Mr. Bragonier showed the students the steps to the art
lesson were truly impressive. He would give the students the direction for the first portion of the lesson at the carpet area and have them go back to
their seats and

My Observation At A Elementary Classroom
During my observation time in a kindergarten classroom, I have noticed that the students have a wide variety of abilities, attention spans, interests, and
love for learning. When it comes to the teacher's instructional strategies, she intentionally takes into consideration all of the above characteristics to
make sure each student gets what they need to be most successful. During lessons students are engaged because of the teacher's ability to implement
interests of the student's into things and giving them options. If an error occurs during a lesson, the teacher normally, allows for the student who got
something wrong to try again, or to call on a friend to help them out. This way the students are still giving the answers and not the teacher just telling
them the information. The teacher chooses a lot of small group instruction and centers where she can work with a small group, but then, easily
monitor all the other groups to make sure they are on task and doing their work. The classroom is organized so that the student's stuff and the teacher's
stuff should not cross paths. The students keep their materials in their cubbies at one end of the room, their pencil boxes at their seats, and their book
boxes on the floor. The teacher's stuff is located on her desk, and the back table where small group stuff gets done. The classroom setting is definitely
positive and interesting because it has a minion theme. Children in that age range love minions most of the time and

English Classroom Observation Report
This section of the project is divided in three areas:
пЃ¶General considerations:
I have drawn my empirical data from the observations carried out in a Kindergarten I have been observing since March.
Regarding the English teacher, she has utter freedom in what and how to teach. Nevertheless, she tries to plan the lessons with the main teacher to try
to present the learners similar vocabulary in Spanish and in English. The aim of the institution is that students can approach to English in a friendly
and positive atmosphere. Regarding the group I have been observing, it is integrated by 12 learners, aged 3 and 4 years old.
пЃ¶Classroom features:...show more content...
Closing the lesson with a greeting is also recommendable "goodbye students" "have a nice week" and before we even notice they have incorporated
these expressions into their lessons vocabulary. The teacherВґs rationale for doing so is that repetition and recalling vocabulary is the best way to
reaffirm what they have learnt so far.
Use of visual materials. The classroom is full of billboards, flash cards, big images, cardboards which from what I observed are suitable to teach
vocabulary. They enjoy visual activities such as pointing things in a cardboard, etc.
Watching videos in English. As observed, they are keen on this activity. At the end of every class they were shown a video about the vocabulary
presented in the lesson. Videos often include songs, personally I think it is a good combination between visual and audio materials.
I organized the information I gathered in the observations in a personal Portfolio, where I keep my notes of every lesson, a summary of the lesson
plan, useful tips and recommendations of the teacher and a copy of the activities presented by her.

practice.

Classroom Observation
Properly conducted classroom observation is a powerful tool in the continuing professional development of teachers. The revised performance
management arrangement for teachers, which came into force on 1 September, 2007, clearly set the expectation that classroom observations are to be
developmental in nature and multi–purpose in usage. The Education ( School Teacher Performance Management) Regulations 2006 state that the total
period of classroom observation allowed per performance management cycle should not exceed three hours and, in many cases, will be less, depending
on individual circumstances. The performance management regulations require that classroom observation, and the performance management cycle,

Classroom Research and Second Language Development:– The success of a course of language studies in a classroomis judged in terms of the product,
that is, the learners' terminal proficiency. To do this a number of tests and examinations are available which measure that proficiency. However, the
examinations themselves can never inform us of the role that classroom work played in the scores obtained. In the classroom interaction occurs
interactionn between teachers, learners and materials. This is the essential element of the classroom. An important step in the classroom is the image
that the observer presents. Sometimes, no doubt, observers are perceived, as Rosen vividly puts it, as ' sinister figures in the wings, faintly
contemptuous, armed with the paraphernalia of expertise and tapping ominously their research findings.' Such an image would be totally incompatible
with ethnographic research which crucially depends on a relationship of trust. If the classroom ethnographer is regarded as an evaluator or inspector,
the entire enterprise becomes impossible. This is of central importance to Classroom Research. Neutrality in Classroom Research means studying the
interaction as it occurs in the context, from the perspective of those that are being studied. This can be done through participant observation or

Students A, B, E and F from previous were present for my final observation in the classroom, the other students were not present because they were
either recovering from an illness or surgery.
I was told that on most Mondays, the kids tend to be less willing to pay attention in class and work on task. For the most part this was the case,

I could tell that she recognized some of the numbers and with some help she was able to appropriately mark them on the card. The next activity was
reading and a test of memory at the end in the form of a worksheet where the students glued pictures in appropriate boxes according to the story. After
this, we spent the end of the day doing the classroom jobs with the students: recycling, backpack check, etc.
2. Provide an overall summary of the students and the activities you observed and participated in for the five different visits. Note any new
experiences you had, specific concepts you learned about in class applied in the classroom, and your overall opinion on the special education
environment and support provided to students with special needs.
I have never experienced a classroom quite like the one I was placed at this semester. The Children's Institute, a hospital and day school combined in
one building is an amazing organization. They provide comprehensive support and a positive learning environment for kids that really need it the
most. The teachers and aides are all very friendly and patient, and the nurses are on call to help out if a student needs assistance.
The environment in the classrooms was always very positive and supportive. I noticed that the teacher and aides were always encouraging the students
to be independent in little ways. For example, though the majority of students

Observing in classrooms provide future teachers many opportunities to gain valuable experience in a real classroom. I completed my observation
hours at two schools, Sandlick Elementary and L.F. Addington Middle school. All the teachers I observed were very nice and helped me in any way
they could. Because I observed at two schools I was able to see the difference in the approach and learning of material from elementary to middle
school. I have gained valuable information from observing, which will enable me to teach my future students proficiently and effectively. While
observing at Sandlick Elementary school I was placed with Mrs. Robin Belcher in the third grade. I observed Mrs. Belcher's classroom at a critical
time, as they were preparing to take the Benchmark test. I observed Mrs. Belcher for three consecutive days two of which were spent reviewing for
the upcoming test. Mrs. Belcher used worksheets to review previously covered material. While observing the third grade classroom, I was able to
provide one on one help for some students. Mrs. Belcher had three to five students in her classroom who had implemented Individualized Education
Plans. Mrs. Belcher primarily allowed me to work with her special needs students. I worked with one student in particular on understanding the
meaning of the vocabulary words that were covered. To help the student, I read all the definitions to her and then asked her to tell me each word's
meaning. I also sat with one student while she

Classroom Observation
I use to believe that being a teacher was going to be eight hours of teaching and being with children. Being a teacher seemed to be the easiest career
choice out there for me. After viewing the students of all ages and levels, I have changed my opinion of teaching. There is an unknown side to the
world that can only be seen when inside a classroom. Watching the students have made me realize that being a teacher will carry some difficulties.
Observing has made me realize that there is more to teaching, the classroom, and what goes on inside.

The teachers made the room feel welcoming to the students. The teacher placed pillows, plants, and posters around the room to make the room more
inviting. The students seem to love the room and teacher. In the intermediate school, the classrooms had only a minor difference from the
elementary. The teacher had her classroom set up in groups and also had the safe feeling to it.
The only difference was that both teachers I observed had different college information placed in their rooms. Both teachers had college posters and
memorabilia around the room. I felt that the teachers were sending a positive message about furthering her student's information. In the middle school
however, students sat two to a table. The room felt bland without having any posters or decorations of any kind. The room did not have the warm
inviting feeling to it as did the elementary and intermediate schools. In high school, the room had the same uninviting feeling to it. The students in the
classroom sat at a desk all to themselves. They were placed in rows making it hard for any talking to occur. The room had no posters and no
decorations of any sort. As the ages of the students grew, I noticed the rooms changed with them. While in elementary school, teachers made their
rooms inviting. Teachers wanted to get their students to feel welcome. However in high school, students did not have the same

I had the pleasure of observing a classroom containing kindergarteners through second graders. In these classes I observed two students. One male
one female. They had a variety of different traits and displayed skills to provide information of their development. Each of these children was at
different stage of their development. I also visited a special needs classroom. They had a variety of traits that showed their development as well. They
differ from the other students I observed.
Average school aged children gain the ability to cut straight lines and cut out shapes with scissors. They usually have a noticeable preference for the
right or left hand. They are able to participate more in self care by brushing their own teeth and, for the...show more content...
She couldn't cut straight or even stay in the lines of her picture. She had a hard time creating the project. She was however very good at memorizing
everything she needed to for her project. Socially she was actively talking to other students and would even try to help them memorize the material.
She was very polite and friendly.
These observations were just a few of the many students in the classroom. Each of them had displayed a variety of traits but I choose these four to
provide examples of development in early children in the school setting. Many excelled socially, but others had trouble. Many were showing great
physical development, but many didn't. All children develop at different speeds. But these are just a few examples I observed. I hope to continue my
observations in my own time and one day teach these children so I can watch them grow and develop. I love children and observing them is a great

Classroom Observation
1. What grade level are you observing?
So far I have observed an ESL kindergarten class at Willbern Elementary.
2. What is the school environment like? (Positive/negative?) Describe how the children interact with each other and to adults.
The school environment was very positive. The children interacted with each other in a positive manner, playing with each other and having very little
issues. When they did have issues, they weren't afraid to go to the teacher and let her know what was going on. I didn't notice any major issues when
the kids were playing, and instead I noticed the kids trying to help each other out when they needed assistance and being very supportive of each other.
During recess I noticed that the children went to whatever teacher was closest to them if they had issues, instead of just seeking out their specific
teacher. This indicates to me that the environment is incredibly positive if the students are comfortable with all the teachers and are free to report any
problems they have.
3. What does the teacher do that you like? Do not like?
I liked how the teacher handled discipline. She would get the rest of the class busy on an activity before going to a problem student and talking with
them. She would resolve the issue quickly and quietly, so none of the other students would know and the student in trouble wouldn't be embarrassed. I
also liked how she handled technology issues. There were 4 computers in the classroom that the students would take turns

Reflection On The Classroom Observation
Classroom Observations
Introduction
I chose to observe Mrs. Tijerina for my classroom observation. There are many reasons why I decided to observe Mrs. Tijerina. I elected to observe
Mrs. Tijerina so I could see another teacher's perspective on teaching Spanish, as she and Mrs. Fiechter are the only Spanish teachers in the school.
Furthermore, I never had Mrs. Tijerina for Spanish 2, as the teacher I had left Adams Central. Additionally within the hour I was observing, there
were many sophomore students that I knew personally so I was able to ask them on their options of the class. Finally, Mrs. Tijerina's goal was to
teach in a similar way to Mrs. Fiechter's teaching, and by observing her I was able to compare and contrast the two...show more content...
Bulletin boards reside on the north and south walls. Construction paper cut–outs of essential Spanish phrases and pictures are scattered on the board for
flair and to produce a vidi image. Encouraging posters inhabit the south side of the wall. All pieces of furnitures are labeled with their Spanish term to
help the students learn objects. The atmosphere of the room is energetic and radiant as you can help but feel warm inside. Mrs. Tijerina developed the
room to encourage learning while maintain a fun and exciting aura. Students enjoy the layout of the room and find that the layout of the furniture and
objects benefit them while learning.
Observations (put student/teacher relationship here???)
Mrs. Tijerina has a sturdy relationship built with her students. She has desire to see them succeed and flourish in the Spanish culture while mining
high expectations. Mrs. Tijerina wants every single student to be involved or to give feedback. There was not a single student in the classroom that
did not participate in discussion or did not have a chance to voice their opinion. Mrs. Tijerina treated every student with respect, and expected that she
would be respected as well. If a student was talking out of hand, Mrs. Tijerina was capable to getting them to stop immediately. Since she has a strong
desire for the students to excel, she predominantly speaks in

Examples Of Classroom Observation
I conducted my observation on November 3, 2017. I observed a fourth–grade language arts class taught by Robin Smith. Mrs. Smith exudes a love of
reading and knowledge from the very moment you meet her. Mrs. Smith's classroom is a warm, accessible, print rich environment complete with
anchor charts, a word wall, and alphabet chart. Mrs. Smith and her classroom environment inspire each one of her students to find a passion for reading
and learning. Mrs. Smith demonstrates an understanding of the social–emotional environment, and its importance to the success of a child's learning
experience. Although the social–emotional environment is much harder to grasp and see it is just as important as the physical environment. Mrs.
Smith's approach for classroom management demonstrates how a positive social–emotional environment can lead to an effectively well managed
classroom.
At the start of each day, Mrs. Smith enthusiastically greets her students, and the class begins their morning routine. Each student starts with reading
their library book for a few minutes. After all the students and Mrs. Smith has settled in the classroom they go over news of the day, and they read the
word wall. This process is a daily routine for the students, and it gets each student focused, and ready to learn. The students in Mrs. Smith class rotate
between three other teachers, so the morning routine is fast but effective. Mrs. Smith is always ready to take advantage of teachable moments, and be

Each classroom observation I have completed has led to a more productive learning experience, and I have been able to view teaching theories and
strategy first hand. Through my classroom field experience I have had several opportunities to help with different classroom activities such as work
with small groups of students, clarifying concepts for individual students, and aiding students with technology. I observed three different classrooms a
3rd and 4th grade class at a private school, a 6th grade science class at a public school, and a 6th grade math class at a public school. Although each of
these classrooms is unique, they are all complex enterprises, with a very large number of interacting variables at play.

graders, the 4th graders are completing unfinished work from the day before. Once she has explicitly taught the new concept, guided the 3rd graders
through whole class practice, she introduces their independent practice, and then moves over to begin the teaching cycle with the 4th grades. As Mrs.
Richards worked with the 4th grades, I was given the opportunity to assist the 3rd graders with any support they might need to successfully finish their
independent math work. If any 3rd grade student finished their math work before Mrs. Richards was done with the 4th grade they move over to the
computer center, where they worked with the Lexia program. This rotation between grade levels continued throughout the day, except when it came to
science where both grade levels worked on the same lesson. Although Mrs. Richards' class has a unique dynamic she still utilizes common teaching
strategies such as gradually releasing responsibility on to each student, allowing the students to communicate and support each other during math, using
hands on experiences during math and science, and employing the use of manipulatives to help the students understand new math concepts.

I am approaching the end of my first semester at ECU and it has flown by. As I think back on my observations, both online and in class, I feel as
though I have learned quite a bit. I have gain useful knowledge about teaching and how to do an observation protocols. Now that I have acquired
some of the skills needed to teach, I just need to make sure I apply it. My teaching journey at ECU is far from over, but I have left the starting line and
I am moving forward. I have really enjoyed the online classroom observations this semester. I work everyday with some great teachers at SSE School,
as a teacher assistant, but it is very helpful to see other teachers run their classrooms as well. One thing that caught my attention observing online and
in the classroom, was that most teacher start with pulling the students in. They pull them in by welcoming them to the carpet or introducing a concept
and talking about it. The students began to ask questions through this opening exercise and it is a wonderful way to get them involved and excited
about learning. Another must, is to be prepared! You need to know what you are teaching and have all your supplies ready, whether it is scissors, glue,
worksheets, or the smart board up. You will lose the students attention if it is taking too long to get things ready. In my classroom observations it was
with a third–grade class and the teacher was very prepared for her lesson. One thing I really liked that she did was, she did not have to raise

Observation Reflection
As I walked into the classroom for my first day of observations, I was greeted with a warm "Hello!" In fact, each time that I entered a new classroom
I was given the same greeting. All of the teachers were more than happy to be helping a future educator by letting me observe their teaching styles and
learn new techniques to use.
Through spending time in various classrooms, I have gained valuable information that I will take with me into student teaching and my future
classroom.
Many of the things that we have talked about in class were illustrated for me in the classrooms that I visited. The most prominent of them was the use of
word walls.

For one reading aloud lesson, the teacher used the "popcorn reading" strategy. She did most of the reading, but every once in a while she picked
one of the students to take over. I think that this was a great way to handle the book that they were reading because there was some difficult
vocabulary in the section that they read that day. This style helped me to realize that even though they are in 4 th grade, the students do not have
to be responsible for all of the reading all of the time. It is a good thing to give them a break every so often and just let them enjoy the story
through following along. However, I did like that she would stop about every other paragraph and ask questions about tough vocabulary and what
was happening in the story. This is a great way to make sure that the students were really following along and not staring at the floor or off into space.
She also was able to insert a minilesson review on using context clues to figure out the meaning of an unknown word. Since she knew which students
would be comfortable reading the material in front of the whole class and which would not, the teacher was able to choose the confident readers to do
the reading aloud and have the others answer the questions.
With buddy reading, I think that it is a great way for a strong reader to help a struggling reader. As a class read their material in pairs, I heard one little
girl encourage her partner who was struggling with some of the

Observation Of Observing A Class
Choosing a scene: I chose to observe a class for my scene. The class I observed was Professor Ingram's 3920 "Interviewing" class. The reason I chose
this as my scene was because with it being a classroom setting I assumed there would be more than enough human activity. Also, I have had professor
Ingram for a class before so I know her style of teaching is very conversational involves a lot of class participation.
The Scene: The general class is made up of 19 students. The diversity of the class in terms of sex is 8 males and 12 females. Other forms of diversity
such as race showed that there were 3 people who were African American and 17 Caucasians in the classroom. I set myself up off the side of the

Over the course of the entire class this student would look at his phone a total of 6 times. When class was about to end in the last 10 minutes this
student would double his cell phone use from 3 to 6 times. A few other students looked at their phones briefly in class however all of them put
them away immediately. Final Analysis:One thing I noticed about both students who did text was that they both had the same strategy of hiding
their phone from the professor. The strategy in question was to hide the phone in between their legs. This reminds me of previous classes with
professor Scott Walus who has openly said how cell phones can become an addiction. Based on the behavior from these two students along with
other classmates it appears that this may in fact be true. A lot of the behaviors exhibited are signs of needing or wanting whatever it is that you are
addicted to. One other thing I noticed is how distracting cell phone use is at least from an observer's perspective. Whenever I saw a screen or cell
phone I would immediately divert my eyes toward this cell phone. Overall, if my attention as an observer is affected so easily by a cell phone being in
a room I wonder how much it truly effects the class as a

The first day I came to the class, I was a little spectacle about how I was going to interact with the class. The first thing I notice when I walked in the

Class observation report
Introduction
In this study, I choose to observe a primary 5 class in NT District. The lesson that aims to improve the confidence level of the students is made up of
students who are weak in English. There are 30 students in the class, 17 boys and 13 girls. The gender ratio reduces biasness and made the class an
ideal class to study. In the following paragraphs, I will explain how the class was conducted and the teaching methodologies of the teacher.
Procedure

aims to build students' confidence in speaking. While...show more content...

the students would be awarded three points if the student was able to make a sentence with the phrase and read the phrase out very loudly. However,
the teacher did not shut down the computer after introducing the rules and the students could still view the sentence patterns on the screen. Although
the medium of the communication for the class was English, the teacher used Cantonese several times in order to discipline the students.
Students were highly motivated at the beginning of the game; many of them volunteered to go first. However, the teacher chose students based on their
seating location and every child had an equal opportunity of playing the game. The performance of students varied with their English proficiency. Some
of them had difficulty in recognizing words like "waffle" and "blackcurrant"; and some of them failed to articulate clearly which was due to their
unfamiliarity of sentence pattern. These students seemed to pay

Observations for Jose took place on his science and math classrooms respectively. At the beginning of the class, the teacher asked a question to the
group, Jose raised his hand to answer. He remained quiet on his desk while teacher explained the lesson in detail to the whole class. During the
rest of the class, he remained seated on his desk and participated in the discussion at the proper time. The teacher showed a video to the class and
asked some questions, most of the class tried to answer them, but Jose didn't seem interested as he was with his head down on his arms. Next Day
during the math period, students were working in small groups. Jose actively participated in the class discussion. He reviewed his paperwork with his
peers and asked a few questions to the teacher's assistant. Jose followed the teacher commands until the class finished. During the interview process,
Jose mentioned that his favorite subjects were reading and science, conversely the subject that gives him most trouble is English because kids in the
class laugh at him. Jose thinks that learning is natural for him and he can complete assigned works but doesn't feel being as smart as the other
students. When with his friends, he likes to hang out, play games and soccer. About his other classmates, he stated not getting along with them because
they are always pushing or tickling him. Jose reported having no problems with the teachers or at school in general. On weekends, he usually enjoys of

How To Write A Class Observation

  • 1. How To Write A Class Observation My own class observation was for my 1st grade class. The art specialist was Benjamin Bragonier and lasted for one hour and thirty minutes. He was teaching the art lesson drawing with shapes (circles). The kids were instructed to make circles by just cutting corners only. They were also instructed to make circles by using black tip marker and going around and around until they got a good circle. The circles were matted onto tag board and circular designs were place into the bigger circles made by the students. The way that Mr. Bragonier showed the students the steps to the art lesson were truly impressive. He would give the students the direction for the first portion of the lesson at the carpet area and have them go back to their seats and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 3. My Observation At A Elementary Classroom During my observation time in a kindergarten classroom, I have noticed that the students have a wide variety of abilities, attention spans, interests, and love for learning. When it comes to the teacher's instructional strategies, she intentionally takes into consideration all of the above characteristics to make sure each student gets what they need to be most successful. During lessons students are engaged because of the teacher's ability to implement interests of the student's into things and giving them options. If an error occurs during a lesson, the teacher normally, allows for the student who got something wrong to try again, or to call on a friend to help them out. This way the students are still giving the answers and not the teacher just telling them the information. The teacher chooses a lot of small group instruction and centers where she can work with a small group, but then, easily monitor all the other groups to make sure they are on task and doing their work. The classroom is organized so that the student's stuff and the teacher's stuff should not cross paths. The students keep their materials in their cubbies at one end of the room, their pencil boxes at their seats, and their book boxes on the floor. The teacher's stuff is located on her desk, and the back table where small group stuff gets done. The classroom setting is definitely positive and interesting because it has a minion theme. Children in that age range love minions most of the time and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. English Classroom Observation Report This section of the project is divided in three areas: пЃ¶General considerations: I have drawn my empirical data from the observations carried out in a Kindergarten I have been observing since March. Regarding the English teacher, she has utter freedom in what and how to teach. Nevertheless, she tries to plan the lessons with the main teacher to try to present the learners similar vocabulary in Spanish and in English. The aim of the institution is that students can approach to English in a friendly and positive atmosphere. Regarding the group I have been observing, it is integrated by 12 learners, aged 3 and 4 years old. пЃ¶Classroom features:...show more content... Closing the lesson with a greeting is also recommendable "goodbye students" "have a nice week" and before we even notice they have incorporated these expressions into their lessons vocabulary. The teacherВґs rationale for doing so is that repetition and recalling vocabulary is the best way to reaffirm what they have learnt so far. Use of visual materials. The classroom is full of billboards, flash cards, big images, cardboards which from what I observed are suitable to teach vocabulary. They enjoy visual activities such as pointing things in a cardboard, etc. Watching videos in English. As observed, they are keen on this activity. At the end of every class they were shown a video about the vocabulary presented in the lesson. Videos often include songs, personally I think it is a good combination between visual and audio materials. I organized the information I gathered in the observations in a personal Portfolio, where I keep my notes of every lesson, a summary of the lesson plan, useful tips and recommendations of the teacher and a copy of the activities presented by her. 530 words Comparison and contrast of theory and observation. By comparing the observation and the theoretical background, I found out that most of the literature written about this topic seems to be right in practice. • 5. Classroom Observation Properly conducted classroom observation is a powerful tool in the continuing professional development of teachers. The revised performance management arrangement for teachers, which came into force on 1 September, 2007, clearly set the expectation that classroom observations are to be developmental in nature and multi–purpose in usage. The Education ( School Teacher Performance Management) Regulations 2006 state that the total period of classroom observation allowed per performance management cycle should not exceed three hours and, in many cases, will be less, depending on individual circumstances. The performance management regulations require that classroom observation, and the performance management cycle, should...show more content... Classroom Research and Second Language Development:– The success of a course of language studies in a classroomis judged in terms of the product, that is, the learners' terminal proficiency. To do this a number of tests and examinations are available which measure that proficiency. However, the examinations themselves can never inform us of the role that classroom work played in the scores obtained. In the classroom interaction occurs interactionn between teachers, learners and materials. This is the essential element of the classroom. An important step in the classroom is the image that the observer presents. Sometimes, no doubt, observers are perceived, as Rosen vividly puts it, as ' sinister figures in the wings, faintly contemptuous, armed with the paraphernalia of expertise and tapping ominously their research findings.' Such an image would be totally incompatible with ethnographic research which crucially depends on a relationship of trust. If the classroom ethnographer is regarded as an evaluator or inspector, the entire enterprise becomes impossible. This is of central importance to Classroom Research. Neutrality in Classroom Research means studying the interaction as it occurs in the context, from the perspective of those that are being studied. This can be done through participant observation or non–participant Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Summarize your fifth visit to the school: pupils you interacted with, activities you participated in, interactions between you and the students and among the students, materials used, curricular areas addressed, specially–designed instruction and impacts of the pupils' disability on their learning /performance. Students A, B, E and F from previous were present for my final observation in the classroom, the other students were not present because they were either recovering from an illness or surgery. I was told that on most Mondays, the kids tend to be less willing to pay attention in class and work on task. For the most part this was the case, Student A was cooperative and friendly for the first hour of the observation, but became...show more content... The next activity was reading and a test of memory at the end in the form of a worksheet where the students glued pictures in appropriate boxes according to the story. After this, we spent the end of the day doing the classroom jobs with the students: recycling, backpack check, etc. 2. Provide an overall summary of the students and the activities you observed and participated in for the five different visits. Note any new experiences you had, specific concepts you learned about in class applied in the classroom, and your overall opinion on the special education environment and support provided to students with special needs. I have never experienced a classroom quite like the one I was placed at this semester. The Children's Institute, a hospital and day school combined in one building is an amazing organization. They provide comprehensive support and a positive learning environment for kids that really need it the most. The teachers and aides are all very friendly and patient, and the nurses are on call to help out if a student needs assistance. The environment in the classrooms was always very positive and supportive. I noticed that the teacher and aides were always encouraging the students to be independent in little ways. • 7. Essay On Classroom Observation Observing in classrooms provide future teachers many opportunities to gain valuable experience in a real classroom. I completed my observation hours at two schools, Sandlick Elementary and L.F. Addington Middle school. All the teachers I observed were very nice and helped me in any way they could. Because I observed at two schools I was able to see the difference in the approach and learning of material from elementary to middle school. I have gained valuable information from observing, which will enable me to teach my future students proficiently and effectively. While observing at Sandlick Elementary school I was placed with Mrs. Robin Belcher in the third grade. I observed Mrs. Belcher's classroom at a critical time, as they were preparing to take the Benchmark test. I observed Mrs. Belcher for three consecutive days two of which were spent reviewing for the upcoming test. Mrs. Belcher used worksheets to review previously covered material. While observing the third grade classroom, I was able to provide one on one help for some students. Mrs. Belcher had three to five students in her classroom who had implemented Individualized Education Plans. Mrs. Belcher primarily allowed me to work with her special needs students. I worked with one student in particular on understanding the meaning of the vocabulary words that were covered. To help the student, I read all the definitions to her and then asked her to tell me each word's meaning. I also sat with one student while she Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Being a teacher seemed to be the easiest career choice out there for me. After viewing the students of all ages and levels, I have changed my opinion of teaching. There is an unknown side to the world that can only be seen when inside a classroom. Watching the students have made me realize that being a teacher will carry some difficulties. Observing has made me realize that there is more to teaching, the classroom, and what goes on inside. Over the five...show more content... The teachers made the room feel welcoming to the students. In the intermediate school, the classrooms had only a minor difference from the elementary. The teacher had her classroom set up in groups and also had the safe feeling to it. The only difference was that both teachers I observed had different college information placed in their rooms. Both teachers had college posters and memorabilia around the room. I felt that the teachers were sending a positive message about furthering her student's information. In the middle school however, students sat two to a table. The room felt bland without having any posters or decorations of any kind. The room did not have the warm inviting feeling to it as did the elementary and intermediate schools. In high school, the room had the same uninviting feeling to it. The students in the classroom sat at a desk all to themselves. They were placed in rows making it hard for any talking to occur. The room had no posters and no decorations of any sort. As the ages of the students grew, I noticed the rooms changed with them. While in elementary school, teachers made their rooms inviting. Teachers wanted to get their students to feel welcome. However in high school, students did not have the same Get more content on HelpWriting.net

They had a variety of different traits and displayed skills to provide information of their development. Each of these children was at different stage of their development. I also visited a special needs classroom. They had a variety of traits that showed their development as well. They differ from the other students I observed. These observations were just a few of the many students in the classroom. Each of them had displayed a variety of traits but I choose these four to provide examples of development in early children in the school setting. Many excelled socially, but others had trouble. Many were showing great physical development, but many didn't. All children develop at different speeds. But these are just a few examples I observed. • 10. Classroom Observation 1. What grade level are you observing? So far I have observed an ESL kindergarten class at Willbern Elementary. 2. What is the school environment like? (Positive/negative?) Describe how the children interact with each other and to adults. The school environment was very positive. The children interacted with each other in a positive manner, playing with each other and having very little issues. When they did have issues, they weren't afraid to go to the teacher and let her know what was going on. I didn't notice any major issues when the kids were playing, and instead I noticed the kids trying to help each other out when they needed assistance and being very supportive of each other. During recess I noticed that the children went to whatever teacher was closest to them if they had issues, instead of just seeking out their specific teacher. This indicates to me that the environment is incredibly positive if the students are comfortable with all the teachers and are free to report any problems they have. 3. What does the teacher do that you like? Do not like? I liked how the teacher handled discipline. She would get the rest of the class busy on an activity before going to a problem student and talking with them. She would resolve the issue quickly and quietly, so none of the other students would know and the student in trouble wouldn't be embarrassed. I also liked how she handled technology issues. There were 4 computers in the classroom that the students would take turns Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Reflection On The Classroom Observation Classroom Observations Introduction I chose to observe Mrs. Tijerina for my classroom observation. There are many reasons why I decided to observe Mrs. Tijerina. I elected to observe Mrs. Tijerina so I could see another teacher's perspective on teaching Spanish, as she and Mrs. Fiechter are the only Spanish teachers in the school. Furthermore, I never had Mrs. Tijerina for Spanish 2, as the teacher I had left Adams Central. Additionally within the hour I was observing, there were many sophomore students that I knew personally so I was able to ask them on their options of the class. Finally, Mrs. Tijerina's goal was to teach in a similar way to Mrs. Fiechter's teaching, and by observing her I was able to compare and contrast the two...show more content... The atmosphere of the room is energetic and radiant as you can help but feel warm inside. Mrs. Tijerina developed the room to encourage learning while maintain a fun and exciting aura. Students enjoy the layout of the room and find that the layout of the furniture and objects benefit them while learning. Observations (put student/teacher relationship here???) Mrs. Tijerina has a sturdy relationship built with her students. She has desire to see them succeed and flourish in the Spanish culture while mining high expectations. Mrs. Tijerina wants every single student to be involved or to give feedback. There was not a single student in the classroom that did not participate in discussion or did not have a chance to voice their opinion. Mrs. Tijerina treated every student with respect, and expected that she would be respected as well. If a student was talking out of hand, Mrs. Tijerina was capable to getting them to stop immediately. • 12. Examples Of Classroom Observation I conducted my observation on November 3, 2017. I observed a fourth–grade language arts class taught by Robin Smith. Mrs. Smith exudes a love of reading and knowledge from the very moment you meet her. Mrs. Smith's classroom is a warm, accessible, print rich environment complete with anchor charts, a word wall, and alphabet chart. Mrs. Smith and her classroom environment inspire each one of her students to find a passion for reading and learning. Mrs. Smith demonstrates an understanding of the social–emotional environment, and its importance to the success of a child's learning experience. Although the social–emotional environment is much harder to grasp and see it is just as important as the physical environment. Mrs. Smith's approach for classroom management demonstrates how a positive social–emotional environment can lead to an effectively well managed classroom. At the start of each day, Mrs. Smith enthusiastically greets her students, and the class begins their morning routine. Each student starts with reading their library book for a few minutes. After all the students and Mrs. Smith has settled in the classroom they go over news of the day, and they read the word wall. This process is a daily routine for the students, and it gets each student focused, and ready to learn. The students in Mrs. Smith class rotate between three other teachers, so the morning routine is fast but effective. Examples Of Classroom Observation Each classroom observation I have completed has led to a more productive learning experience, and I have been able to view teaching theories and strategy first hand. Through my classroom field experience I have had several opportunities to help with different classroom activities such as work with small groups of students, clarifying concepts for individual students, and aiding students with technology. I observed three different classrooms a 3rd and 4th grade class at a private school, a 6th grade science class at a public school, and a 6th grade math class at a public school. Although each of these classrooms is unique, they are all complex enterprises, with a very large number of interacting variables at play. The first class I...show more content... While Mrs. Richards explicitly teaches new concepts to the 3rd graders, the 4th graders are completing unfinished work from the day before. Once she has explicitly taught the new concept, guided the 3rd graders through whole class practice, she introduces their independent practice, and then moves over to begin the teaching cycle with the 4th grades. As Mrs. Richards worked with the 4th grades, I was given the opportunity to assist the 3rd graders with any support they might need to successfully finish their independent math work. If any 3rd grade student finished their math work before Mrs. Richards was done with the 4th grade they move over to the computer center, where they worked with the Lexia program. This rotation between grade levels continued throughout the day, except when it came to science where both grade levels worked on the same lesson. Although Mrs. Richards' class has a unique dynamic she still utilizes common teaching strategies such as gradually releasing responsibility on to each student, allowing the students to communicate and support each other during math, using hands on experiences during math and science, and employing the use of manipulatives to help the students understand new math concepts. • 14. Classroom Observation Essay I am approaching the end of my first semester at ECU and it has flown by. As I think back on my observations, both online and in class, I feel as though I have learned quite a bit. I have gain useful knowledge about teaching and how to do an observation protocols. Now that I have acquired some of the skills needed to teach, I just need to make sure I apply it. My teaching journey at ECU is far from over, but I have left the starting line and I am moving forward. I have really enjoyed the online classroom observations this semester. I work everyday with some great teachers at SSE School, as a teacher assistant, but it is very helpful to see other teachers run their classrooms as well. One thing that caught my attention observing online and in the classroom, was that most teacher start with pulling the students in. They pull them in by welcoming them to the carpet or introducing a concept and talking about it. The students began to ask questions through this opening exercise and it is a wonderful way to get them involved and excited about learning. Another must, is to be prepared! You need to know what you are teaching and have all your supplies ready, whether it is scissors, glue, worksheets, or the smart board up. You will lose the students attention if it is taking too long to get things ready. In my classroom observations it was with a third–grade class and the teacher was very prepared for her lesson. Reflective Essay on Classroom Observation Danielle Moeller Professor Schilling Lit Block 4–22–07 Observation Reflection As I walked into the classroom for my first day of observations, I was greeted with a warm "Hello!" In fact, each time that I entered a new classroom I was given the same greeting. All of the teachers were more than happy to be helping a future educator by letting me observe their teaching styles and learn new techniques to use. Through spending time in various classrooms, I have gained valuable information that I will take with me into student teaching and my future classroom. Many of the things that we have talked about in class were illustrated for me in the classrooms that I visited. The most prominent of them was the use of word walls. She did most of the reading, but every once in a while she picked one of the students to take over. I think that this was a great way to handle the book that they were reading because there was some difficult vocabulary in the section that they read that day. This style helped me to realize that even though they are in 4 th grade, the students do not have to be responsible for all of the reading all of the time. It is a good thing to give them a break every so often and just let them enjoy the story through following along. However, I did like that she would stop about every other paragraph and ask questions about tough vocabulary and what was happening in the story. This is a great way to make sure that the students were really following along and not staring at the floor or off into space. She also was able to insert a minilesson review on using context clues to figure out the meaning of an unknown word. Since she knew which students would be comfortable reading the material in front of the whole class and which would not, the teacher was able to choose the confident readers to do the reading aloud and have the others answer the questions. With buddy reading, I think that it is a great way for a strong reader to help a struggling reader. As a class read their material in pairs, I heard one little girl encourage her partner who was struggling with some of the

Final Analysis:One thing I noticed about both students who did text was that they both had the same strategy of hiding their phone from the professor. The strategy in question was to hide the phone in between their legs. This reminds me of previous classes with professor Scott Walus who has openly said how cell phones can become an addiction. Based on the behavior from these two students along with other classmates it appears that this may in fact be true. A lot of the behaviors exhibited are signs of needing or wanting whatever it is that you are addicted to. One other thing I noticed is how distracting cell phone use is at least from an observer's perspective. Whenever I saw a screen or cell phone I would immediately divert my eyes toward this cell phone. Overall, if my attention as an observer is affected so easily by a cell phone being in a room I wonder how much it truly effects the class as a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Class Observation Paper I got excited because I knew he would let me be there and learn about the class and do my observations. After learning the background of the place I had chosen to study I felt much more comfortable. At first I did not understand how I was going to be "comfortable" in the room, with people I was going to be scared of, for a while. The first day I came to the class, I was a little spectacle about how I was going to interact with the class. The first thing I notice when I walked in the conference room was it felt very bright and cozy, don't get me wrong; the colors on the wall are very beautiful. I wasn't really sure what I wanted to stare at. The fake flowers, people and chairs were all in perfect places making, a medium sized Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Essay about Class Observation Class observation Class observation report Introduction In this study, I choose to observe a primary 5 class in NT District. The lesson that aims to improve the confidence level of the students is made up of students who are weak in English. There are 30 students in the class, 17 boys and 13 girls. The gender ratio reduces biasness and made the class an ideal class to study. In the following paragraphs, I will explain how the class was conducted and the teaching methodologies of the teacher. Procedure 1. Pre–observation meeting Before the lesson, I had a meeting with the teacher. We first discussed the contents and objectives of the lesson. The lesson is a speaking class which aims to build students' confidence in speaking. While...show more content... She explained the rules explicitly that every group would send a student to the stage; he or she could choose a flash card which picture side faced to other classmates then made a sentence. The mark varied from one to three based on their performance. One mark was given to student who can only point out the object. The student would be awarded two marks if he could make a sentence with the phrase or read the phrase out very loudly. Finally, the students would be awarded three points if the student was able to make a sentence with the phrase and read the phrase out very loudly. However, the teacher did not shut down the computer after introducing the rules and the students could still view the sentence patterns on the screen. Although the medium of the communication for the class was English, the teacher used Cantonese several times in order to discipline the students. Students were highly motivated at the beginning of the game; many of them volunteered to go first. However, the teacher chose students based on their seating location and every child had an equal opportunity of playing the game. The performance of students varied with their English proficiency. Some of them had difficulty in recognizing words like "waffle" and "blackcurrant"; and some of them failed to articulate clearly which was due to their unfamiliarity of sentence pattern. These students seemed to pay Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Observation In The Math Classroom Observations for Jose took place on his science and math classrooms respectively. At the beginning of the class, the teacher asked a question to the group, Jose raised his hand to answer. He remained quiet on his desk while teacher explained the lesson in detail to the whole class. During the rest of the class, he remained seated on his desk and participated in the discussion at the proper time. The teacher showed a video to the class and asked some questions, most of the class tried to answer them, but Jose didn't seem interested as he was with his head down on his arms. Next Day during the math period, students were working in small groups. Jose actively participated in the class discussion. He reviewed his paperwork with his peers and asked a few questions to the teacher's assistant. Jose followed the teacher commands until the class finished. During the interview process, Jose mentioned that his favorite subjects were reading and science, conversely the subject that gives him most trouble is English because kids in the class laugh at him. Jose thinks that learning is natural for him and he can complete assigned works but doesn't feel being as smart as the other students. When with his friends, he likes to hang out, play games and soccer. About his other classmates, he stated not getting along with them because they are always pushing or tickling him. Jose reported having no problems with the teachers or at school in general. On weekends, he usually enjoys of playing with Get more content on HelpWriting.net
