Reflection About Music
Globally, music is the soundtrack of everyone in the whole world. From older generations to younger generations, music is the universal identity that
every individual has something in common. It would be impossible to imagine a world without music, regardless of our culture, personal
interpretations or even our own aesthetics, and tastes. As for me, music is one of the few things that have remained constant in my entire life because
music has the power to inspire me mentally, physically and emotionally. Music can easily influence my emotions of sadness, happiness, heartaches, and
miseries, including my physical moodiness. Actually, taking this class, Music 15–A, allows me to explore these emotions, to think critically, and to be
able to apply my knowledge and understanding accordingly. Generally, there were numerous ways how a song can be interpreted; it can either be
construed negatively or positively. In order to explore my knowledge and understanding to a certain song or genre, I had to think critically and
objectively. For example, the Bawdy Blues genre or Lucille Bogan "aka" Bessie Jackson's song "Shave 'Em Dry" (1935) that exploited innuendo
lyrics. Her song was banned to the general public viewers, whereas in the late 80's, explicit librettos were openly out on the market. During my
younger years, a hip–hop/rap song entitled "Me So Horny" (1989) by "2 Live Crew" was a hit maker. Both of these songs were very controversial;
however, one of the songs was extensively

Name: Jordynn Lim (789469) Music is a very important part of a culture, it is a form of representation and a way of communication. Every culture
has their own signature genre and twists in their music style. Here in Melbourne, I travel to Bourke street a busy district thriving with what I
believe to be passionate musicians to observe the variety of music Melbourne has in display. Audience When I alighted the tram, there was a man
standing near the stop, singing. The street was partially crowded, people mill about the area, walking past the singer and staring curiously before
heading to the shopping malls. Strangers sit on the stairs in front of the singer typing on their phone, perhaps they hang around the area to listen
to the man sing. Younger adults gawk with their mouth slightly open and eyes wide as they pointed at the man albeit excitedly, perhaps it is their
first time seeing a musician out in the open, personally it is a rare sight for me. A few crept closer to the performer before whipping their phone
out and aiming the lens at him, it looks like they're trying to record him, the moment they put their phone down, they walk away. There is a guitar
case in front of him with a cardboard sign that says, Lucky Moore. On the very left side of the case is a set of CDs there's a smaller cardboard that
says DEMO CDS $10. No one approached him during his performance and hardly anyone gave donations until his song ended, then people of
varying ages donated and bought CDs off him. There is a sense of respect, to not interrupt a performance despite being in the street. Handmade Moore
has a strange instrument around his neck, a small round cylindrical microphone attached to a piece of metal, one end suspends the cylindrical device
just in front of the man's chin, and the other end is attached to a thick collar around his neck. Whenever he ducks his head to put his lips to it, the
sound of a harmonica resonates through the speaker on the man's right side. The man holds a guitar, a microphone attached to a stand in front of him
and the collared instrument. He raises his right heel, toes still on the ground and slams on a lever attached to a greyish brown box behind him with a
tambourine. Whenever he steps on the

Music is all around us, yet many of us do not understand it. A simple man with an office job that you pick randomly off the street could most likely
tell you the basic rules of American Football, and yet that same man could have never played football in his life before. If you asked that same guy the
basics of the music he is listening to, I bet you would get a blank stare back. My argument relates directly to schools so many people can reason football
is not technically taught in school, but what about subjects like Biology or the countless other school subjects that a student learns, but never truly
needs to utilize later? What makes those subjects any different from music? Maybe even a better question, what makes music different from...show

Several studies have supported the claim that musical training aids students in many other areas of schooling and life. The College Entrance
Examination Board found that "students involved in public school music programs scored 107 points higher on the SAT's than students with no
participation (Music for All)." Many people can say these claims are merely corollary due to the fact that children that are considered smarter will
pursue music anyways. This claim cannot truly be supported, but sadly also cannot be disproven. However, research has also been conducted that
explicitly says that "early music training dramatically enhancing children's abstract reasoning skills. These findings indicate that music uniquely
enhances higher brain functions required for mathematics, chess, science and engineering (Music For All)." This study was conducted by professors
Gordon Shaw and Frances Rauscher at the University of California. This conclusion makes sense as no other class make students use their brains in a
way a music course does. Music training combines math, language, and problem–solving skills together into one idea. Musical notation is based on a
system of ratios and fractions that require a student to have basic mathematical knowledge and also the ability to apply it. For example, the lengths of
notes are divided into fraction values. The largest note value is called a whole note, then a quarter note, eighth note, and so on and so

Music : Music And Music
The definition of music is very different to many people. Some say that music is the arrangement of sound and silence. Others like myself say music is
that and much more. Music is an aural form of art that is used to express emotion and touch the hearts of the listener through the use of phrasing,
dynamics, style and tone color. Music is a very universal art form. There are not many people in this world who do not listen to at least some form of
music weather it be pop or rock music on the radio, or the classical music of Beethoven or Mozart. Each genre and style is very unique in it's own
way and some styles are more appealing to one person than another. That is why it is very important to expand the types of music taught in
educational music programs. There are quite a few different types of music that fit into the instrumental category. We have Jazz, avant grade music,
ethnic music, and "art music". Jazz and art music are the two most commonly taught forms of music in public schools today. Although these are two
very important forms of music, I feel as though schools should be able to expand the genres. Not only will this widen student's scopes to learning new
styles and performance techniques, this will also peak the interest of students who previously felt 'bored' with the music being taught. Avant grade
music is typically a newer style of music, it often branches away from traditional methods and forms of writing music. This can pose a new challenge
for students,

Modern Music Essay
Music has been around for thousands and thousands of years. The caveman had originally started some type of sounds in which branched off into the
music that we listen to today. This prehistoric music was started by the cavemen in order for them to express themselves, and the others who listened
were affected in the same way that people are affected by music today.
For example, if someone is upset they will listen to something that will get them into a better mood, perhaps something mellow or soft. If they are
happy, they will listen to something that is more energetic, and so on. After I interviewed four people––friends and family––I found out what type of
music they listened to when they are upset, angry, or calm. Music touches people's...show more content...
I asked Kyle's roommate, Tim what type music he listens to when he is in certain moods. He said, "Sometimes when I am homesick I listen to Frank
Sinatra because my mother and father listen to it all the time, so it reminds me of them." He is also a big rap fan, but not as much as Kyle. Tim can
listen to anything at any time, for instance, he could listen to Notorious BIG one minute then listen to Marilyn Manson the next. He continues, "If I
have the urge to get pumped up then I need something that is crazy and wild to get me in that mood, like White Zombie or some sort of heavy music."
There have also been lawsuits involved with such heavy metal like Marilyn Manson, Ozzy Osbourne, Slayer, and Judas Priest. Marilyn Manson's music
had been to blame for the suicide of 13 year–old boy from California. Another family from California sued the band Slayer because their lyrics
inspired three teenage boys to rape and murder their daughter. Ozzy Osbourne and Judas Priest had lawsuits filed against them claiming their lyrics
drove teens to attempt suicide in the late 80's, but the cases were won by the artists

(Demean). Once again people or teenagers took the music too seriously, and they ended making stupid mistakes by doing so.
These teenagers are allowed to listen to such music at an early age when they look up to certain entertainers like––Marilyn

Descriptive Essay On Music
The piano is one of my favorite musical instruments. It is a great instrument because of how easy it is to pick up on it. Unlike other instruments
like the violin and guitar, you always know what you are going to get when you attempt to play a note. It also sounds amazing and it is very
relaxing to the ear. Pianos are played in many styles but the two most popular styles would probably be classical and jazz. Jazz styled music is most
focused on improvisation while classically styled music requires you to master many skills from the keyboard. Classical is known to be the hardest
style to learn. I tried to play a few classical pieces on my piano but each hand is playing completely different notes at different times and it's hard
because the notes are played so fast. If you accidentally play a wrong note, it doesn't sound right. My favorite genres of the piano are classical and
light jazz. There are many singer–songwriters who play piano that inspire me to play. The sound of the piano is very unique and I like how you can
combine many keys to make cool melodies. The piano has evolved over the years from the harpsichord to the grand piano to digital keyboards. In 1700,
the piano was born thanks to Bartolomeo di Francesco Cristofori. The piano is a fascinating instrument that has changed over time and continues to be
an important instrument in the music industry.

Music And Dance And Music Essay
There is no denying that when decent music is playing people cannot help but get in the dancing mood. Studies show that people, even when still in
the womb, react to music. This reaction just grows and grows as a person develops... "children between 1 and 2 years of age were made to listen to
Credence Clearwater Revival's "Heard it Through the Grapevine" [and] within a minute of listening to the insistent drums and guitar riffs, the babies
started to move in synchronicity with the song (Brenshofl, Roger para. 2). Even though these small children were not able to keep their moves up for
long before falling, it sure did not stop them from trying! It is obvious that music and dance are related on a very high level, but what makes these two
arts so complimentary of one another? When dance and music are done together there is an emotional response on the deep and superficial level in
humans that builds through the practice and evolution of dance and music respectively.
To begin to understand the relationship between music and dance, one must understand what they are individually. Dance is a well known form of
art that allows one to express personal beliefs, ideas, or just strictly emotions through the movement of their body. This can be done in may ways
because there are many forms of dance. From explosive jazz, to emotional lyrical, and informative pedestrian, all dance styles seem to have a way of
conveying an idea to an audience. As one may expect, music is very similar in

Music
Music; Indefinable by words alone. It is not only something you can hear but what you can feel. It is something your soul is able to reach out and
touch. Music also has the power to bring us as humans, together. It is one language spoken by all cultures, sexes, races, age and religions. Music also
controls our emotions; it makes us happy, sad, angry, relaxed, etc. We also can express ourselves through music. It can affect our personality..

This can be overwhelming to the listener. Knowing when and how much to utilize silence is part of listening, one of the key skills of any musician.

Music is respect. Respect to ones self and to others, whether it is someone that has the same taste in music as you, or someone that has the complete
opposite taste as you. That's something I see happen way to much, people bashing on other people because of what they listen to. Instead of accepting
that everyone isn't going to like what you like. Music is supposed to be something we all have in common, it's supposed to bring us together and create
peace, not turn us against each other. It's something that we all do, including me at times. Not only in music but in everyday life.
Music originates from all over the world since the beginning of time. Complex or simple, fast or slow, loud or soft. It's what you feel. It could be your
method of escape or keeping you living. Music is love. Music is passion. Music is unity. Music is emotion. Music is belief. Music is beauty. Music is
life. Music is perfection. Music is imperfection. Music is peace. "Through music we can live forever."

Informative Speech On Music Therapy
Have you ever been in a certain situation, and you just did not know what to do? And it felt as if music solved your problem or helped you out?
Well, you probably had your own music therapy session. This topic is relevant because people use music on a daily basis to help with frustration,
depression, etc. and it just might be an alternative for illnesses and the addiction recovery process. I am a credible resource because I have done
extensive research on this topic. I believe music therapy helps with drug addiction, illness, and depression and can replace medicine that people take
for illnesses and also be better than the process people go through with addiction recovery. I am now going to give you the background on music
therapy and hopefully persuade some of you that music therapy actually does help and can replace medicine for the greater good.
First of all, what is music therapy and how can it help with drug addiction people may ask. Well, according to wikipedia, music therapy is, (and I
quote) "a non verbal approach to the person using instruments and music in general, the use of interventions to accomplish individual goals."
Music therapy originated back in the old times and was usually used to express the way one felt, if they could not express it their self in the
'common' way. Usually, people who are in the field to become music therapist are successful musicians and/or have a deep knowledge in music
itself and a very big passion for helping other people through music (Harvard Medical School). Music therapy can be a big part of a drug addiction
recovery. According to Your First Step, "Music therapy itself is not enough to help individuals recover from substance abuse on its own but it can be
a useful supplement to other types of addiction treatment." Although it is not 'enough' for recovering addicts, I believe that one day it actually will
be a big part of the recovery process. In group sessions, usually the therapist will get interactive with the individuals and sit in drum circles which
encourages group cooperation. They also record their own personal relaxation CD's that helps reduce fear and anxiety (The Saint Jude Retreats). As
said by the Cabin blog, (and I quote) "music therapy can improve

1. What music do you associate with childhood? How did/does this music make you feel? How do your choices reflect your childhood experiences?
Music in childhood is important as it has many benefits to the physical and mental development of the child. The type of music in this stage is referred
to as lullabies and tunes because at this stage, children are receptive to pitch and rhythm which are the main elements of these songs. To respond to
music, some children sing, dance, hum, screech while others chant it. Others attempt to create new music, play, and dance to go with it.
There are many benefits brought by theses songs. Firstly, over centuries these songs have been used to lull toddlers and young babies to sleep by
soothing them. Secondly, through dancing and handling of musical instruments, physical benefits outstand. Also, development of voice and speech
takes place through singing. It is evident that, auditory training leads to improvement in both concentration and listening skills. Through singing,
children acquire these skills and develop them easily. Lastly, research and documents indicate that the most crucial brain development takes place
during the first six years in childhood. Studies show that children who are exposed to music experience mental development early. In addition, children
exposed to music early show improved academic abilities, self–esteem, and attitude (Stafford). Children as well as their guardians,

Essay On A Music Concert
This afternoon, I went to the music concert hall where is located in the music building for the listening hour, a small noon–time concert which is
performed by the staff and students from the music majors. Since it is a free noon–time concert, most of the audiences just wear the t–shirts and jeans
to the concert. Dresses are not required for the concert. The performance today is given by the Ananda Jazz Ensemble. They have played "Running

Ruben Fuentes; and "Chukaro", also composed by Abi Romero. Because this is a Latin Americdan Journey, all of themusic performed is jazz music.
All pieces played in the concert are an ensemble of piano, bass, and drums. During the concert, I was trying to be a perceptive listener; I enjoyed the
music with concentration and paid attention to the music's unity and variety, such as the dynamics and tempos. I also tried to associate the music
with a picture when I listened to it and understand the emotion in the music. The first piece played in the concert is "Running Away", given by Abi
Romero who plays the piano, Satoro Tagawa who plays the bass and Brandon Winans who plays the drums. The historical period of this piece of
music is the Contemporary Period. The style of this music is jazz. It is a chamber music. It only has one movement and totally has three patterns. This

families in struggling schools. Looking through the sources that I have at this point for my paper I realized that I need to find more information for the
arguments against funding music. There is only one source that I have that doesn't support my argument which is the chapter I pulled from the book

The beautiful sound of piano music has captured the hearts of people since the early eighteenth century. Since then, many musicians have dedicated

In order to become a good pianist, one must have good finger techniques. With good finger techniques, one will be able to play fast music. Because
some music should be played quickly, this can help you play through the music without getting stuck. Good finger techniques can also help you play
piano music very clearly so that the sound is clean and beautiful. In addition, with good finger techniques, you can play piano for a long time without
your finger getting sore. For a thirty minute piece of piano music, one needs to have good finger techniques in order to play this piece well. Having
good finger techniques is an important skill to have as a pianist.
To be able to play piano well, one has to have body flexibility. Good body flexibility can help a piano player to swing their body to the beat. For
example, when a piece of music has complicated rhythm, the player must swing his or her body to the bear in order to get the exact rhythm. Body
flexibility can also help one balance him/her self when he or she moves their body while playing music; thus preventing the piano player from falling
off his or her chair. Lastly, body flexibility can help you play fast music. For instance, when you need to jump from the highest note of the piano to the
lowest, this can help a pianist to move quickly and with ease. A good piano player must have body flexibility.

Music in My Life Essay
Music, it's a part of everyone's life. From childhood sing–a–long songs, to garage grunge music, and everything in between music is everywhere.
Growing up with an extremely musical background it was in my genes that I would become a musician. Playing music has helped me become the
person I am by being a release for my anger, broadening my future and make new friends.. I first joined the band in the fourth grade playing the
drums. I played for about two weeks then I quit because I didn't like it, mostly because of the teacher. In the sixth grade we got a new music teacher
and told me I look like a trumpet player, so I gave it a try. I was taking music lessons but after the first one my music teacher told me she had to leave

When I get into fights with my step dad which to this day is still a problem instead of resorting to violence I would go and blare by favorite song at

had my bass to return home to home to sit for hours and write songs, hundreds of songs. The songs would relate to my feelings. Some songs would
be hard full of hate and anger but some songs were mellow with sad heart filled lyrics. If it weren't for these songs to write I you would not be
sitting here reading my paper. The girls in high school were also a reason for writing songs and playing trumpet. In all of my high school all my
relationships I was cheated on. This caused for harsh break ups, uncalled for arguments, and an untrusting Nick Henry. High school years where

Reflective Essay On Music
Although many may say that learning an instrument is not for everyone, I believe that it is. Over the course of learning how to play an instrument, I
too have thought that it wasn't for me. When I was around the age of 10, I tried to play the drums but quickly lost interest and gave up. It wasn't until
years later that I decided to try again and learn guitar. Withlearning guitar, other instruments came to me easily and I found a passion for music.
Learning an instrument has had nothing but positive impact on many aspects of my life, something I think everyone should experience. Learning an
instrument is tough, however, it is worth it. A problem that would steer many people away from learning is the time that it takes to learn. In our
modern day society, everything is rushed and we really don't set aside a lot of time to sit down to learn anything after school is over. Although learning
an instrument takes lots of practice, it doesn't take up too much time. At the music store I work at, the instructors recommend practicing only for about
15–20 minutes a day. I believe that you have this amount of time in your life no matter how busy you are. A lot of people waste hours of their time
watching a tv show, or scrolling through their phones. Don't be like these people and take advantage of the time you have and learn something new.
Taking the time to actually sit down and learn to play an instrument can have a dramatic effect on your life. It can improve many aspects of your

Reflection About Music

  • 1. Reflection About Music Globally, music is the soundtrack of everyone in the whole world. From older generations to younger generations, music is the universal identity that every individual has something in common. It would be impossible to imagine a world without music, regardless of our culture, personal interpretations or even our own aesthetics, and tastes. As for me, music is one of the few things that have remained constant in my entire life because music has the power to inspire me mentally, physically and emotionally. Music can easily influence my emotions of sadness, happiness, heartaches, and miseries, including my physical moodiness. Actually, taking this class, Music 15–A, allows me to explore these emotions, to think critically, and to be able to apply my knowledge and understanding accordingly. Generally, there were numerous ways how a song can be interpreted; it can either be construed negatively or positively. In order to explore my knowledge and understanding to a certain song or genre, I had to think critically and objectively. For example, the Bawdy Blues genre or Lucille Bogan "aka" Bessie Jackson's song "Shave 'Em Dry" (1935) that exploited innuendo lyrics. Her song was banned to the general public viewers, whereas in the late 80's, explicit librettos were openly out on the market. During my younger years, a hip–hop/rap song entitled "Me So Horny" (1989) by "2 Live Crew" was a hit maker. Both of these songs were very controversial; however, one of the songs was extensively Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Descriptive Essay About Music Name: Jordynn Lim (789469) Music is a very important part of a culture, it is a form of representation and a way of communication. Every culture has their own signature genre and twists in their music style. Here in Melbourne, I travel to Bourke street a busy district thriving with what I believe to be passionate musicians to observe the variety of music Melbourne has in display. Audience When I alighted the tram, there was a man standing near the stop, singing. The street was partially crowded, people mill about the area, walking past the singer and staring curiously before heading to the shopping malls. Strangers sit on the stairs in front of the singer typing on their phone, perhaps they hang around the area to listen to the man sing. Younger adults gawk with their mouth slightly open and eyes wide as they pointed at the man albeit excitedly, perhaps it is their first time seeing a musician out in the open, personally it is a rare sight for me. A few crept closer to the performer before whipping their phone out and aiming the lens at him, it looks like they're trying to record him, the moment they put their phone down, they walk away. There is a guitar case in front of him with a cardboard sign that says, Lucky Moore. On the very left side of the case is a set of CDs there's a smaller cardboard that says DEMO CDS $10. No one approached him during his performance and hardly anyone gave donations until his song ended, then people of varying ages donated and bought CDs off him. There is a sense of respect, to not interrupt a performance despite being in the street. Handmade Moore has a strange instrument around his neck, a small round cylindrical microphone attached to a piece of metal, one end suspends the cylindrical device just in front of the man's chin, and the other end is attached to a thick collar around his neck. Whenever he ducks his head to put his lips to it, the sound of a harmonica resonates through the speaker on the man's right side. The man holds a guitar, a microphone attached to a stand in front of him and the collared instrument. He raises his right heel, toes still on the ground and slams on a lever attached to a greyish brown box behind him with a tambourine. Whenever he steps on the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Music is all around us, yet many of us do not understand it. A simple man with an office job that you pick randomly off the street could most likely tell you the basic rules of American Football, and yet that same man could have never played football in his life before. If you asked that same guy the basics of the music he is listening to, I bet you would get a blank stare back. My argument relates directly to schools so many people can reason football is not technically taught in school, but what about subjects like Biology or the countless other school subjects that a student learns, but never truly needs to utilize later? What makes those subjects any different from music? Maybe even a better question, what makes music different from...show more content... Several studies have supported the claim that musical training aids students in many other areas of schooling and life. The College Entrance Examination Board found that "students involved in public school music programs scored 107 points higher on the SAT's than students with no participation (Music for All)." Many people can say these claims are merely corollary due to the fact that children that are considered smarter will pursue music anyways. This claim cannot truly be supported, but sadly also cannot be disproven. However, research has also been conducted that explicitly says that "early music training dramatically enhancing children's abstract reasoning skills. These findings indicate that music uniquely enhances higher brain functions required for mathematics, chess, science and engineering (Music For All)." This study was conducted by professors Gordon Shaw and Frances Rauscher at the University of California. This conclusion makes sense as no other class make students use their brains in a way a music course does. Music training combines math, language, and problem–solving skills together into one idea. Musical notation is based on a system of ratios and fractions that require a student to have basic mathematical knowledge and also the ability to apply it. For example, the lengths of notes are divided into fraction values. The largest note value is called a whole note, then a quarter note, eighth note, and so on and so Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Music : Music And Music The definition of music is very different to many people. Some say that music is the arrangement of sound and silence. Others like myself say music is that and much more. Music is an aural form of art that is used to express emotion and touch the hearts of the listener through the use of phrasing, dynamics, style and tone color. Music is a very universal art form. There are not many people in this world who do not listen to at least some form of music weather it be pop or rock music on the radio, or the classical music of Beethoven or Mozart. Each genre and style is very unique in it's own way and some styles are more appealing to one person than another. That is why it is very important to expand the types of music taught in educational music programs. There are quite a few different types of music that fit into the instrumental category. We have Jazz, avant grade music, ethnic music, and "art music". Jazz and art music are the two most commonly taught forms of music in public schools today. Although these are two very important forms of music, I feel as though schools should be able to expand the genres. Not only will this widen student's scopes to learning new styles and performance techniques, this will also peak the interest of students who previously felt 'bored' with the music being taught. Avant grade music is typically a newer style of music, it often branches away from traditional methods and forms of writing music. This can pose a new challenge for students, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Modern Music Essay Music has been around for thousands and thousands of years. The caveman had originally started some type of sounds in which branched off into the music that we listen to today. This prehistoric music was started by the cavemen in order for them to express themselves, and the others who listened were affected in the same way that people are affected by music today. For example, if someone is upset they will listen to something that will get them into a better mood, perhaps something mellow or soft. If they are happy, they will listen to something that is more energetic, and so on. After I interviewed four people––friends and family––I found out what type of music they listened to when they are upset, angry, or calm. Music touches people's...show more content... I asked Kyle's roommate, Tim what type music he listens to when he is in certain moods. He said, "Sometimes when I am homesick I listen to Frank Sinatra because my mother and father listen to it all the time, so it reminds me of them." He is also a big rap fan, but not as much as Kyle. Tim can listen to anything at any time, for instance, he could listen to Notorious BIG one minute then listen to Marilyn Manson the next. He continues, "If I have the urge to get pumped up then I need something that is crazy and wild to get me in that mood, like White Zombie or some sort of heavy music." There have also been lawsuits involved with such heavy metal like Marilyn Manson, Ozzy Osbourne, Slayer, and Judas Priest. Marilyn Manson's music had been to blame for the suicide of 13 year–old boy from California. Another family from California sued the band Slayer because their lyrics inspired three teenage boys to rape and murder their daughter. Ozzy Osbourne and Judas Priest had lawsuits filed against them claiming their lyrics drove teens to attempt suicide in the late 80's, but the cases were won by the artists –3– (Demean). Once again people or teenagers took the music too seriously, and they ended making stupid mistakes by doing so. These teenagers are allowed to listen to such music at an early age when they look up to certain entertainers like––Marilyn Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Descriptive Essay On Music The piano is one of my favorite musical instruments. It is a great instrument because of how easy it is to pick up on it. Unlike other instruments like the violin and guitar, you always know what you are going to get when you attempt to play a note. It also sounds amazing and it is very relaxing to the ear. Pianos are played in many styles but the two most popular styles would probably be classical and jazz. Jazz styled music is most focused on improvisation while classically styled music requires you to master many skills from the keyboard. Classical is known to be the hardest style to learn. I tried to play a few classical pieces on my piano but each hand is playing completely different notes at different times and it's hard because the notes are played so fast. If you accidentally play a wrong note, it doesn't sound right. My favorite genres of the piano are classical and light jazz. There are many singer–songwriters who play piano that inspire me to play. The sound of the piano is very unique and I like how you can combine many keys to make cool melodies. The piano has evolved over the years from the harpsichord to the grand piano to digital keyboards. In 1700, the piano was born thanks to Bartolomeo di Francesco Cristofori. The piano is a fascinating instrument that has changed over time and continues to be an important instrument in the music industry. The first piano was created by, Bartolomeo di Francesco Cristofori. • 7. Music And Dance And Music Essay There is no denying that when decent music is playing people cannot help but get in the dancing mood. Studies show that people, even when still in the womb, react to music. This reaction just grows and grows as a person develops... "children between 1 and 2 years of age were made to listen to Credence Clearwater Revival's "Heard it Through the Grapevine" [and] within a minute of listening to the insistent drums and guitar riffs, the babies started to move in synchronicity with the song (Brenshofl, Roger para. 2). Even though these small children were not able to keep their moves up for long before falling, it sure did not stop them from trying! It is obvious that music and dance are related on a very high level, but what makes these two arts so complimentary of one another? When dance and music are done together there is an emotional response on the deep and superficial level in humans that builds through the practice and evolution of dance and music respectively. To begin to understand the relationship between music and dance, one must understand what they are individually. Dance is a well known form of art that allows one to express personal beliefs, ideas, or just strictly emotions through the movement of their body. This can be done in may ways because there are many forms of dance. From explosive jazz, to emotional lyrical, and informative pedestrian, all dance styles seem to have a way of conveying an idea to an audience. As one may expect, music is very similar in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Defining Music Essay Nic Giordano Comp 1 Definition Essay Music Music; Indefinable by words alone. It is not only something you can hear but what you can feel. It is something your soul is able to reach out and touch. Music also has the power to bring us as humans, together. It is one language spoken by all cultures, sexes, races, age and religions. Music also controls our emotions; it makes us happy, sad, angry, relaxed, etc. We also can express ourselves through music. It can affect our personality.. someone who listens to classical, like Mozart or Bach, all the time is going to be smarter and more intellectual than someone who listens to rap or metal, and someone who listens to more upbeat happier music, like Ska or Swing, is more likely to...show more content... This can be overwhelming to the listener. Knowing when and how much to utilize silence is part of listening, one of the key skills of any musician. "Just because you can't hear it doesn't mean it's not music" Music is respect. Respect to ones self and to others, whether it is someone that has the same taste in music as you, or someone that has the complete opposite taste as you. That's something I see happen way to much, people bashing on other people because of what they listen to. Instead of accepting that everyone isn't going to like what you like. Music is supposed to be something we all have in common, it's supposed to bring us together and create peace, not turn us against each other. It's something that we all do, including me at times. Not only in music but in everyday life. Music originates from all over the world since the beginning of time. Complex or simple, fast or slow, loud or soft. It's what you feel. It could be your method of escape or keeping you living. Music is love. Music is passion. Music is unity. Music is emotion. Music is belief. Music is beauty. Music is life. Music is perfection. • 10. Informative Speech On Music Therapy Have you ever been in a certain situation, and you just did not know what to do? And it felt as if music solved your problem or helped you out? Well, you probably had your own music therapy session. This topic is relevant because people use music on a daily basis to help with frustration, depression, etc. and it just might be an alternative for illnesses and the addiction recovery process. I am a credible resource because I have done extensive research on this topic. I believe music therapy helps with drug addiction, illness, and depression and can replace medicine that people take for illnesses and also be better than the process people go through with addiction recovery. I am now going to give you the background on music therapy and hopefully persuade some of you that music therapy actually does help and can replace medicine for the greater good. First of all, what is music therapy and how can it help with drug addiction people may ask. Well, according to wikipedia, music therapy is, (and I quote) "a non verbal approach to the person using instruments and music in general, the use of interventions to accomplish individual goals." Music therapy originated back in the old times and was usually used to express the way one felt, if they could not express it their self in the 'common' way. Usually, people who are in the field to become music therapist are successful musicians and/or have a deep knowledge in music itself and a very big passion for helping other people through music (Harvard Medical School). Music therapy can be a big part of a drug addiction recovery. According to Your First Step, "Music therapy itself is not enough to help individuals recover from substance abuse on its own but it can be a useful supplement to other types of addiction treatment." Although it is not 'enough' for recovering addicts, I believe that one day it actually will be a big part of the recovery process. In group sessions, usually the therapist will get interactive with the individuals and sit in drum circles which encourages group cooperation. They also record their own personal relaxation CD's that helps reduce fear and anxiety (The Saint Jude Retreats). As said by the Cabin blog, (and I quote) "music therapy can improve Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Descriptive Essay About Music I grab the white headphones and put the EarPods into my ears. Then, I go through a variety of songs until my thumb lingers over the song "You Know Me" by a band named Thunder Dreamer. Quickly, I click play and the world around me stops as the music enters my ears. The soft guitar strums put an end to my over thinking and suppresses my feelings of sadness. By the time the vocals appear in the song, I can only think about music and how happy I am in this moment. By this I mean that hearing music is the equivalent of being at peace. To be more specific, music puts me in every place I've ever felt happiness, tastes as sweet as it sounds and relaxes my overwhelming thoughts. With this said, I am on top of the world when I have the headphones in my ears. I feel as though I can do anything when I am blasting a song by Cage the Elephant on my speaker. Whether I am listening through my headphones or on a speaker, the volume is always the highest it can be. This way, the music penetrates through the walls and through every layer of skin on my body. I know this high level of noise is not good for me, but the music is. Uniquely, music places me back into every dream I've ever forgotten. I am suddenly placed into the dream where I'm a kid and I am laughing as my friends try to catch me in a game of tag. In a matter of three beats, I am a child again and I can only thank music for this. Moreover, when I hear Frank Sinatra's voice playing from my "Classics" playlist, I am put back into the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

How do your choices reflect your childhood experiences? Music in childhood is important as it has many benefits to the physical and mental development of the child. The type of music in this stage is referred to as lullabies and tunes because at this stage, children are receptive to pitch and rhythm which are the main elements of these songs. • 15. Essay On A Music Concert This afternoon, I went to the music concert hall where is located in the music building for the listening hour, a small noon–time concert which is performed by the staff and students from the music majors. Since it is a free noon–time concert, most of the audiences just wear the t–shirts and jeans to the concert. Dresses are not required for the concert. The performance today is given by the Ananda Jazz Ensemble. They have played "Running Away", composed by Bob Marley; "Madalena", composed by Ivan Linz; "Conejitos y Ananda", composed by Abi Romero; "La Bikina", composed by Ruben Fuentes; and "Chukaro", also composed by Abi Romero. Because this is a Latin Americdan Journey, all of themusic performed is jazz music. All pieces played in the concert are an ensemble of piano, bass, and drums. During the concert, I was trying to be a perceptive listener; I enjoyed the music with concentration and paid attention to the music's unity and variety, such as the dynamics and tempos. I also tried to associate the music with a picture when I listened to it and understand the emotion in the music. The first piece played in the concert is "Running Away", given by Abi Romero who plays the piano, Satoro Tagawa who plays the bass and Brandon Winans who plays the drums. The historical period of this piece of music is the Contemporary Period. The style of this music is jazz. It is a chamber music. It only has one movement and totally has three patterns. • 16. Music Education Thesis Statement I chose to discuss the issue of funding on music education in public schools. My issue will focus on how students are negatively impacted by the defunding of music programs and departments. My position will focus on the positive affects music has on academics and personal development. The thesis statement will then argue that students must have funded music education in their schooling to be successful in their futures. From the sources that I have collected most of them support my opinion that music education must be funded since it helps build young students characters. The article, "Class Dismissed" helps support this opinion by using the examples of musical artist that would not have existed without music in school. The article will also...show more content... With music education, there is also the risk for stolen equipment since instruments and their risks can be a turn off to families in struggling schools. Looking through the sources that I have at this point for my paper I realized that I need to find more information for the arguments against funding music. There is only one source that I have that doesn't support my argument which is the chapter I pulled from the book "Collaborative Learning in Higher Music Education." This chapter has some of the negative effects that have been observed to occur in music collaboration in schooling. From this counterargument, I think I can defend the fact collaboration is a good thing in music and only bad programs experience the negative Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 18. Music in My Life Essay Music, it's a part of everyone's life. From childhood sing–a–long songs, to garage grunge music, and everything in between music is everywhere. Growing up with an extremely musical background it was in my genes that I would become a musician. Playing music has helped me become the person I am by being a release for my anger, broadening my future and make new friends.. I first joined the band in the fourth grade playing the drums. I played for about two weeks then I quit because I didn't like it, mostly because of the teacher. In the sixth grade we got a new music teacher and told me I look like a trumpet player, so I gave it a try. I was taking music lessons but after the first one my music teacher told me she had to leave because she...show more content... Also after having a hard time in high school being wrongfully suspended twice instead of dropping out or giving up I had my bass to return home to home to sit for hours and write songs, hundreds of songs. The songs would relate to my feelings. Some songs would be hard full of hate and anger but some songs were mellow with sad heart filled lyrics. If it weren't for these songs to write I you would not be sitting here reading my paper. The girls in high school were also a reason for writing songs and playing trumpet. In all of my high school all my relationships I was cheated on. This caused for harsh break ups, uncalled for arguments, and an untrusting Nick Henry. High school years where trying times and if it wasn't for my music things would not have turned out they way they have. Music equals life, or the saying goes. I feel if I had dropped out of band I would have missed out on a great experience. The ability to play music is something that will live on in you for the rest of your life. Unlike playing a sport you can't ever get worn out or injured and lose the talent. • 20. Reflective Essay On Music Although many may say that learning an instrument is not for everyone, I believe that it is. Over the course of learning how to play an instrument, I too have thought that it wasn't for me. When I was around the age of 10, I tried to play the drums but quickly lost interest and gave up. It wasn't until years later that I decided to try again and learn guitar. Withlearning guitar, other instruments came to me easily and I found a passion for music. Learning an instrument has had nothing but positive impact on many aspects of my life, something I think everyone should experience. Learning an instrument is tough, however, it is worth it. A problem that would steer many people away from learning is the time that it takes to learn. In our modern day society, everything is rushed and we really don't set aside a lot of time to sit down to learn anything after school is over. Although learning an instrument takes lots of practice, it doesn't take up too much time. At the music store I work at, the instructors recommend practicing only for about 15–20 minutes a day. I believe that you have this amount of time in your life no matter how busy you are. A lot of people waste hours of their time watching a tv show, or scrolling through their phones. Don't be like these people and take advantage of the time you have and learn something new. Taking the time to actually sit down and learn to play an instrument can have a dramatic effect on your life. It can improve many aspects of your Get more content on HelpWriting.net
