2. WHAT’S THIS ALL ABOUT?
Thousands of tourists from all over the world visit Sharjah, the third largest
emirates of the United Arab Emirates, each year to witness its natural and man-
made beauty.
With typically hot Middle Eastern weather, Sharjah is the only emirate among the
seven with land on both the Arabian Gulf Coast and the Gulf of Oman.
Al Qasba is one of the more popular tourist spots thanks to its cultural diversity
and broad range of attractions, like the Al Qasba Musical Fountain, Eye of the
Emirates Wheel and relaxing Sharjah boat tours.
Arabic is the official spoken language in Sharjah, with many locals and
businesses within tourist areas speaking English. Learning a few basic phrases in
Arabic is advised to help you in your day-to-day activities.
3. ATTRACTIONS
We’ve selected our top 5 things to see and do Sharjah:

the heart of Sharjah and is the largest mosque in the emirate.

children are sure to enjoy the walk-in aviary.
4. WEATHER
Hot summers and mild winters characterise the climate in Sharjah.
Beginning in April and lasting until October, the summer offers average high
temperatures of around 40°C, with lows that rarely dip below 30°C. There is
almost no rainfall or breeze to provide reprieve from the heat.
Winter is the most popular time for tourists as the temperatures remain a hot, yet
pleasant average of 30°C. The season lasts from November until March, with a
small amount of rainfall from January onwards.
5. CLOTHING
Throughout the year, the intense heat calls for light and loose clothing,
though modesty must be shown in public areas out of respect for the
local culture.
Women can wear swimwear in hotel swimming pools and at the
beaches, as long as a top is worn. Men are less restricted; however they
should not walk in public streets and areas without a shirt on.
Sunglasses, sun cream and a protective hat are all must-have items.
6. IDEAL FOR…?
The heat and generous amount of sunshine make Sharjah ideal
for anyone who wants to spend lazy days lounging by a pool.
Many of the resorts and local activities are very family-friendly,
though younger visitors may find the heat difficult to cope with,
especially during the summer months.
