Is College For Everyone Essay
High school seniors have many choices to make. One important choice is whether or not to go to college. Harvard as the first college founded in
1636. At this point only 4% of young people attended college (Anderberg, Jeremy. "Is College for Everyone?). As of 2013 there are about 14 million
students enrolled in a 4 year institutions, and that number is expected to jump to around 20 million in the next few years (Anderberg, Jeremy. "Is College
for Everyone?). College is hard and is not for everybody, but is it worth it? A college education is worth it in many ways it will lead you to success,
way easier than a high school diploma. A college education gets you better financial success, gives you a much healthier life and greater success, and
college graduates have more and better employment opportunities.
A college degree gets you many things in life such as better financial success. People will argue that it doesn't give you financial success but it
gives you debt and student loans to pay off because student debt can cause a financial crisis. According to as website called Procon.org, "The
average student borrower graduated in 2014 with $28,950 in debt. In June 2016, undergraduate college graduates had an average of $37,173 in loan
debt" (sec. 1). People that think college is not worth it might also reference the case of Doug Wallace Jr. Wallace fought for six years to have his
$38,000 in student loans discharged after becoming blind and being unable to work; his student

Importance of a College Education
Higher education paves a future and provides opportunities for students to grow. Continuing education is something that is very important and is
essential for the growth and development of an individual. By getting an education, a person is able to rise above the rest and is able to achieve so
much more in life. College education is a step further and takes a person into realms that can only be understood and appreciated by someone that has
earned a college degree. Although, college is expensive, it provides several opportunities for students to grow, and gives them a better chance of
obtaining a position in the work force.
Higher education systems can be considered very valuable because they provide individuals with life skills that are essential to being successful in life.
While studying at a higher education system, one is forced to develop essential time management skills. Allison Acquaviva, a student from Utica
College, states that "College gave me a little glimpse into how to be better organized, balance fun and work, and put my priorities in order." Acquaviva,
is insisting that while attending college she learned how to better organize her life. With time needed for studying, attending classes, completing
homework, relaxation, and doing fun things as well, one needs to manage their time in order to avoid failing out. These time management skills help
out individuals later on in life. Another important skill that individuals who

A respectable college education gives people the advantage to lead themselves in any direction they want to proceed in life. College is a time that
students can truly become individuals. They have the opportunity to become more independent and to take on new responsibilities. The bonuses of a
college education include more self–confidence, greater economic stability and security, and it makes you a major contributor to the greatest nation on
earth.
Higher education is good for many things in today's world. College experiences help people to truly find themselves through personal growth. Higher

It provides millions of opportunities to become educated. In many other countries, education is prohibited, especially to women. It is important to take
advantage of these prospects that our country has given us and make the most of our educational experience, and eventually make the most of our
careers. The United States provides us with scholarships, financial aid, and community colleges to get around the high cost of education. These benefits
are given to us so that more and more educated Americans can contribute to our society.
In the near future, I expect to gain many important aspects from my college education. The first and most important thing I hope to gain from this
experience is independence. In my opinion, having a successful career of your own is one of the best things you can accomplish. The best matter
to never have to worry about, is depending on other people. You never know what will happen to you in the future. You always want something to
fall back on something and a college diploma is the perfect answer. The last component that I hope to gain from college is a great life experience
that I will never forget. This is only my first semester as a freshman, but I can already predict that college is going to give me all of these gifts.
In Alice Walker's Everyday Use, Walker seems to view a college education as a good thing in certain situations. If you go to college, you will

The Importance Of A College Education
During their high school career, students may begin to question the importance of a college education. They might find themselves asking, "Why is it
important to go to college?" The answer is that, more than ever, attending college provides opportunities for graduates which are not as widespread to
those who have not received a higher education.
For many high school students, being able to immediately generate an income after graduation is an appealing thought. They may also be repelled by
the rising cost of tuition, and while it is true that a higher education may be one of the largest expenses you will ever face, the importance of a college
education has become quite evident in terms of earning potential within today's economy.
Why Should You go to College?
One important answer to this question is more opportunity. As opposed to generations of the past, high school graduates today are unable to obtain the
number of high–paying jobs that were once available. The U.S. has been transformed from a manufacturing–based economy to an economy based on
knowledge, and the importance of a college education today can be compared to that of a high school education forty years ago. It serves as the
gateway to better options and more opportunity.
There are additional reasons as to why it is important to go to college. When students experience a post secondary education, they have the opportunity
to read books and listen to the lectures of top experts in their fields. This stimulation encourages students to think, ask questions, and explore new
ideas, which allows for additional growth and development and provides college graduates with an edge in the job market over those who have not
experienced a higher education.
The importance of a college education is also accentuated because of the opportunity to gain valuable resources during your tenure. The more
connections which are collected during your college career, the more options you will have when you begin your job search. Once you have ended
your job search and have started your career, however, the importance of a college education has not been exhausted. Having a college degree often
provides for greater promotion opportunity.
So, why should you go to college?

Linda Jiang– Student Essay Question #1: Why is a college education important to you? 300–500 words each
A college education is important to me because it opens my future for better opportunities within the medical field. Currently, a pharmacist is a
profession that I am the most interested in because I enjoy chemistry, the meticulous, and well organized work that they are known for. A college
education will teach me the skills to become a pharmacist, provide me with hands–on experiences in this career, and give me ample resources to find a
job in the most enjoyable career path. Even if I choose to pursue a different career, a college education will most definitely prepare me for the career as
long as I am willing to study and work hard. In the competitive world that we live in, even a low–paying job can be difficult to procure, not to mention
how scarce high–paying jobs and reasonable working conditions are. A college education makes it easier to get high paying jobs and stand out in
job applications. College graduates have an edge and a larger variety of jobs to choose from. Even if through the college education I do not find
what I enjoy doing, the professors, people I would have met, and activities that I would have participated in, will most likely give me a larger insight
on what I want to do as a career.
In addition to opening my future to better opportunities, there are also two other reasons why a college education is important to me. The first reason
is that I

It was only when I had my son that I realized just how important it is to have a college education. Despite working more than forty hours a week at
a daycare, I was struggling to pay bills and provide for my family. Pawning and selling valuables to make sure we had enough food to eat for the
week was a regular occurrence and knowing which days of the month the nearest food bank was open became a regular calendar event.
Qualification requirements limited opportunities outside the daycare and jobs that did not ask for a degree did not pay enough to be able to
afford daycare while I worked. Many times, I would lie awake at night trying to figure out how to make ends meet, wishing I could give my son
more, and cursing myself for not getting an education and having a career. Becoming a single mother was what pushed me to go to college at the
age of 33. My overall goal is to provide a wonderful life for my son, where he will have everything he needs and more, by working in a field that I
believe in and that provides the type of salary I need to support him. The educational goals and objectives that I have set for myself include attaining
my Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice at UTEP, doing an internship through the Criminal Justice Department, and taking full advantage of the
resources that UTEP offers to hone my skills and gain valuable knowledge that will set me up for success as a crime and intelligence analyst for law

How Important is a College Education?
When it comes to embarking on post secondary education the views of it's importance and relevance is controversial. In Murray's Op–Ed piece,
"Should The Obama Generation Drop Out", he believes a college education is unnecessary. I, however disagree with Murray's notion. College is
necessary according to a person's career choice and it's requirements. Throughout my middle and high school years, both my peers and I were strongly
encouraged to go to college. I was not only urged by teachers, but my family members also. It is intriguing how closely connected that is after
Murray discussed how college is promoted and organized. Growing up, I was taught that college would be the door of opportunity to a guaranteed
better life. While college maybe unnecessary for some, it is necessary for others. As for myself, I believe college is necessary in order for me to
advance towards my career in Journalism. Upon my high school graduation, I had decided to go straight into the workforce. At the time I
preferred to have a job making money instead of going to school losing money. Quickly, I learned that I was still losing money even though I was
working. I was working for survival, just to "make ends meet", and in opposite direction of the career I desired. That experience alone encouraged
me to pursue my college education even more because I knew I could not make it without it. Nowadays a bachelor's degree is a prerequisite for jobs
in journalism, regardless of the fact that one may have

A college education is a necessity in today's time but "does the cost of college out weight the benefits?". Growing up my mother always told me
"you can't afford a family on a "Dairy Queen" salary. There are multiple pros and cons of a college education such as better a career, with less manual
labor, pay, knowledge and career advancement among multiple other opportunities. There are also cons such as the price ofcollege tuition the damage

If decided to attend college, the following decision to be made revolves around an area of study one would like to pursue and the topic of study that
will be available for them. Though many can further their education in different ways, a couple of ways consist of attending a four year college (private
/ public) or a community college. Not going to college at all is the other alternative, but is it really a smart idea? Most adults have continuously told
young students all through high school to attend college. A student's chance of economic success in the future can be risen due to a college education.

Why Is It Important To Have A College Education
Over the years, I have come to realize how important it is to have a college education. I have also learned to appreciate the fact that I even have the
opportunity to go to college. What inspires me to keep pushing for success is my father's willpower. When my dad left India to come to the United
States of America, he had nothing but a small apartment, an arduous job at a textile mill, and barely any support from his family. "There were
times," he tells me, "that I never saw the light of day because for months on end I began working before the crack of dawn and finished long after

because I will have work experience behind me as well my degree. Still and all, if I could do it again, I would have immediately attended college right
after my high school graduation. If I had taken the correct course I would have already graduated and would probably be in a higher paying position.
I was warned time and time again to go to school, because work would always be there. A hard head makes a soft behind.

Is College For Everyone Essay

  • 1. Is College For Everyone Essay High school seniors have many choices to make. One important choice is whether or not to go to college. Harvard as the first college founded in 1636. At this point only 4% of young people attended college (Anderberg, Jeremy. "Is College for Everyone?). As of 2013 there are about 14 million students enrolled in a 4 year institutions, and that number is expected to jump to around 20 million in the next few years (Anderberg, Jeremy. "Is College for Everyone?). College is hard and is not for everybody, but is it worth it? A college education is worth it in many ways it will lead you to success, way easier than a high school diploma. A college education gets you better financial success, gives you a much healthier life and greater success, and college graduates have more and better employment opportunities. A college degree gets you many things in life such as better financial success. People will argue that it doesn't give you financial success but it gives you debt and student loans to pay off because student debt can cause a financial crisis. According to as website called Procon.org, "The average student borrower graduated in 2014 with $28,950 in debt. In June 2016, undergraduate college graduates had an average of $37,173 in loan debt" (sec. 1). People that think college is not worth it might also reference the case of Doug Wallace Jr. Wallace fought for six years to have his $38,000 in student loans discharged after becoming blind and being unable to work; his student Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Importance Of A College Education Importance of a College Education Higher education paves a future and provides opportunities for students to grow. Continuing education is something that is very important and is essential for the growth and development of an individual. By getting an education, a person is able to rise above the rest and is able to achieve so much more in life. College education is a step further and takes a person into realms that can only be understood and appreciated by someone that has earned a college degree. Although, college is expensive, it provides several opportunities for students to grow, and gives them a better chance of obtaining a position in the work force. Higher education systems can be considered very valuable because they provide individuals with life skills that are essential to being successful in life. While studying at a higher education system, one is forced to develop essential time management skills. Allison Acquaviva, a student from Utica College, states that "College gave me a little glimpse into how to be better organized, balance fun and work, and put my priorities in order." Acquaviva, is insisting that while attending college she learned how to better organize her life. With time needed for studying, attending classes, completing homework, relaxation, and doing fun things as well, one needs to manage their time in order to avoid failing out. These time management skills help out individuals later on in life. Another important skill that individuals who Get more content on HelpWriting.net

College is a time that students can truly become individuals. They have the opportunity to become more independent and to take on new responsibilities. The bonuses of a college education include more self–confidence, greater economic stability and security, and it makes you a major contributor to the greatest nation on earth. It provides millions of opportunities to become educated. In many other countries, education is prohibited, especially to women. It is important to take advantage of these prospects that our country has given us and make the most of our educational experience, and eventually make the most of our careers. The United States provides us with scholarships, financial aid, and community colleges to get around the high cost of education. These benefits are given to us so that more and more educated Americans can contribute to our society. In the near future, I expect to gain many important aspects from my college education. The first and most important thing I hope to gain from this experience is independence. In my opinion, having a successful career of your own is one of the best things you can accomplish. The best matter to never have to worry about, is depending on other people. You never know what will happen to you in the future. You always want something to fall back on something and a college diploma is the perfect answer. The last component that I hope to gain from college is a great life experience that I will never forget. This is only my first semester as a freshman, but I can already predict that college is going to give me all of these gifts. In Alice Walker's Everyday Use, Walker seems to view a college education as a good thing in certain situations. • 4. The Importance Of A College Education During their high school career, students may begin to question the importance of a college education. They might find themselves asking, "Why is it important to go to college?" The answer is that, more than ever, attending college provides opportunities for graduates which are not as widespread to those who have not received a higher education. For many high school students, being able to immediately generate an income after graduation is an appealing thought. They may also be repelled by the rising cost of tuition, and while it is true that a higher education may be one of the largest expenses you will ever face, the importance of a college education has become quite evident in terms of earning potential within today's economy. Why Should You go to College? One important answer to this question is more opportunity. As opposed to generations of the past, high school graduates today are unable to obtain the number of high–paying jobs that were once available. The U.S. has been transformed from a manufacturing–based economy to an economy based on knowledge, and the importance of a college education today can be compared to that of a high school education forty years ago. It serves as the gateway to better options and more opportunity. There are additional reasons as to why it is important to go to college. When students experience a post secondary education, they have the opportunity to read books and listen to the lectures of top experts in their fields. This stimulation encourages students to think, ask questions, and explore new ideas, which allows for additional growth and development and provides college graduates with an edge in the job market over those who have not experienced a higher education. The importance of a college education is also accentuated because of the opportunity to gain valuable resources during your tenure. The more connections which are collected during your college career, the more options you will have when you begin your job search. Once you have ended your job search and have started your career, however, the importance of a college education has not been exhausted. Having a college degree often provides for greater promotion opportunity. So, why should you go to college?

It stemmed from my lack of understanding the importance of an education. I coasted by, did the bare minimum to get through high school and unfortunately that carried over to college. I graduated from Stow–Munroe Falls High School with a 2.3 GPA. I was in the bottom 20% of my graduating class. I was; however, still accepted into the University of Akron. I needed a challenge, and North East Ohio was not the place for me to grow or succeed. After moving to New York, I was forced to survive, make a life for myself. I began working as a consultant for Salvatto Sound LLC. I was helping with the design and implementation of acoustic treatments in recording studios. I worked with people I would only ever dream of working with Herbie Hancock, George Lucas, and Andrew W.K. The list of names was growing rapidly. I met successful people, and I learned how to be successful myself. I spent two years out of school working, perfecting my craft. I started a small business, and I began landing jobs in cities across the East Coast. I was proud of the person I was becoming, but there was still an emptiness in my life. • 10. Importance Of College Education Essay Linda Jiang– Student Essay Question #1: Why is a college education important to you? 300–500 words each A college education is important to me because it opens my future for better opportunities within the medical field. Currently, a pharmacist is a profession that I am the most interested in because I enjoy chemistry, the meticulous, and well organized work that they are known for. A college education will teach me the skills to become a pharmacist, provide me with hands–on experiences in this career, and give me ample resources to find a job in the most enjoyable career path. Even if I choose to pursue a different career, a college education will most definitely prepare me for the career as long as I am willing to study and work hard. In the competitive world that we live in, even a low–paying job can be difficult to procure, not to mention how scarce high–paying jobs and reasonable working conditions are. A college education makes it easier to get high paying jobs and stand out in job applications. College graduates have an edge and a larger variety of jobs to choose from. Even if through the college education I do not find what I enjoy doing, the professors, people I would have met, and activities that I would have participated in, will most likely give me a larger insight on what I want to do as a career. In addition to opening my future to better opportunities, there are also two other reasons why a college education is important to me. The first reason is that I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. I admit I did not take school seriously the last time I was enrolled. I know I should not make excuses about my lack of commitment, but I would like to explain my circumstances at the time. I thought I was wonder woman and could do it all. I was attempting to raise two children, working, and going to school. I know that there are many individuals in the same situation who do it all and succeed. • 12. Importance Of College Education It was only when I had my son that I realized just how important it is to have a college education. Despite working more than forty hours a week at a daycare, I was struggling to pay bills and provide for my family. Pawning and selling valuables to make sure we had enough food to eat for the week was a regular occurrence and knowing which days of the month the nearest food bank was open became a regular calendar event. Qualification requirements limited opportunities outside the daycare and jobs that did not ask for a degree did not pay enough to be able to afford daycare while I worked. Many times, I would lie awake at night trying to figure out how to make ends meet, wishing I could give my son more, and cursing myself for not getting an education and having a career. Becoming a single mother was what pushed me to go to college at the age of 33. My overall goal is to provide a wonderful life for my son, where he will have everything he needs and more, by working in a field that I believe in and that provides the type of salary I need to support him. The educational goals and objectives that I have set for myself include attaining my Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice at UTEP, doing an internship through the Criminal Justice Department, and taking full advantage of the resources that UTEP offers to hone my skills and gain valuable knowledge that will set me up for success as a crime and intelligence analyst for law enforcement, a career that will help me carry out my Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 14. Importance Of College Education I was born and raised in New York. My six siblings and I always had the necessities of life. My parents made sure we had a roof over our heads, food on the table, clothes on our backs, and a lot of love. They felt that a college education was very important but they could not afford to offer one to me so I began working full time right after high school. I worked very hard, but without a college degree, it was clear there would be little room for advancement. I knew I wanted more for myself so I made the decision to go to college. I was supporting myself by this time so I had to continue working full time during the day while taking courses at Nassau Community College during the evening. I was not sure of my career path so I tested the waters by taking courses in areas that I thought I would enjoy. First, I tried Marketing; I quickly realized it was not for me. Economics was an area that I enjoyed, but I didn't know how I could apply it to my career. As I explored the various areas of study, it became very clear to me that I was far less creative and far more analytical than I thought when I started this journey. I realized I was very good with numbers so an accounting degree seemed to make the most sense. As time passed, it seemed like life got in the way of my pursuit of a college degree. I got married and shortly thereafter, we began a family. I continued to work full time during the day and my husband, a police officer, worked nights. It became far too difficult for me Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. How Important is a College Education? When it comes to embarking on post secondary education the views of it's importance and relevance is controversial. In Murray's Op–Ed piece, "Should The Obama Generation Drop Out", he believes a college education is unnecessary. I, however disagree with Murray's notion. College is necessary according to a person's career choice and it's requirements. Throughout my middle and high school years, both my peers and I were strongly encouraged to go to college. I was not only urged by teachers, but my family members also. It is intriguing how closely connected that is after Murray discussed how college is promoted and organized. Growing up, I was taught that college would be the door of opportunity to a guaranteed better life. While college maybe unnecessary for some, it is necessary for others. As for myself, I believe college is necessary in order for me to advance towards my career in Journalism. Upon my high school graduation, I had decided to go straight into the workforce. At the time I preferred to have a job making money instead of going to school losing money. Quickly, I learned that I was still losing money even though I was working. I was working for survival, just to "make ends meet", and in opposite direction of the career I desired. That experience alone encouraged me to pursue my college education even more because I knew I could not make it without it. Nowadays a bachelor's degree is a prerequisite for jobs in journalism, regardless of the fact that one may have Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 17. The Benefits Of A College Education A college education is a necessity in today's time but "does the cost of college out weight the benefits?". Growing up my mother always told me "you can't afford a family on a "Dairy Queen" salary. There are multiple pros and cons of a college education such as better a career, with less manual labor, pay, knowledge and career advancement among multiple other opportunities. There are also cons such as the price ofcollege tuition the damage to your credit that comes with unpaid student loans and the amount of time it takes to gain a college degree. I myself think that the benefits of college outweigh the cost. Without a college degree, your options are limited to careers such as restaurant positions, retail positions, warehouse positions, and manual labor positions, "Individuals with only a high school diploma were twice as likely to be unemployed as those holding College degrees." These jobs require simple tasks while, A college degree the tasks are much more complex and your options aren't limited. In my opinion there are multiple paths that can be taken with a college degree you can walk in any place of business within reason and walk out with a job depending on your major although some places of business may require some experience, a college degree offers job security. Statistics project that "75 percent of future positions are expected to require at least some type of certification or licensure, and professions that require a college degree are projected to grow Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 21. Why Is It Important To Have A College Education Over the years, I have come to realize how important it is to have a college education. I have also learned to appreciate the fact that I even have the opportunity to go to college. What inspires me to keep pushing for success is my father's willpower. When my dad left India to come to the United States of America, he had nothing but a small apartment, an arduous job at a textile mill, and barely any support from his family. "There were times," he tells me, "that I never saw the light of day because for months on end I began working before the crack of dawn and finished long after sundown." Today, my dad is a well–established Safety Manager for a company and makes enough money to allow my family to live comfortably in one of the best neighborhoods Get more content on HelpWriting.net

You make a life by what you give" (Winston Churchill, circa 1940) Learning the importance of getting a good college education did not come to me until I was 31 years old. Many of my friends, and colleagues and I were of the same age, however they were far beyond me in educational levels. It was for this reason, and other reasons, including better society levels, and the ability to achieve my career goals, that I decided to go back to college. I did not realize the impact this would have on my future. My mind told me I did not need a degree as long as I had a full time job with a good salary. But I soon realized that this blue collar work was not something I wanted to remain in for the rest of my life. While many of my peers were progressing, getting promotions and higher salaries, I remained the 'ever so needed' administrative assistant in the Navy and now in the civilian world, preparing for my release from the Navy. I have to admit, I am great at what I do, or so I have been told on many occasions. However, the majority of what I do is not challenging enough to hold my interest for a long period of time. I have an intelligent mind and I intend to put it to full use. I want the doors of opportunity to come my way, and getting a proper college education will be the key. I have an even a greater chance to succeed because I will have work experience behind me as well my degree. Still and all, if I could do it again, I would have immediately attended college right after my high school graduation. If I had taken the correct course I would have already graduated and would probably be in a higher paying position. I was warned time and time again to go to school, because work would always be there. A hard head makes a soft behind.
