2. creative museum is an experimental and independent think tank
we position ourselves as a team willing to be in the avant-garde of museum
creativity
3. our aim is to challenge rutine, motivate to work in a team and inspire through
critical analysis
in this case criticism shouldn’t be taken as an expression of negative
emotions, but rather as a critical thinking and a view from aside
creative museum is provoking an open discussion and public debate
4. our creative museum is a museum working as a driver of creativity,
development and growth. we want to talk about the 21st century museum,
about society changing and museums changing with it
5. why now?
for many years, Latvian museums just sat in silence
museums demanded automatic respect: come and respect me and it started
to seem strange for people
not a lot of change happened and question don’t you think something should
be done about it? was stated
but it’s silly to act in the same old way and yet expect something new
6. why now?
despite the shock therapy of changing economy in the last decades which
forced museums to leave their comfort zone and start introducing more
engaging approaches towards its visitors, it is still premature to speak about
modern museum management practice in Latvia;
EC programme Creative Europe 2014 - 2020 is as a starting point to talk about
the role of museums in the family of cultural and creative industries;
7. the necessity to talk about museums in view to their economic value;
vision of a modern and competitive museum among other cultural service
providers;
emphasis on innovation and creativity in museum sector as a leading force to
both inclusivity and growth;
need for digital strategies in museums
an experimental and independent think tank who is initiating discussion and
does it out loud, is right in time;
8. shift in museum concept from 'being about something' to 'being for somebody'
requires openness to the outside world and a strategic thinking regards
leadership, continuity and professionalisation
society is changing at an immense pace, museums will have to catch up with it!
10. how?
blog, video channel, talk sessions, discussions, workshops, teamworks, networks,
and drinking about museums
11. we are interested in things that can be achieved this way. we’d like to influence the
processes in museum sector
unofficially, and strictly among us, think tank is there to make life just more
interesting
