by implementing ITSM

Overview
An approach that IT organisations can use to quickly align with and deliver real
business value by grasping their IT services, creating cost transparency to the business
and establishing service strategies..
The approach is technology neutral, strongly based around ITIL and IT Service
Management concepts and historically has brought hard dollar savings and service
efficiencies to those that have used it.
Understanding the problem
What Services?
Can you clearly
articulate the IT
services that you
deliver?
Service Costs?
Can you detail the IT
spend for these
services?
Service Consumption?
Do you know how the
business consume these
services?
Proposed deliverables
Identify the portfolio of IT services
IT can communicate the services they provide to the business in business
terms and how the business consumes those services
Map the IT infrastructure to that
portfolio
IT can now relate the IT assets and infrastructure as a “bill of materials” for
each service
Develop the service cost models IT can now communicate the costs for each service
Assess the service delivery
capabilities
IT has a solid handle around what service delivery capabilities they have and
any significant gaps in those capabilities
Optimize IT service delivery and
costs
IT now has a strategy and business plan to optimize costs and improve
service quality that is aligned and presented in business terms
