1. Veritas Collaborative Expands its Adolescent
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for the
Treatment of Eating Disorders

The Veritas Collaborative Adolescent Program for eating disorders has expanded its
services for the partial hospitalization level of care. The diverse program, now in a new
unit within the existing facility, serves up to 12 patients with treatment six days a week.
With a focus on the goals and challenges of recovery, family skills and process groups are
held two evenings per week. This time gives family members a chance to join their
children in meals and in the recovery process.
Young people needing treatment for his or her eating disorder may either directly admit
into PHP or one of the higher levels of care (inpatient or acute residential) as
appropriate. Regardless of how an adolescent enters into treatment, Veritas Collaborative
provides patients and families with continuity of care: Throughout treatment patients
remain with the same treatment team.
PHP patients participate in a variety of groups, including Relapse Prevention,
Interpersonal Process, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Social Skills, Meal Planning, Meal
Processing, Art Therapy, Medical Education, and Culinary Skills. Patients are given more
opportunity to reintroduce healthy body movement into their lives, restaurant outings are
held during lunch once each week, and patients are also able to continue their academic
trajectories in the classroom with the Education Coordinator.
