To whom it may concern,
As an undergraduate student in Mechanical Engineering, I took a course called Aero-Thermal-Fluids Lab
from Professor Vahid Azadeh Ranjbar in the summer semester of 2015.
Aero-Thermal-Fluids Lab is a unique class in that it combines a great deal of theoretical material with
numerical methods, empirical observations, and data analysis.
The prerequisites for this course are Fluid Mechanics I, Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics I, Thermody-
namics II, and Numerical Methods.
As such, this course is more demanding of a teacher than the typical course is. Not only must a teacher
of this subject possess a firm grasp of each of these diverse subject areas, but they must also be able
to clearly communicate interconnected concepts in each of those areas to undergraduate students in a
lecture session and also a laboratory setting.
I found Professor Azadeh Ranjbar to be naturally skillful at this task, and an excellent choice for a
course of this nature. He was interested in the subject matter, interested in conveying it to students,
and in-touch with whether students were digesting the material or not. He was also able to rephrase and
re-explain difficult concepts if he saw that they were not being digested on the first pass.
I found him generally able to convey complex subject matter with clarity in a straightforward manner,
while also stimulating student interest in the subject.
My experience in Professor Azadeh Ranjbar’s class was excellent, and as a former student, I would
recommend him as a professor without reservation.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Douglas Gordon
