2. It was a big day for 24-year old
Israeli mountaineer Nadav Ben-
Yehuda.
He was just 300 meters away from the peak.
His dream of becoming the youngest
Israeli to conquer Mt. Everest was to
come true.
He had been preparing for this summit
since past 2 years.

Just then, he found a middle-aged climber ,
lying in the snow, gasping for breath.
He was floating between consciousness and un-
consciousness in a low oxygen zone of the
mountain.

Ben-Yehuda chose to save that man.
It took him nearly 8 hours to reach the
camp.
He tied the man to his harness and dragged him
down to Camp IV which was the nearest camp.

From there, others helped them descend further and
both of them were taken to a hospital in Kathmandu in
a helicopter.
In order to handle cables and anchors Ben-
Yehuda had to remove his gloves thus risking his
fingers to frostbite .

The man he saved was Aydin Irmak, a
46 year-old Turkish national.
When Ben-Yehuda was asked why he gave up his dream for
someone, that too a Turkish national, when Israel and Turkey
are warring nations, he replied..
