This presentation is about the transparent concrete which is used for the good appearance of the building .But the fiber which is used in this transparent concrete is very costly so this concrete is not for regular use. In this concrete the pre-cast mold is available in market is people can easily purchase this concrete pre-cast mold.

5. INTRODUCTION
๐ Transparent material means which can be seen from one part to another
part.
๐ Itisthe new technique different from normal concrete.translucent concrete
allow more light and less weight compared to normal concrete.
๐ It is uses can change our lives and the way of living passionately.
๐ Light transmissive property is ,mainly due to unifor, distribution of optical
fibersthroughout itsbody.
๐ It is available as prefabricated building blocks and panels.
๐ It is used in floors, pavements, ceiling,loa-bearing walls, partition walls etc.
6. LITERATURE REVIEW
RESEARCH PAPER 1: Transparent concrete as an eco-friendly material for building
The transparent concrete is proportional to transmission. The transparent
concrete does not loose the strength parameter when compared to regular concrete and also it
has very vital property for the aesthetical point of view.
RESEARCH PAPER 2: TRANSPARENT CONCRETE as a green material for building
Transparent concrete is a new type of concreting represent the concept of โGREEN
BUILDINGโ with self-sensing property of it.
RESEARCH PAPER 3: Analysis of Transparent Concrete as an Innovative Material Used in Civil
Engineering
transparent concrete has good light guiding property and the ratio of optical fibre
volume to concrete is proportionate to transmission of light. This kind of building material can
integrate the concept of green energy saving.
7. Optical fibers
๐ An optical fiberisa hairthin cylindrical fiber
or glassor any transparent dielectrics
medium.
๐ T
he fiberwhich are used foroptical
communication are wave guides made of
tyransparent dielectrics.
๐ Its function is to guide visible and infrared
light overlong distance.
8. o Core:-central tube of very thin size made up of
optical transparent dielectric medium and
carries the light from transmeter to
receiver. The core diameter can vary from
about 5um to 100um
o Cladding:-outeroptical material surrounding
the core having reflecting index lower than
core.it helps to keep the light within the core
throughout the phenomena of total internal
reflection.
o Buffer coating:- plastic coating the protects
the fiber made of silicon rubber.the typical
diameterof fiber after coating is250-300um.
9. WORKING PRI
NCIPLE
๐ When a ray of lighttravelsfrom a denser to a rarermedium such that
the angle of incidence isgreater than the critical angle , the ray
reflects back into the same medium this phenomena is called total
internal reflection.
๐ In the optical fiber the rays undergo repeated total number of
reflection until it emerges out of the other end of the fiber , even if
the fiberisbent.
10. MATERIALS USED FOR
TRANSPARENTCONCRETE
๐ T
he two basic materialsused for making
transparent concrete
โข Sand
โข cement
โข Optical fibers
๐ Optical fibers:-there are 3 kinds
โข Multimode graded-index fiber
โข Multimode step-index fibre
โข Single-mode step-index fibers.
11. PRINCIPLE
๐ Transparent concrete works Based on โNano-Opticalโ.
๐ These fibers passes as much light when tiny slits are placed directly on top of
each other. Hence optical fibers in the concrete act like the slits and carry
the light acrossthroughout the concrete.
12. ADVANTAGE OF TRANSPARENT
CONCRETE:-
๐ May be construction material which allows to build several meter high
wallswith light transmitting
๐ reduction of energy due to the penetration of daily light into the object.
๐ The main advantage of these products is that on large scale objects the
texture isstill visible -while the texture of finer translucent concrete
becomesindistinct at distance.
๐ When a solid wall is imbued with the ability to transmit light, it means that
a home can use fewer lights in their house during daylight hours.
๐ It has very good architectural properties for giving good aesthetical view
to the building.
๐ Where light isnot able to come properly at that place transparent
concrete can be used.
13. DISADVANTAGE OF
TRANSPARENT CONCRETE
๐ Casting of translucent concrete block is difficult for the labour so
special skilled person isrequired.
๐ Costing of this material is difficult as the techniques are just start to
develop.
๐ Itisprecision material and the correct procedure need to be
followed.
๐ It is extremely important to ensure the integrity of optic strands if they
break within the product property would almost be neglected.
๐ The main disadvantage is these concrete is very costly because of
the optical fibers.
๐ Casting of transparent concrete block is difficult for the labour so
special skilled person isrequired
14. PROPERTIES OF
TRANSPARENT CONCRETE
o The properties of light transmitting concrete are determined by conducting various
experiments like
โข compressive strength test
โข flexural strength
โข water absorption test
โข split cylinder test.
o Variation in compressive strength, flexural strength and tensile strength is observed in the
presence of finely ground waste glass crystals.
o Compressive strength will be increases at 5% replacement of waste glass at 45.38 N/mm2
at 28 days.
o Split tensile value will be maximum at 10% replacement of waste glass at 6.88 N/mm2 at
28 days.
o From observed results both compressive & split tensile tests attain maximum strength at
Waste glass replacement compared to conventional concrete.
o Percentage of water absorption will be minimum at 10% replacement of fine aggregate
compared other ratios.
16. CONCLUSION
๏ A novel architecture material called tansparent concrete can be developed by adding
optical fiber or large diameter glass fiber in the concrete mixture.
๏ The transaparent concrete has good light guiding property and the ratio of optical
fiber volume to concrete is proportion to transmission.
๏ The transparent concrete not looses the strength parameter when compard to regular
and also it has very vital property for the aesthetical point of view.
๏ It can be used for the best architectural appearance of the building. Also used where
the light cannot reach with appropriate intensity.
๏ This new kind of building material can integrated the concept of green energy saving
with usage self-sensing properties of functional materials.
