The heartwood red- brown is used in a wide range of
applications including interior and exterior panelling, joinery,
furniture, cabinetwork, carpentry, flooring, stairs, ship building,
boxes and crates, veneer, and plywood, particleboard
manufacture, sash and mill work, and boat planking and
decking.
Red lauan is a valuable export as sawn timber.The bark is suitable source of tannin extract.
In terms of medicine, it is reported that S.
negrosensis wood extractives are tumour-
inhibiting.
