o - Maximum assessment time : 180 days - Now, if the university does not
comply with the manager of the sector can be sued administratively
(processo administrativo);
o - Simplified validation for courses which had their diplomas approved in the
past 10 years : 90 days and basic documentation
o - The person can not apply for more than one university simultaneously;
o - In case the application is refused, the person can apply only one more time
at another university;
o - The application can be approved partially, that is, the diploma will not be
validated but they will be able to use credits from the modules the Brazilian
university approved from the foreign degree.
6. Certification is confirmation that a photocopy is a true copy of an original
document.
Verification is the process of ensuring that original documents are genuine.
Legalisation is the official confirmation that a signature, seal or stamp on a
public document is genuine. The Legalisation Department of the Foreign
and Commonwealth Office (FCO) is the authority that issues apostille
stamps for holders of UK degrees who seek recognition of their awards in
their country of residence. Before sending your document to the
Legalisation Department of the FCO you will need to have the original
verified first.

1. While in UK take your diploma to a local /high street sollicitor
or attorney to have it signed and stamped (notarised)
2. Send it to the legalisation office based in Milton Keynes –
information available on the FCO website

private universities may also.
2. You need to locate a university with a similar course/ Department;
3. Or a university with a similar line of research;
TIP Make contact with professors or people who have validated the
same MsC/ MA there to understand if that option matches the UK
course.

undergoes an administrative check
2. Make sure documents requested by university regulation
are included in the process ;
3. If documents requested by the Brazilian university do no
have a similar version in the UK be prepared to provide
another document or declaration from the university
4. Ensure translation of UK documents and dissertation if
required by Brazilian institution;

with the panel:
1.1 Equivalency of courses with different names;
1.2 Duration of 1 year only
1.3 Length of the dissertation;
1.4 Lack of verbal defense.
