2. WHAT IS CORTANA?
Cortana is Windows 10 personally assistant. You would want to disable
Cortana if you don’t like looking up things from the web in your search bar. Cortana
can remember what you looked up and use it for later advertising uses.
3. THINGS YOU’LL NEED
You’re going to need a computer running Windows 10 and administrative access on
your computer.
4. OPEN THE RUN COMMAND
The first step is to right click your home button and click the run button.
5. GET TO REGEDIT
Next you’re going to want to type in Regedit. This will bring up an administrative
access permission, click yes or type in you’re password if it asks.
6. NAVIGATE THE REGISTRY
Once you’re in the registry you are going to want to click on the drop arrow next to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and then Software.
7. NAVIGATE TO MICROSOFT
Next you’re going to want to click the drop arrow next to Policies and then Microsoft.
Once in Microsoft click the drop arrow next to Windows
8. CREATE A NEW FOLDER
Once your in windows you’re going to want to right click on the Windows folder and
hit New and then Key. You’re going to want to name this folder Windows Search. This
is case sensitive.
9. CREATE A NEW DWORD
Once you’ve created the new folder right click on the windows search folder and click
new and then DWORD 32. You’re going to want to name this new value AllowCortana.
This is also case sensitive.
10. CHANGE THE VALUE
Once you type in AllowCortana right click the DWORD and click modify. Be sure that it
is set to 0 and click ok.
11. RESTART
Once you’re done with changing the value restart your computer to make the update
the change.
