2. Accounting
Let Central Piedmont Community
College be your gateway to
accounting.
The Accounting curriculum is designed to
provide you with the knowledge and skills
necessary for employment and growth in the
accounting profession. Using the “language
of business” and technology resources,
accountants assemble, analyze, process and
communicate information about financial
operations.
Our qualified instructors will teach you
important accounting principles, theories
and practices, such as business law, finance
and economics. After building a strong
foundation in these basic skill areas, class
time focuses on the areas of financial analysis,
communications, computer applications, critical
thinking and ethics.
You will be prepared for entry-level accounting
positions with a number of organizations,
including accounting firms, small businesses,
manufacturing firms, banks, hospitals, school
systems and governmental agencies. If you
have additional work experience or education,
you may also qualify for advancement within
the profession.
Degree and Certificate Offerings
We offer a two-year Associate in Applied
Science Degree in Accounting (A25100) as
well as diploma or certificate programs in the
following areas:
• Accounting Diploma (D25100-D1)
• Certificate in Accounting (C25100-C1)
• Certificate in Tax (C25100-C2)
Our instructors earned advanced degrees
in their areas of expertise; have relevant,
professional experience; and provide the
personal attention you need to succeed.
Not only do our courses meet the 30-hour
requirement for the CPA Exam, but they are
also affordable and flexible. In fact, we offer
classes on different campuses; during the day,
in the evenings and on weekends; and both
online and in-person. This flexibility enables us
to meet the many needs of our diverse student
population. As an added benefit, we have
articulation agreements with local four-year
colleges and universities. These give you the
opportunity to transfer your academic credits
and have them applied to a bachelor’s degree
program.
“CPCC’s associate degree in Accounting
prepared me for the workplace. I chose
CPCC because of its affordability and
