CYBER CAFÉS IN THE RURAL AREAS OF BANGLADESH
Nowadays internet has become one of the must needs for peoples of all classes. Internet is very
commonly used in all over Bangladesh, but the peoples in the rural areas are deprived from this
opportunity. We want to start a cyber café business in the rural areas of Bangladesh. It will help the
peoples of those rural areas to get in touch with internet and we can start a new business from there.
Individualsof all agesandbackgroundswill find the cybercafé appealing. The staffs of the Café provide
not only top quality service but also helpful instructions to customers in computer usage. This
educational aspectwill attract elderly customers and youngsters who do not own computers at home.
The easy access location also provides residents in the same area convenience to their gourmet and
online needs.

Name and logo of the company: CyberspotInternetcafé.
Location of the company: We’ve selected the rural areas of Bangladesh for our business. So at first
our locationwill be Nannar.LocatedinDhamrai,Dhaka. A site hasbeenchosenforbusinessinthatarea.
While selecting the location, we’ve considered these options:
1. Nearness to the close-by residents
2. Good location, where people from all areas can get access
3. Good area, where roads are clean and the environment is good
4. High visibility
Our services:
The Internethasbecome a pointof conversationinalmostall social groups.People are talkingabout
sitestheyvisited,businesspeople are talkingaboutInternet-basedbusinesses,andkidsare talking
aboutthe latestInternetclubsandchatrooms.People like tocommunicate theirInternetexperiences
withtheirfriends,colleagues, andfamily. CyberspotCafé will provide agoodenvironmentforthat.
We’ll provide:
 A meetingplace forbusinesspeople interestedinsharingtheirInternet-basedbusinessideas.
 A social hubfor studentsandyoungpeople interestedinsharingabeverage andtheirInternet
experienceswithfriends.

The Café will provide itscustomer’saccesstothe Internetandcommon Computersoftware and
hardware.Some of the Internetandcomputingservicesavailable to Café’scustomersare listedbelow:

 Typing and mail composing
 Photo/Video editing
 Printing, scanning, fax
As CybersportCybercafé growsitspopularity,more communicationssystemswillbe added.Asthe
demandforinternetconnectivityincreasesalongwiththe increase incompetition,the café willcontinue
to add newservicestokeepitscustomerbase comingbackformore.
Source of fund: There are 5 membersforthisbusinessplan.Eachmemberwill investthe same amount
of capital forthe business.The profitsandthe losseswill be sharedequally.
Budget:Café’sstart-upcostswill coverrenovation,furniture, computers,machinesanddecorating
equipment’sandrunningcapital tocoverexpensesinthe firstyear.
The equipmentprovidedtothe Café’scustomerswithhigh-speedconnectiontothe Internetformsa
large portionof the start-upcosts. These costswill includecomputers,printersandascanners.The café
the shopwill alsorequire fundsforrenovationandmodification.

Fixtures/Renovation - = 1, 00,000
Furniture and decorations - = 2, 00,000

cafésinthe area,it isimportantthat we setfairprice for our services.We will use advertisingasitsmain
source of promotion.AdsplacedinThe RegisterGuard, Weekly’s,dailies will helpbuildcustomer
awareness.Accompanyingthe adwill be acouponfor a free hourof Internettravel.Furthermore,we
will give awaythree free hoursof Internetuse tobeginnerswhosignupforan introductiontothe
Internetworkshopprovidedbythe café.
Pricing Strategy: Determiningafairpricingstrategyforthe café will verydifficult.Becausethere will
be no cybercafésin that area we have to thinksomethingfairandprofitable. CyberspotCyberCafé has
to base itspricingfor internetservices.Thereforewe willsetourprice to 40tk/hr.for regularinternet
using.
Promotion Strategy:
CyberspotCyberCafé will spendBDT1, 00,000 in itsfirstyearfor promotional efforts,tobuildabrand
and regularcustomerbase.Marketingeffortswill be focusedonthe local market.Promotional efforts
will include advertisinginlocal newspapers,banners,postersandetc.Here are few specificpromotion
efforts:

 Printmaterials
Service procedure: Asthe popularityof the Internetcontinuestogrow at an exponential rate,easy
and affordable accesstothe informationsuperhighwayisquicklybecominganecessityof life. Cyberspot
Cafe providesthe local communitywiththe abilitytoaccessthe Internet, andshare Internet
experiencesinacomfortable environment.People of all agesandbackgroundswill come toenjoythe
unique,upscale,educational,andinnovative environmentthat CyberspotCafé provides.
Target Marketing: We’veselectedstudents,jobholders,jobseekers,businessmenandpeople whose

Recruiting: We will recruit 8 people with good general computer skills. The minimum
requirement for this job will be, H.S.C passed, good language skills and good behavior.
Selection: Aftergettingnew recruits we will trytochoose the bestonesfromthe candidates.Forthis
firstof all we’ll interview the candidate.If he’spassedwe’ll have aselectiontest.ForEx:How goodhe
knowscomputers,Internetbrowsingskills,mail composing,MSword/excel skillshisconfidence andetc.
Training and development: Aftergettinghired,the new employeesgetbasictraining oncomputer,
internetbrowsingandmailing andoncustomerservice skills.
The staff will consistof five part-time workingemployees,includingone technician (whoismore
technologicallyorientedtohandle minorterminalrepairs/inquiries).
Conclusion: By followingthe businessplan, we cansaythat because there are no cybercafésinour
selectedarea,we canmake good profitout of it. Andbecause there isa low chance of getting
competitorsthere,ourbusinesswillbe verysuccessful andpopularinthe area.
