 The 19th of March 2013 was an auspicious day on the Impumelelo project. The first section of the
Waterfall Bridge was lifted into its final position. It weighed 35 tons and was 36.16m in length. The
bridge deck, consisting of five structural steel spans, is being prefabricated on the ground alongside

3. and then lifted into place with a 550 ton heavy-duty crane by Vanhattan Rigging. The conveyor (which
transports coal) links the Impumelelo Mine to Sasol Secunda, some 27km away.
