The client is India's largest manufacturer and supplier of rubber chemicals.
They are part of a well known business house in India with diversified business
interests. The company offers a range of rubber chemicals such as rubber anti-
degradant, rubber antioxidant, rubber accelerator and rubber pre-
vulcanization inhibitor. The client has several manufacturing plants and use
state-of-thearttechnologyformanufacturing.
The products manufactured by the company are used by the tyre industry and
all other segments of rubber-processing industry. These chemicals not only
accelerate the vulcanization of rubber, but also extend the life of rubber
productsinadditiontoimprovingtheirperformance.

The client had a fragmented IT landscape
consistingofdisparatesystemsleadingtono
real-time integration with other IT systems.
As the client is pursuing its expansion plans,
they decided to optimize IT infrastructure
and migrate the applications and its users to
thelatesttechnologies.Theobjectivewasto
improve business processes, reduce costs
and optimize back-end operations which
were critical to their dynamic business
growth.
The client had been working on the legacy
system for quite some time and any change
in the business solution landscape was
expected to pose major change manage-
ment challenge for the organization. This

new solution that would complement their
legacy ERP, would also help them in

order to reap maximum benefits with
optimum utilization of resources and time,
HCL Infosystems along with the client took a
mutual decision to divide the project into
twophases–
Phase - I: Implementation of Core ERP
Application (SAP ECC 6.0 with Enhance-
mentPack5)
Phase - II: Implementation of SAP Busin-
nessObjectsforReporting
SAP's chemical industry best practices
were used along with the core modules
such as Finance, Costing, Materials
Management, Sales & Distribution, Produ-
ctionPlanning,QualityManagement,Plant
Maintenance, Project Systems & Business
Workflows. The SAP solution was extended
to client's depots and interfaced with
consignment agents system to enable
capturingofagentsalesperiodically.
Phase - I of the project went live on April 1,
2012. HCL took 28 weeks for the total
implementation to cover 8 modules. All
resources for the project catalyst were not
exclusive; instead they were made to
handle SAP besides routine business
operations.
