It is with great pleasure that I write in recommendation of Ta Ngoc Thuy Trang. Over the past year, I
have worked with Trang extensively, both as a student, as well as a student leader. Trang excelled in
the classes in which she was enrolled with me, Human Geography and Video Production, but also in the
homeroom time. In addition to efforts academically, Trang was elected and served as the Student
Body President for the International School of Ho Chi Minh City: American Academy, of which I act as
the faculty advisor. For the many reasons that I will expand below, it is without hesitation that I
attach a full recommendation of Trang into your program.
Trang is a great student, and she was sure to turn every assignment reflecting her best efforts. She is
always quick to help others in her immediate area to better understand the subject material, and Trang
is looked to as the academic leader of the class. In addition to her efforts in the social studies and
technology classes, Trang was the person that I turned to ensure that tasks for the senior students
were conveyed quickly and accurately through the homeroom time. Trang finished her high school
academic career ranked third in the class, which came down to only hundredths of grade point average
points.
Leadership and community involvement is where Trang truly sets herself above and beyond her peers.
Trang worked extensively to bring social events to the students of the American Academy, and
represented the needs of the students to the administration of the school. Trang excelled in bringing
the perspectives of several different viewpoints to one vision in her time with the student council, and
helped to promote a leadership style that was respected by the group around her. In addition to the
previously mentioned role of Student Body President, Trang was an officer in the Global Issues
Network, a group that promotes bringing social change to groups in need.
In addition to all that Trang brings to your program, she is deeply interested in design and
photography. During her senior year, she organized a photography contest, and entered several
fantastic images of her own. Her knowledge of graphics, coinciding with her desire to excel
academically, demonstrates the spectrum of Trang’s abilities and talents.
