Dear Employment Prospect:
I am writing this letter of recommendation regarding my former student
Tracy Fiorenza. She completed my Biological Bases of Behavior and
Psychopathology courses at Roosevelt University. The former
consisted of extensive lectures on neuroanatomy, neurophysiology,
and how these subjects relate to numerous clinical conditions. The
latter consisted of extensive lectures on current conceptualizations of
child, adolescent, and adult psychopathology, including extensive
examination, including the limitations of the Diagnostic and Statistical
Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).
On an interpersonal level, Ms. Fiorenza is friendly, outgoing, engaging,
and has a good sense of humor. She is open and forthright and is
always open to constructive criticism and feedback. She frequently
met with me after class, on her own time, to ask more subtle questions
showing a passion for knowledge and understanding. Her performance
in my challenging and demanding classes was impeccable. She is a
pleasure to be around and extremely easy to work with.
I believe Ms. Fiorenza’s education and training in counseling offers
unique expertise that would mesh extremely well with the needs of an
instructor at your site. Clearly her deep understanding of child and
adolescent psychopathology would be very helpful in Ms. Fiorenza’s
dealing with youth who have struggled with various mental health
issues. Through completion of a counseling practicum (i.e., clinical
training), she has demonstrated that ability to be highly effective in a
professional setting as well as deal with individuals whose needs differ
from traditional students. Additionally, her background in education
also clearly prepares her very well for an instructor position at you site.
In sum, Mrs. Fiorenza is an intelligent, highly motivated woman who
demonstrated the ability to be an effective, accomplished professional.
Her unique background in education and counseling provides her with
a wide knowledge base that would mesh extremely well with your site’s
