From Sport to Street – Northampton Museum

and the sneakers riding high on a crest of fashion.

rare, limited edition, vintage, celebrity signed, artists collaborated sneakers and a
collection of sneaker inspired artwork, fashion and photography. The tour also features
2. live street art installations, live skateboarding demonstrations, street basketball
competitions and live hip-hop and rock performances by some of the world's foremost
recording artists

Dubai

Title: Undecided
This year’s Javari exhibition considers the position of the trainer in popular culture. The
fashion exhibition will celebrate the sophisticated and sensational design of the modern
day sneaker. It will outline the shoes’ continuity whilst also highlighting its design
changes, from being worn merely for sport, to becoming a definitive aspect of someone’s
style & an art object in itself. The display and celebration of the history of trainer design
enables visitors to consider how and why high fashion has recently chosen to appropriate
a shoe that initially only represented sport, comfort and urban lifestyle.
3. *** The exhibition will highlight ways in which trainer design is related to fashion e.g the
Jordan that was banned from basketball because it was red, the Nike Blazer’s big belly
swoosh, Pony’s early colour combos and most recently the current wedged trainers.
