  1. 1. SecurityDriver.Com Vehicle Survey Introduction The following are the results of a survey sent to Secure Transportation practitioners via email. The survey was also posted on Social Media networks, but the response was minimal. Practitioners who participated in the survey represent the Corporate, High Net Worth, and Private Security communities. Their varied job titles included Director of Security, to EP Managers, Security Drivers and EP Specialist. This survey is a reflection of those with a substantial amount of experience in the Secure Transportation Industry. The average years of experience of those that participated in the survey is 14.9 years. Throughout the survey the Groups will be referred to by: • • • Corporate (Corp) High Net Worth (HNW) Private Security (PS) Vehicles are classified by: • • Type (Sedan/SUV/Armored) Manufacturers/Model (Audi, Mercedes) The survey examines the Types (Sedan/SUV/Armored), and Manufacturers/Model Vehicles ( i.e. Suburban/Audi/Mercedes) used by the various groups (Corp, HNW, and PS). There is a small variance in the Manufacturers Models: • Lexus was a combination of the LS 600L and the LS 460. • Audi was a combination of the Audi A8L and the A8l - W12. • Cadillac was represented by the older DTS and the newer XTS. • Mercedes Benz was all various models of the S Class. • BMW were all the 750 Series. • Lincoln vehicles were spread over older Town Cars and a few of the newer MKS. 2. 2. THE NUMBERS The Type of vehicle used by all the participants from all groups is split evenly between SUV and Sedans - 50/50. The piece of data that was not expected is that 15.5% of all vehicles driven by the participants are armored. And of that 15%, 33% drive an Armored Suburban. The other type of armored vehicles are scattered among many different manufacturers. All Vehicle Types When combining all vehicles types used by all Groups (Corp, HNW, and PS), the most used vehicle is a Suburban followed by a Mercedes. SecurityDriver.Com Vehicle Survey. © 2013 2
  3. 3. SUVs Only - All Groups Looking at SUV’s used by all Groups (Corp, HNW, and PS), the highest percentage of use is the Suburban. In fact the data indicates that the Suburban dominates the SUV field. More Suburban’s are used than the next two vehicles combined. SecurityDriver.Com Vehicle Survey. © 2013 3
  4. 4. Sedans Only - All Groups Looking at Sedans only used by all Groups (Corp, HNW, and PS), the highest percentage of use of Sedans is the Mercedes Benz, but unlike the SUV category the Mercedes does not dominate the numbers. The top three vehicles are foreign manufacturers. The high use of foreign vehicles in these Groups is something that you would not see as little as 10 years ago. CORPORATE GROUP The Type of vehicles used by the Corporate Group The corporations are still using more Sedans than SUV’s but SUV’s are catching up. The Suburban is the top vehicle but the combination of Lexus, Audi and Cadillac make the Sedan the number one choice for Corporations. SecurityDriver.Com Vehicle Survey. © 2013 4
  5. 5. When combining all vehicles types (below) used by the Corporate Group - The most used vehicle is a Suburban but the combination of Sedans equal 81%, making Sedans the overall choice for the Corporation Group. Note: The sum of the percentage is more than 100 % because some participants drive more than one vehicle. Top Sedan Model in Corporate Group The top two sedan models driven by Corporate Group are foreign manufacturers. In fact, the data indicates that 64% of all the vehicles used by the Corporate Group are foreign vehicles. SecurityDriver.Com Vehicle Survey. © 2013 5
  6. 6. Top SUV Model in Corporate Group The top SUV used by all the Corporate Group is the Suburban by a significant margin. HIGH NET WORTH GROUP Top Vehicle Type in High Net Worth Group SUV’s are the top vehicle type choice used by the High Net Worth Group. Interesting to note the significant 15% use of armored vehicles.
