4. Psychopathic Horror
The fast paced change in
shots creates the feeling of
panic, playing with the
viewer's psyche.
The lack of censorship
causes the viewer to become
uncomfortable, and on edge
during, and even after the
scene has finished.
7. Setting
The Lighting
Changes from light to dark as
the characters enter the
building
Location
The abandoned asylum, showing the
lack of life as a warning.
Setting
Foreshadowing the rest of the
season, dark, isolated, etc.
9. Shots
Using a lot of close shots,
panning and zooming, whilst
the actor uses slow robotic
like movements.
A lot of focus on activity,
to perceive it as being
sinister/something more than
what we see it as.
11. Narrative
Background narrative
throughout, showing emphasis
on important
objects/characters within
the story line.
The narrative portrays
innocence whilst the shot
itself shows a dark side or
vice-versa.
Question the audience. The fast pace can perhaps indicate how quickly the actors lives could end.The fast pace can also make the audience feel uneasy and uncomfortable as it doesn’t give them enough time to stop and think about what is happening and what someone can actually do to help themselves in these grim situations.
