Established in Buffalo, New York, as the Manufacturers’ and Traders’ Bank in 1856, the M&T Bank
Corporation has grown to be among the largest 20 commercial bank holding corpanies headquartered in the
United States. It maintains more than 700 branches throughout its region, which includes New York, New
Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, and Florida, as well as Washington, D.C
and Toronto, Canada. Each of these branches reflects the firm’s philosophy of prudent, consistent, and
conservative management, administration, and investment.
M&T Bank provides a broad range of banking services to individuals and businesses, including most types of
savings and checking accounts, certificates of deposit (CDs), credit and debit cards, and health savings
accounts. In addition to credit cards, other forms of credit are available, most prominently mortgage and
education loans. M&T Bank also provides investing and insurance products for its clients, as well as financial
and retirement planning. Services available to businesses include payroll, employee benefits, insurance,
accounts payable and receivable, and investments, as well as lines of credit.
Although it is a well-regarded regional institution, M&T Bank operates as a community bank, and its branches
are heavily involved with and invested in the communities where they do business. Between charitable
contributions to individual organizations and the time volunteered by staff and officers, the M&T Bank is an
integral component of communities in the eastern U.S. and Canada.
