1. Dr. Titus Tunje Kadere was born in 1962, at Mwele Village, Chasimba
Location, Kilifi South Sub-County, Kilifi County. He is a Father, Scholar, a Researcher, an
Administrator, a Consultant and a Leader.
Education
Dr. Titus Tunje Kadere attended Chasimba Primary School from 1970 to 1976 then St. Georges High
School Giriama from 1977 to 1980. He then proceeded to Kabaa High School for his A-Level from
1981-1982, before joining the then Jomo Kenyatta College of Agriculture and Technology (now
Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology) where he did Diploma in Food Science
and Technology (Food Processing). Dr. Titus Tunje Kadere has a Masters Degree in Chemical
Engineering from Belorussian State University of Technology, Minsk and a Doctor of Philosophy
Degree (PhD) in Food Science and Technology from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and
Technology (JKUAT), Kenya.
Dr. Titus Kadere is a Research Fellow of Matsumae Foundation. He holds a certificate on Strategic
Leadership Development Programme Course (SLDP 44/2011), from Kenya School of Government.
In addition, Dr. Kadere has several certificates on Corporate Governance. Other certificates include:
Quality Standards and Regulations for SMEs, Proposal and Report Writing Course for Scientists,
Induction Courses on Education Management for School Boards/PTAs and Training on Performance
Contracting for State Corporations.
Research
His main areas of research are on cassava and coconut. On cassava a lot of his research work was on
characterization of new varieties according to different end uses. On coconut he has done research on
isolation, identification and application of useful microorganism from coconut wine (mnazi), in
addition to processing and preservation of mnazi. He has also conducted surveys on production and
productivity of coconut in the coastal region.
Career
Dr. Titus Tunje Kadere has 30 years experience in the education sector, where he started as a Biology
and Agriculture Teacher at Likoni Secondary School. Thereafter, he taught briefly at Mombasa
Polytechnic before joining Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology as an Assistant
Lecturer in 1995, after which he rose to his current level of Senior Lecturer at the Technical
University of Mombasa. He has served as the Editor of CAPA Scientific Journal for Common Wealth
Association of Technical Universities and Polytechnics in Africa and Proceedings of CAPA
International Conferences for over six year.

2. Leadership
On leadership, Dr. Titus Tunje Kadere served as the Registrar Academic Affairs, Technical
University of Mombasa (2010 to 2015). He is the current Chairman of Kenya Institute of Food
Science and Technology (KIFST) and also the Chairman of Chasimba High School Board of
Management. In addition, Dr. Kadere is the current Chairman of Chonyi Professionals. He also
served as the first and last Chairperson of the disbanded Kenya Coconut development Authority
(KCDA). Other organizations he has served include: Chairman and Treasurer of Baraka Primary
School in Nairobi, Treasurer and BOM Member of Utawala Academy in Nairobi, BOM Member of
Lutsangani High School in Kilifi South, and BOM Member Dzitsoni Secondary School in Kilifi
South.
Consultancy
Dr. Titus Tunje Kadere is the current Consultant and Technical Advisor to Mr. Desai Schreekesh and
Ted Scheffers on feasibility study and setting up of multipurpose coconut processing plant(s) at the
coastal region of Kenya at a tune of 30 million United States Dollars. He also served as a consultant
(National and Regional Resource Person) for Association for Strengthening Agricultural Research in
East and Central Africa (ASARECA) and Policy Analysis and Advocacy Programme (PAAP), where
he was the lead Consultant on Development and Harmonization of Quality Standards and Policies for
Cassava and Potato Products in East and Central Africa (ECA) region. In addition, Dr. Kadere served
as a Resource Person Consultant with AICAD/JICA on Value Addition Programme for Small and
Medium Enterprises from 2005 to 2013. Finally, Dr. Kadere served as a Technical Consultant on a
JKUAT/ Kenya Gatsby Trust (KGT) Project on Innovations and Technology Transfer to SMEs,
Impacting Appropriate Skills to SMEs through Students’ Attachment.
