2. Client: Mind
Mind is a mental health charity and non-profit organisation that aims to make
society happier as a whole and provides counselling services, advice and support
and other activities to encourage positive changes to people’s lives. It was
founded in 1946 as the ‘National Association for Mental Health’ and aims to help
people on how to deal with their own mental health asw3ell as the people
around them and how they can help each other.
Their purpose is to help people specifically with mental health problems and to
provide support for them. They campaign so that more people are aware of what
they do and understand more about the organisation so that they will donate and
help fund the campaign, so that mind can help more people.
3. Target Audience
The target audience for this campaign is people of my own community, meaning
people specifically from my area and mainly of my age range (from around 15 to 20
year olds), however the campaign is open to everyone meaning that even though
this is are target audience, it isn’t strictly confined and everyone can be able to
enjoy the Smile campaign.
It is easier to have a target audience of my age range due to the fact that as a
teenager, I understand them more and therefore it will be easier for me to put a
smile on their face, in comparison to other age ranges that I don’t know that much
about.
4. Campaign Purpose
The Smile Project has been created to encourage people to smile and spread
happiness. A study has shown that the act of smiling can help people to deal with
stressful situations more easily and eases stress levels.
This campaign is supposed to encourage those who experience stress or a low-
mood to smile and spread a more positive energy. This is shown by the title of the
campaign, “Smile”, and the purpose of the Mind organisation, as their purpose is to
support people when feeling low or with any mental health issues.
5. Mental Health
In the UK, it is said that one in four adults and one in ten children will experience a
mental health problem each year, showing that anyone can be effected by mental
health issues and this needs to be helped.
Mind wants to help those people and give them a better life, as well as educating
others about mental health and how they can help those who are struggling
around them.
Mental health was once quite a taboo subject and is now being talked about more
freely in our society, meaning that it is now easier than ever before to speak about
your feelings and get support, and Mind helps people to do this.

Since I will be creating a mental health podcast, I decided to research some other
podcasts aimed at mental health and found several on the mind website. These podcasts
were between two people where one interviewed the other and asked them questions
in a conversational way about their experiences with mental health and how they coped
with it.
