2. 1899 Thwing Instrument Company founded by Dr. Charles Thwing, a pioneer
in the field of physical testing instrumentation.
1918 Edward J. Albert joined the Thwing Instrument Company.
1935 Mr. Albert was made partner and the Thwing-Albert Instrument
Company was formed.
1946 Mr. Albert took over as the successor to Dr. Thwing and ran the
company until 1975 when his Daughter, Annette Albert Albeck, was
named President.
3. Dr. Charles Thwing’s career began with research on different stages of early
development for the electric light and the formulation of Thwing Law on capacity.
Dr. Thwing was an author of several technical books and was involved with several
scientific publications.
He received his masters in 1890 and moved to Germany where the German
University of Bohn honored him with a doctorate in physics.
In 1899, Dr. Thwing established Thwing Instrument Company.
4. Edward J. Albert joined the sales department of Thwing Instrument Company in 1918.
In 1935, Dr. Thwing made him partner and changed the company name to Thwing-
Albert Instrument Company.
Mr. Albert was very active in many associations including National TAPPI and ASTM.
Mr. Albert was a founder, charter member and Chairman of the Delaware Valley
Section of TAPPI which honored his contributions by establishing a yearly Edward J.
Albert Award in 1952.
He became successor to Dr. Thwing in 1946 and served as chairman of the board
until 1975 when his daughter, Annette Albert Albeck assumed the role of President.
Annette Albert Albeck joined the company in the 1960’s and was president from 1975
until her passing in 1998.
5. 1992 4th
generation of the Albert family, Mr. Scott Raab was named General
Manager maintaining daily operations of the company.
1998 Annette’s son-in-law, Mr. Joseph Raab, was named president.
1999 Thwing-Albert Celebrated it’s 100th
Year Anniversary.
2005 Relocated to new corporate headquarters in West Berlin, New Jersey.
2015 Mr. Scott Raab was named President.
2015 Thwing-Albert is working to carry the success into the future by making
investments in new technology and software and continuous education.
Thwing-Albert is still active on the board for standards development for
TAPPI and ASTM.
6. Thwing-Albert commits to continually improve products, service,
processes, methods and work environment to ensure that each
customer receives consistently high-quality products and services
on time.

7. Thwing-Albert received ISO 9001certification in 1995.
Compliance to ISO 9001:2000 was certified in 2003.
Today we are ISO 9001:2008 which ensures adherence to a strict
set of standards encompassing all aspects of a management system
involved in the design and development, manufacturing, installation
and servicing of products or services.
8. Thwing-Albert is now accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2005
Our scope of calibration covers mechanical, dimensional, mass,
force, weighing devices and time and frequency instruments.
