Job
Description
I. Process/materials
management
A. Create
and
distribute
project
materials
1.
Example:
lesson
authoring
templates
2. Continually
brainstorm
new
materials/methods
that
will
help
advance
project
development
(a) Gaps
in
understanding
on
my
part
or
coming
in
from
team?
(Communicate
with
[supervisor]
to
clarify
product
vision).
Does
team
have
everything
they
need
to
do
a
good
job?
Can
I
predict
and
preclude
problems
that
may
arise
in
the
development
process?
B. Facilitate
workflows
1. Ensure
materials
are
passed
between
team
members
2. Communication
(a) Reactive:
Availability
and
timely
responses
(b) Proactive:
e.g.
“mother
goose”-‐style
check-‐ins
with
team
members
C. Maintain
materials
1. Keep
statuses
updated
on
[database]1
2. Keep
files
organized
on
[cloud
drive]2
3. Keep
backup
of
files
II. Content
creation3
A. Image
research/acquisition
1. Goal:
obtain
images
for
vocabulary
terms
2. Task
approach
taken
(a) Meet
with
[contact]
and
read
through:
(i) RS
document
(ii) Clark,
Ruth

and
Chopeta
C.

(b) Always
check

for
a
photo
before
purchasing
from
[retailer]
(c) Store
[retailer]
images
in
folders
by
lesson
(d) Use
vocabulary
term
definitions
to
guide
photo
selection
(i) When
vocabulary
term/definition
unfamiliar/unclear
or
image
hard
to
find,
research
term
to
thoroughly
understand
(and
propose
edits
to
flashcard
where
needed)
and
to
find
alternative
key
words
for
photo
searching
1
I
kept
separate
[cloud]
task
lists
of
some
lesson
components
and
overall
lesson
development
statuses
for
easier
accessibility
2
Also,
because
materials
(e.g.
authoring
templates)
were
usually
not
uploaded
directly
to
[cloud
drive]
by
their
creators/contributors
but
instead
passed
through
email,
keeping
my
inbox
highly
organized
was
key
(e.g.
for
locating
.doc
versions)
3
Opportunities
to
work
more
intimately
with
content
may
have
been
more
abundant
in
this
project
given
my
background.
4
Utilized
[contact]
whenever
I
had
questions
or
issues
with
these
systems
2.
(ii) Make
sure
that
a
given
photo
is
actually
of
the
intended
vocabulary
term/definition.
Read
captions/descriptions
of
photos
carefully
and
research
as
needed
before
purchasing/downloading5
(e) Crop
photos
to
[size]
and
update
description/IPTC

to
the
vocabulary
term
associated
with
image6
(f) Save
original
and
edited
versions7
(g) Upload
to
[proprietary]
editor
B. Vocabulary
list
1. Goal:
“create
a
database
of
vocabulary
commonly
used
in
medical
settings
and
cross-‐reference
those
words
to
the
practice(s)
they
are
most
associated
with”
(3/25/14)
2. Task
approach
taken:
Utilize
resources
(some
handed
to
me
at
outset,
others
I
drew
heavily
on
were
Wordreference
forums
and
the
Ultralingua
Spanish-‐English
Medical
dictionary)
to:
(a) Compile
a
list
of
common
patient-‐facing
English
medical
terminology
(b) Indicate
which
branch(es)
of
medicine
each
term
pertains
to
(c) Determine
Spanish
technical
and
(when
possible)
colloquial
equivalents
3. Upon
task
completion
on
4/16/14,
1615
term
database
underwent
many
reviews/revisions
to
become
the
[x#]-‐term
vocabulary
inventory
(still
changing
but
at
slowing
rate)
currently
presented
in
product
C. Other
examples
of
content-‐area
contributions
1. Help
compile
“mini-‐lectures”
curriculum
(a) A
research
task
that
produced
a
curriculum
chart
and
individual
outlines
of
content
to
be
covered
in
each
mini-‐lecture,
from
which
authors
created
presentations
that
learners
will
view
as
videos
2. Write
lesson
objectives
to
give
to
authors
3. Create
audio
sheets
to
give
to
recording
team
(a) Go
through
each
lesson
and
help
determine
what/how
to
record
4. “Pinch-‐hitter”-‐style
researching/authoring/editing
as
needed
5
I
found
many
[retailer]
photos
with
erroneous
titles/captions.
Best
practice
was
to
thoroughly
understand
vocabulary
term/definition
first,
and
also
double-‐check
candidate
photo
by
searching
other
websites
for
similar
(through
Google
Images)
6
I
used
[software]
to
edit
and
store
all
photos
by
lesson
(except
vector
graphics,
which
I
used
[software]
to
crop).
Turns
out
there
is
a
known
issue
with
[software]
not
exporting
updated
IPTC
tags
(but
nevertheless
seeing
which
image
I
had
associated
with
a
given
vocabulary
term
(without
having
to
rely
on
memory)
proved
helpful
during
the
development
process.
