Recent Work Experience:
Cadet – Ferris State University Department ofPublic Safety – February 2013 to February 2015
- I was promoted to Cadet after approximately 1.5 years of working with the department. Previously I had
worked both as a foot patroller and dispatcher. My duties as the Cadet were to manage all of the other
students employed by the department. I oversaw three divisions, foot patrol, dispatch, and service
officers. I assisted my sergeant in interviewing prospective employees, as well as disciplining current
ones. As the Cadet,I was allowed to participate in frequent ride-alongs with the Ferris State University
police officers.
Technician – Student Technology Services – February 2013 to November 2015
- As a technician I have a broad range of responsibilities. I oversee all of the computers in Ferris State
University’s residence halls, as well as fix student computers that are checked into our office. My duties
include troubleshooting computer software and hardware,digital forensics and file recovery,printer
maintenance, and customer service.
Webmaster’s Assistant – University Advancement and Marketing – October 2015 to Present
- As the assistant to Ferris State University’s Website Director I am in charge of maintaining Ferris’
Website. I have full rights to access and edit the website, and my daily responsibilities include
HTML/CSS coding and migrating web pages to our new style.
Practical Experience:
Intern – Kalamazoo Department ofPublic Safety (KDPS) – January 2012 to June 2012
- My Internship with KDPS gave me the opportunity to work alongside many different areas of the
organization including patrol, dispatch, records,and training. I participated in multiple ride-alongs in
different areas of the city and was responsible for writing reports about my experiences.
Intern – Michigan State Police PawPaw Post – May 2015 to August 2015
- During my internship with the State Police I participated in over 200 hours of ride-alongs. I was able to
work with the Southwest Enforcement Team (SWET) on multiple occasions and worked with Troopers
on many different tasks such as a distracted driving initiative on I-94.
Professional Organizations:
Information Security and Intelligence Alliance (ISIA)
- I have been the Event Coordinator for the ISIA since the spring semester of 2013. My duties include
bringing guest speakers to campus to speak about their experience in the information security profession
and organizing philanthropic events for the organization.
Ferris State University Student Government
- I have been a representative in Student Government since the fall semester of 2013. I was asked to be the
head of the Diversity Committee at the beginning of this year. My job is to organize events across campus
that promote diversity awareness and inclusion.

Professional Organizations (Cont.):
Ferris State University Finance Division
- Finance division is in charge of managing Ferris State’s Student Activity Fund. The fund consists of
approximately $300,000 each semester and as a voting member I help decide what organizations get to
use these funds to finance their events.
Boy Scouts ofAmerica
- I hold the rank of Eagle with the Boy Scouts of America. After turning 18 I became an adult leader for my
Troop in Portage,MI. The Boy Scouts value community service, and we do a lot to improve the local
community.
Awards & Certifications:
Homeland Security Digital Forensics: LawEnforcement Concentration Certificate
- Homeland Security offers this certificate through Ferris State University for criminal justice students who
are interested in going into the field of digital forensics. For this certification, I was required to take
courses in the information security program, as well as extra criminal justice courses. Throughout these
classes we covered many different topics including fraud examination, link and visual analysis, data-
intelligence, criminal justice investigation, and digital forensics. I have applied to graduate with this
certificate and expect to in May of 2016.
Lifeguard: Boy Scouts ofAmerica
- While at summer camp for the Boy Scouts of America, I had the opportunity to take a course to become
certified as a lifeguard. This class covered swimming strokes, basic first aid, in-water first aid, water
rescue,and the use of lifeguard tools such as the rescue ring.
Most Dedicated Athlete Award: Comstock High School
- While in High School I suffered a knee injury during a wrestling match. This knee injury required an
extensive 10 hour surgery as well as regular physical therapy sessions for the next year. I received the
award for continuing to support Comstock athletics while injured, and for being able to return to playing
and receiving awards in both football and wrestling.
Community Service:
Boy Scouts ofAmerica: 150+ Hours
- Throughout the process of becoming an Eagle Scout I participated in numerous community service
projects including my own Eagle Project. These projects ranged from visiting retirement homes to
replacing the trailhead for Fred McLinden Trails in Comstock Michigan.
Ferris State University:
- The Big Event: A yearly event where students work together to perform yard/housework for elder
residents of Big Rapids MI
- Finance Division & Student Government are considered community service by the University
